Date-iversary, Weigh In & My Weekly Menu

April 17, 2011 by DanicasDaily 15 Comments

Happy Weekend All!!  This weekend was SO FUN ~ We celebrated “Our Birthday” as The Husband calls it ~ our Dating Anniversary.  It’s crazy to think we have known each other for over 8 years and yet, it seems like we have known each other forever too.

I have so many good things to share in tonight’s post so I am just going to recap some of my FAVORITE meals and treats of the weekend, along with my Weigh-In Update and this week’s menu.

Let me just warn you all before you scroll down ~ there is A LOT of deliciousness below that isn’t so points+ friendly….sometimes, good food happens!

We kicked off our weekend with a “Mini” Road Trip to celebrate this weekend.

IMG_9759

ROAD TRIP SNACKS thanks to my awesome trip with TJ to Harvest House.

I am IN LOVE with these funky VEGAN Almond Rocks n Rolls Cookies. You get 10 for 3 Points+ which isn’t bad when you are enjoying them with delicious coffee (plus a Lite string cheese for protein, a.k.a. staying power LOL).

IMG_9753

I am usually not a fan of any of the Freeze Dried Fruits/Vegetables, but, I have heard so many good things about Sensible Foods Organic Sweet Corn, I had to try it!

IMG_9754

LOVE the simple, NOTHING ELSE ingredient list.

IMG_9760

I LOVED IT! It’s totally perfect for a sweet, salty, crunchy fix and tastes just like corn.  It’s 2 points+ for the ENTIRE package, but, make sure you plan something else to eat with it because it probably won’t fill you up.

IMG_9755

One of our lunchtime stops included my FAVORITE Thai Chicken Salad from Michael’s Deli.  I always say I’ll try something new but when it comes down to it, I ALWAYS pick this salad.  I share it with The Husband since it really is HUGE.

IMG_9766

This salad is phenomenal ~ Mixed greens, Napa cabbage, red peppers, cucumbers, chow mein noodles, sliced almonds, sesame seeds, and a spicy soy dressing. (10 points+ estimate).

See the Sweet Thai Chili Sauce ~ SPICY GOOD!

IMG_9767

Our “Date-ivversary” was actually on Saturday night and we decided to go all out to one of the Steak Houses that had excellent reviews on Yelp ~ Sterling’s Seafood Steakhouse.

Let me just preface this by saying BEFORE we even sat down, I made the decision that I wasn’t counting points+ and I was enjoying every bite.  I am chalking it up to my 49 WPA and making sure the rest of my week is within my daily target.

IMG_9774IMG_9772

You know a place is going to be good when their bread is delicious.  On the left a soft slightly sweet French bread topped with sea salt (like a pretzel!) and then on the right ~ Cheese Bread!  We both agreed that the cheese bread tasted just like these Almond Parmesan Crisps, but in a doughy bread sort of way.

IMG_9783

We shared an appetizer that was just ok.  The description sounded amazing, but, we both found the flavors a little flat (almost like salt and pepper were needed, maybe?)

Sautéed Wild Mushrooms with melted brie cheese & sherry in a buttery, herb phyllo shell.

IMG_9785

Simple dinner salad with Basil Balsamic on the side.

IMG_9788

Ironically, I ended up picking a HEALTHY dinner even though I said I could get whatever and planned on Shrimp Scampi or something like that.

Oven Roasted Chicken Breast with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Carrots and quite possibly the BEST Garlic Spinach Fontina Cheese Stuffed Portabello Mushroom I’ve ever had.

I ate all of the mushroom, carrots and potatoes, but, only about 1/3 of the chicken.

IMG_9796

The Husband got a HUGE 22 oz Porterhouse topped with an herbed butter with steak fries, snap peas and carrots that he ate ALL of…I am pretty sure he would’ve chewed the bone if nobody was looking Winking smile

IMG_9793

I think it’s AWESOME they bring you Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries when they bring the check.  It was the perfect sweet ending since we didn’t have any room left.  Next time, I am totally going back just for that bread and dessert Open-mouthed smile

IMG_9805

The last place that we went to for lunch before we headed back to town was Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.

IMG_9811

We both wanted BBQ because we kept smelling it everywhere and looked up open places on Yelp.

IMG_9813

I LOVE all their logos and cute signs throughout the store.

IMG_9815

I think it’s AWESOME that they have all of their nutritional information online so you can look BEFORE you go and decide what to order.  Click HERE to check it out.

We ordered the 3 meat platter with 3 sides to share.  The Husband also ordered their Westerner Sandwich because you get to pick two meats (he had brisket and hot links LOL).

Caesar Salad ~ 3 points+ (I had a bite and gave it to him b/c I wanted the coleslaw).  It’s pretty tasty for a simple Caesar.

IMG_9820

Coleslaw ~ YUM! I just NEED cabbage crunch with my BBQ. 6 points+

IMG_9821

Super Cheesy Mac & Cheese! I LOVED that they use the HUGE Shells ~ I need to buy those just because it’s like having huge pieces of doughy pasta that hold all that cheesy goodness.  16 points+ (WOW, but, it was really good!)  I had my half for sure.

IMG_9828

6 ounce Beef Brisket ~ 9 points+ (glad I only had 2 bites dipped in their Hot & Spicy BBQ Sauce)

6 oz Pork Ribs (2 ribs) ~ 11 points+.  I had the small one for 5 points+.

IMG_9822

6 oz Cheddar Jalapeno Turkey Sausage ~ 7 points+.  I had 2 slices dipped in original and sweet BBQ sauce.  It was just ok to me so I let The Husband have the rest.

IMG_9824

It’s kind of crazy to think of how many points+ this would be if you ate it all.  This is why I say to ALWAYS LOOK it up BEFORE you go because even though some things might seem healthy/low in points+, they may not be.

I am lucky that The Husband loves sharing with me (even if he gets his own meal too) so I get to try it all without having to eat it all.

IMG_9819

Ohhh and everyone gets FREE Ice Cream too!

IMG_9832

You all know I have a thing for mini cones! LOL.

Good job on the loss! I was down 2 after being up 1.4 last week. I got mad so I got even. Yet somehow I’ve found a lot of cake in my life this weekend. Onward we go, right? Those are amazing eats!

All I can say is :OMG! What a yummy-filled week-end!! Lovin’ your weekly menu as usual 🙂 Tell your husband that my Aussie hubbie has been known to pick up a steak bone or 2 and make sure it’s clean 🙂 I would love to know your reasoning for switching your weigh-in day…I weigh-in Friday and have been thinking about changing…my logic for Friday is: I usually use my 49 between Fri/Sat and then try to eat very clean for the rest of the week…but I keep gaining and losing the same 2-3 lbs. during the week…maybe I need to change things up.

Glad you had a wonderful “date -iversary”! So cute that you guys celebrate that!
Congrats on your loss, D! I switched my weigh-ins to Friday also and I feel much more comfortable with knowing that if I eat my WPA on the weekend, it won’t show up on the scale by Friday!

I do the Friday weigh-in too – and I bet I know your reason for the switch. Many WWs do it to eat slightly ‘ less restricted’ on the weekends and then stick tight to the plan M-F. You will do fine with it as long as you remember to not do so much damage on the weekend that it will take weeks to recover. I enjoy it because many good things happen on the weekends to be stressed out counting points and not enjoy the fun.

What a great and yummy looking weekend. I have Thursday weigh in, and know if my current session stops, I’ll go somewhere on Thur or Fri so I can be a little less restricted on the weekend. Have a great week.

I do a Sat am weigh in so that I can be “good” and eat light on Friday but then really enjoy Sat night.

I weigh in on Thursdays and I like that so that I can use my 49 weekly points over the weekend if I choose to or not.

Looks like you had alot of yummy food this weekend. I did as well and I’m not weighing in this week. I need to exercise, exercise, exercise. My excuse (one word): VEGAS! Lol. I tried to be good but that went out the window when we got there Friday afternoon. I just couldn’t do it. Oh well I know what I need to do to get back on track. Gotta have a weekend like this every now and again.

    Happy Date-a-verisary.

I have been going to Monday evening meetings for four months now and this week I decided to switch to Saturday mornings. Our meetings were totally off focus, it was all about awards for 30 minutes. It is good to recognize people and I think it is a good part of WW, but if I hear another member tell me to eat light and fit yogurt (WHICH IS GROSS, EAT CHO PEOPLE!!!!) I will lose it. The leader just let people blabber on for five or ten minutes and it’s always a lot of the same members. Plus I have had numerous people tell me I am nuts to weigh in after the weekend!!! My new leader is a little younger, FUNNY, and the whole meeting was about the topic this week- I need to hear about the weekly topic because I need direction!!! Good for you for losing while still enjoying your weekend!!!

Congrats on your loss! Looks like you had a great weekend.

I’ve been craving bbq lately too. Of course, we go to a BBQ place/concert venue on Friday night and i’m catholic, so we ate sushi before we went to the concert. I will have BBQ this week 🙂 We have endless great places around here.

I like Dickeys. I eat it when I travel to Dallas area. We got one here recently but I haven’t been yet, because we have so many other great choices

Hey Danica! Just wondering…what was your reason for switching your weigh-ins to Friday morning? I’m curious because that’s when my weigh-in is! After trying all different days over the course of my 2+ years on Weight Watchers, Friday morning made the most sense to me. First of all, I have a much easier time planning, tracking, and avoiding temptation during the week. If I’m going to indulge in a special meal, family dinner, a few drinks, etc. it tends to happen on the weekends. This way, my weekly points reset just in time, and I can breathe easy knowing that I have a little flexibility.
