!Happy Friday Eve all! I think I am officially IN LOVE with KettleBells (I think you already know I have an un-natural LOVE for Kettle Korn). I definitely think it’s a good sign you LOVE a workout when you can’t wait to get to the gym to do it.
I added A Perfectly Hard Boiled Egg (2 points+) to my 5 am pre-workout snack since I knew I was powering up with KettleBells!
Last week I did TWO KettleBell workouts that left me sore for 4 days…but, the crazy thing about it is that I LOVED the workout and couldn’t wait to repeat it.
Here is the KETTLEBELL WORKOUT provided by our company’s personal trainers.
- Kettlebell Swings 30 secs / per arm (remember NOT to round your back)
- Push Ups Right Hand on Kettlebell 5 reps (reminder to place under the handle not on time)
- Bent Over Row Right Arm 30 secs (Standing in the semi lunge stance left leg forward)
- Push Ups Left Hand on Kettlebell 5 reps
- Bent Over Row Left Arm 30 secs (Standing in the semi lunge stance Right leg forward)
- Sumo Squat to High Pull 30 secs (Standing in wide stance think of sumo wrestlers, toes point out 45 degrees, Chest Up, Standing Up while pulling the arms in upward motion making sure elbows are higher than the wrist, Squatting back down)Overhead Presses 30 secs (Turning the bell upside down and press the bell over head locking the arms out)
- Wall Squat 30 secs (Sitting on your invisible chair- optional hold two kettlebells at your side or one at your chest)
- Repeat 2 more times.
I used our 18 lb PINK Kettle Bell ~ they are the size of basketballs and look heavy but the weight distribution makes them not seem that heavy.
The REASON I LOVE Kettlebells is that you really do get a cardio and strength training workout in one….it’s tough, but, you don’t realize how tough it was until the next day when your muscles tell you.
All week LONG I have been dreaming of my Iced Coconut Dirty Latte, but, there are 0 Starbuck’s near work.
Instead, I settled for a medium Pete’s Iced Dirty Latte and saved it for after my workout. (4 points+)
Plus two Taco Egg Muffins (5 points+)
Today we had a challenge at work where we asked all the employees to make today a random Earth Day and to take another form of transportation to work other than driving themselves.
We had a whopping 61% participation so we all got lunch from Lane Splitter Pizza.
OMG! I am pretty sure I didn’t NEED to know this place existed at all. Ironically I thought I picked the Veggie Pizza (doesn’t it look like veggie?) until I saw pepperoni.
When I asked what it was…..I was told I picked up the Garbage Pie!
(pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onion, olive, spinach, artichoke hearts, fresh tomato)
What really makes there pizza phenomenal is their sweet, doughy, crunchy crust. I looked up dip dish pepperoni’s pizza in the WW online tracker (15 points+)
I AM proud of myself for filling half my plate with salad (topped with about 1 Tbsp ranch) instead of pizza, pizza like I wanted to do (2 points+)
Look what they installed on our filing cabinets at work today! Doesn’t it look just like the bunny’s butt on our boxes? I know a certain someone will want to have these put on her cabinets next
Lunch kept me full all afternoon and into the night. I was planning on having a HUGE plate of fruit (watermelon, pineapple and oranges) for dinner, but, got distracted at the Farmer’s Market when The Husband picked up this chicken/fried rice plate.
I had the small piece of chicken on top and about 1/3 of the fried rice.
Don’t worry ~ it gets worse…..I 100 million % know better than to buy Kettle Korn at all….it’s CRACK to me and I cannot resist it.
Every now and then I think I must need that reminder. The Husband asked if we could get some and I said sure thinking I could have just one handful…..HA!
1, led to 2, led to 3 led to me telling him to hide the bag from me…..I am pretty sure I showed you all how to blow you healthy eating plan the day before weigh in all in one day.
Not one of my better days, but, there you have it! Win some, lose some…..but the MOST IMPORTANT THING IS….I LEARNED from it!
Q’s
Do you workout with KettleBells? What are your favorite moves? I definitely want to learn more exercises.
Night all!

Yay your pictures show up now!
All I have to say is I’m right there with you. I started with a really great day, healthy and filling breakfast, workout before last and scariest final, feeling really good on the final, having a healthy lunch….and then I did it. I bought my favorite trail mix for my road trip tomorrow. The favorite trail mix that I cannot help but have a little handful..which led to another and another….When will we be able to have our favorite foods around and not let them control us!? Honestly, if you have any tips I would love to hear them!
…I even told my boyfriend on the way home that if it was a choice between him and the trail mix I’d choose the trail mix…if I was hungry enough!
Anyway! I appreciate you staying honest on your blog. So many other bloggers wouldn’t bring up when the mess up and only give us the good site. It’s so much easier to relate when we see you struggle just as much as we do.
Tomorrow is another day!

I never used kettle bells before but I’ve always wanted to. I just recently did my first free weight class and I loved but….i was sore for days. 🙂

I’m addicted to kettle korn as well. Have you seen that Orville Redenbacher’s does a Smart Pop in mini Kettle Korn bags? I think they’re about 3 points a bag and you’re limited by the size of the bag. I wouldn’t say they completely match the normal taste, but they’re nice when all you really want is kettle korn.

I hope your weigh-in today is a good one…it CAN happen even after a day we feel we “messed up”. I am not as addicted to kettle korn, but I know there are foods that are ‘red light foods’ for me, too. I’m thinking that part of the weight loss process is to examine what makes certain foods/snacks so special; see if we can find ways/situations to control our response to it; and if not – just limit it to special occasions. If we choose to learn LIFE SKILLS while loosing weight, it will be much easier to adjust to the maintenance phase of WW. I can tell you from experience that not doing that mental work leads to going back to old habits. I’m so ready to take this weight off and successfully keep it off!! I’m glad to have people like you, Danica, fighting the same battles with me!

Oh that kettle corn is dangerous stuff, so hard to eat just a little!
Never had tried the kettle bell but it looks like a good work out!

I hope the kettle bell workout beats your kettle corn at the scale this am! 🙂

Hey Danica,
TJs makes Kettle Korn that is 4+ pts a serving and is AWESOME. They also make a light version in individual bags (although my 8 year old son said they aren’t as good perhaps they are good enough?). Check them out!

Hi Danica,
Just wanted to tell you I’ve been lurking on your blog for about a month. I joined WWOnline almost four weeks ago and things have been going pretty well — in part because I turn to your blog for inspiration on a daily basis!
I bought two kettlebells at TJMaxx of all places last week. Then I went to Target and got Bob Harper’s Inside Out Method Kettlebell DVD. It’s about 50 minutes of Kettlebell HELL. Super hard, and TONS of squats, lunges, and burpees. I love it though, it’s something different than plain old free weights.
Thanks for listing the workout above; I’m going to try it today!

Days like that are what makes the journey real. If it were easy everyone would be skinny and we wouldn’t need you to inspire us! 🙂

Hi Danica,
I have been reading your posts for about a month now and LOVE the food ideas! Yumm! I was wondering where you are on your weight loss journey? You haven’t posted pics of yourself in a long time that I saw and was curious if you have kept the weight off since your pics in 2009? Thanks for all your recipes. They make me want to cook!

Those Kettle balls look fun, if you can say that about a workout:) I see them at the gym I go to, but did not know it was a sport or what to do with them.
Thank you for sharing the website too.

Hi Sara,
Thanks for the comment. You know my weight loss journey never ends and for me it really is a lifestyle. I am actually working on updating my about page with more recent pics, etc. I actually lost and maintained my loss for 5 years before I slipped back a little bit. I could go on with the list of reasons for what caused the gain, but, the main thing was I stopped attending my meetings, stopped tracking and slowly let a few habits come back that shouldn’t have. I learned from it and now am moving forward. I have been working to lose what I gained back but it’s not coming off as easy this time around. I believe in the program and will continue to work to get back to my happy weight….this is why I say it’s always a journey. Some years I am more successful than others but I never give up.
