Why did I wait THIS long to try Pica, Pica?!

December 20, 2010 by DanicasDaily 8 Comments

Happy Monday everyone!  I am “almost” caught up with your recipe requests.  I still owe you the Slow Cooker Chimi Changas (coming up tomorrow), but, you can find the Individual Cakes in a Mug HERE and the Cinnamon Oatmeal Pecan Pancakes HERE.

Thanks for the congrats and menu ideas on last night’s post.  I definitely plan on playing catch-up on emails this week – I know I owe you all a few replies.

I wanted to start today’s post off with some fun we had this weekend with my niece.  The folks over at Cheerios and My Blog Spark gave us a sneak peak at the latest version of Cheerios ~ Cinnamon Burst.  I LOVE pretty much cinnamon anything so I definitely couldn’t wait to give this a go.

They gave us a flip camera and had us do a little “commercial” with my niece to get a “kids” take on Cheerios. She did great.

My FAVORITE outtake ~ she FORGOT the name of the cereal she was eating here Open-mouthed smile

I WISH we left the camera rolling because my nephew walked by after she was done with this take and told her she didn’t need to keep eating it.  She was like, I know, but, it IS REALLY good! LOL

For the record….I LOVE Honey Nut Cheerios, but, I think the new Cinnamon Burst, might have it beat – it’s delicious at 3 points+ a serving.

My breakfast today on the other hand, wasn’t quite as exciting.  I really wasn’t feeling like anything to eat so I opted another Iced Dirty Latte (4 pts+) and a Banana (0 pts+)

Today the TREATS in the office were insane.  My co-worker brought over this plate of treats that I saved for The Husband (I did take a bite of each though 4 points+ estimate).

For lunch my co-worker and I decided to venture out to the Oxbow Market.  I LOVE that place and I LOVE it more when people want to go and try everything with me Open-mouthed smile

Stop #1 Pica Pica Kitchen!!!

IMG_3530

I honestly do not know why I’ve never had Venezuelan Food until today.

IMG_3533

We picked the Medium Sized Pabellon and Pernil to share with an Olive Oil Garlic Sauce.  They don’t look pretty but they will wow you with flavor.  The meats are Smokey, yet, well seasoned and the bread is like a corn tamale & tortilla crossed. (4 points+ for my 2 halves – high estimate)

IMG_3539

Yuuca Fries!!!! Need I say more?!?! I had 4 fries. (8 points+)

IMG_3532

Stop #2 ~ C Casa ~ A Healthy Taqueria!

We shared this Buffalo Taco with a spicy chipotle aioli.  I’ve never had buffalo until today but I LOVED it ~ it tasted just like ground beef – who knew?! (3 points+ for my 1/2)

IMG_3541

0 point salad!!!! Jicama, Cucumber and Pineapple Slices rubbed with spicy chipotle powder….you squeeze lime over them….sounds and looks gross, but, it was totally refreshing and delicious.

IMG_3543

We made one last stop at Annette’s Chocolates.  I picked up a Caramel Marshmallow and Himalayan Sea Salted Caramel Chocolate for my PM snack. (4 points+)

IMG_3548

I probably could’ve, should’ve would’ve lightened up dinner, since I had a few treats today, but, I decided to stick with the plan.  BLTA’s.

IMG_3549

BACON + AVOCADO = LOVE!

* 2 Slices Trader Joe’s Fat Free Multi-Grain Bread (only 3 points+ – YES!)

* Organic Spinach Leaves(0 points+!)

* 1/4 AVOCADO! (3 points+)

* 2 BIG Organic Tomato Slices (0 points+!)

* 2 slices Trader Joe’s Uncured Apple Wood Smoked Bacon (4 points+ but worth it!)

Plus a simple side salad with 1 Tbsp TJ’s Cranberry Walnut Gorgonzola Dressing (1 pts+).

It’s so cool to think that I totally had treats and a fun lunch out, yet, barely dipped into my 49 extra weekly points.  AWESOME!

Just 1 and half days left of work for the year ~ woohooo!!!

Night all!

    I can not wait to try these Cheerios!!! Gosh they sound delicious. I wonder what took them so long to come up with a Cinnamon flavor. It seems too easy.

    That looks like an AMAZING lunch!

    Yesterday was my worst day yet. My back is tweaked, and I was feeling sorry for myself. I have 4 weekly points left until Thursday so I’m just gonna get back on the horse and stay within my 29 today and tomorrow. Would be nice if I could walk it off but I have to rest. 🙁

    Thank you so much for the recipes. I plan on giving my daughter the cake mugs. She is just getting to the age where she wants to help out in the kitchen and this will be fun for her to make her own dessert. Great idea. The jar pancake is a great idea too!
