Happy Tuesday all! Today was a lot like yesterday, but, I decided that I would start off with a bigger breakfast to see if it helped my hunger levels throughout the day.
I made sure to “power up” for a day with a lot of protein and this Spicy Sausage Egg-wich.
For all those wondering about Trader Joe’s Fat Free Multi-Grain Bread ~ it has been discontinued! I am SO SAD and have been trying to bribe everyone at my local TJ’s to get it back in. I think we all need to write or petition or something to get it back (side note) lol.
- 2 slices Trader Joe’s Fat Free Multi-Grain Bread (3 points+)
- 1 “fried” egg (2 points+)
- Hot & Spicy Morning Star Sausage sliced in half to cover the bread (2 points+)
ONE delicious sandwich that kept me full for 4 hours ~ YES!
Plus a cup of coconut coffee for here & to go (double fuel!)
Before heading out for my 3.4 mile lunchtime power walk I snacked on a banana plus a Trader Joe’s Light String Cheese (1 points+).
I LOVE days that I can get out to get my walk on at lunch and enjoy the sunshine ~ SUCCESS! Today was a perfect balance on sunshine with a crisp breeze.
When I got back to my desk I couldn’t wait to dig in. Lunch was a repeat of yesterday plus some.
Butternut Squash Soup (4 points+)
A LOT of Veggies with 2 Tbsp Lite Ranch (3 points+)
I actually brought yogurt and granola to add in protein with my lunch. However, after thinking about what I really wanted, I decided to go with these……
1/2 oz Sea Salt & Vinegar Almonds ~ I LOVE these, but, know I can ONLY bring a 1/2 a serving or I will eat the entire can (2 points+)
The Husband was in charge of dinner tonight because he said he wanted to “cook” the easy meal this week LOL.
He started us off with 1 cup Trader Joe’s Organic Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato Soup.
This soup is so completely delicious ~ it’s not too sweet and you can taste the pepper and tomatoes (3 points+).
Then, he created his own “take” on BLTA’s because the AVOCADO he bought was totally hard lol.
SIMPLE, DELICIOUS BLT – G’S! Any guesses on the “G”??
Trader Joe’s Guacamole!
Layered with organic mixed greens and super sweet tomatoes.
And 2 thick slices of crispy, uncured applewood smoked bacon!
I am not sure which I LOVE more BLTA’s or BLTG’s, but, both are pretty darn amazing any day or night of the week to me! (9 points+)
I can’t decide which I want to look through first ~ My new Everyday Food Magazine, Food Network Magazine or my new Everyday Food Light Cookbook.
Decisions, decisions……
Night all!

How do you make your coconut coffee?
DanicasDaily says
Hi Lisa,
I buy Green Mountain Coconut Coffee ~ It only comes out in the spring and it is back this year. I LOVE it! I usually drink it straight up, but, I added a splash of The Husband’s FF Vanilla Creamer yesterday.

I never thought to make a BLT with guacamole. I might have to try this. I’ve been on a GUAC kick. I use the Kroger seasoning, 2 avocados and LOTS of lime juice. Yesterday I ate with reduced fat triscuits. Adding bacon sounds like the angels are singing from above!

Ooh, that is a great idea… I’m going to make BLT-Gs soon (sans the G and T for my husband. :D)

I sent an e-mail to TJ’s to bring back the bread.

What is a “fried” egg??
DanicasDaily says
HI Peggy,
I “fry” my eggs in nonstick spray. Here is a post I did for how I make them.

I did try it this way, and thoroughly enjoyed the guilt-free of not having fried it in slathers of butter…instead lightly frying it in the cooking spray…why did I not do this before! The second time I made the sandwich, I must have too hungry, because I forgot the “cook it low and slow” idea…hehehe…but it was till good…though not as tender as the first time…i think you might have me trying those Morning Star sausages, they look JUST like sausages my mom would always put on my sandwiches…here’s to hoping it tastes like it too 🙂

TJ’s has a sprouted multi-grain bread with pretty much the same stats as the FF bread. Milton’s Plus Grain too. I think they are both 4 points for 2 slices but the sprouted one has HUGE slices and is really “bready”…worth that extra point! So sad about the death of the Fat Free Multigrain. Danica, thanks for at least introducing me to it. It was good while it lasted!!

Danica,
I have discoverd the new Fred Meyer sandwich slims for 2 points in the whole wheat. Since you are in California this find might not help you but readers on your blog might benefit by it.

I love Trader Joes, but they seem to have a habit of discontinuing items once I get hooked on them. My favorite fat free bean dip, my favorite meringue cookies, my favorite fruit leathers – all discontinued. I tried writing and calling, but no such luck. You might want to try Dave’s Killer Bread Lite if you have it in your area. It’s made in Oregon, where I’m from, but I know is distributed in some parts of Cali. Three points for two slices and it is the most delicious wheat/nutty bread!

Love the idea of guac on a blt! I’d have a tough time deciding which of those magazines/book to read first too!!!! Have a great day!!

I did buy the fat free bread at Trader Joe’s until I discovered their Sprouted Wheat Bread (which is different than the Sprouted Whole Wheat Fiber Bread which is 2 points plus a slice). The Sprouted Wheat bread I like is only 1 points plus per slice and MUCH more filling than the fat free.

That BLTG looks too delicious. I’m a fellow Weight Watcher and a total cookbook junkie. Would love to get your thoughts on the Everyday Food Light Cookbook!
DanicasDaily says
Hi Martha,
So far just skimming it, I’ve seen so many recipes I want to try. As I look at it more, I will be sure to talk about it more. I like that there is a picture and nutritional information for EVERY recipe.
Thanks,
Danica

Great idea on the easy dinner, here. Just opened a container of the TJ’s organic tomato soup…yum! I grilled about an ounce of halloumi cheese and put it in it. Did I say YUM, yet? This, however, will definitely be a meal this week…dinner calls! 🙂 Thanks! Pulling a 100-calorie packet of my Wholly Guac down from the freezer tonight!

How did i miss the original post about the TJ’s bread being disco’ed?!? *sob* I sent an email to TJ’s corp. I’m heartbroken!
AEG says
Please be sure to send all your emails to TJ about the bread. I sent mine the moment I learned, practically sobbing, and begging them to give me a recipe or a vendor or something! The reply was disappointing, but they did make a point to say that they do listen to feedback and have restored discontinued items when they receive enough complaints.
I have been buying that bread for over a decade. It was my staple – delicious and so versatile. I never cared about the fat-free part – in fact, I didn’t even realize it for the first 5 or so years. I just loved the bread. And nothing I see comes close to the flavor and texture it offered. I am desperate for a replacement…
