What a fantastic way to spend a Saturday! We ended up meeting our friends for lunch at Joe’s for a Meat-o-Wich! Seriously, if you are a meat lover, you’d LOVE this place because the sandwiches are gigantic. They roast all their meats their and slice them to order. I picked the BBQ Beef with pepperjack cheese. Yup ~ I barely managed 1/2 of this sandwich.
Then, I thought I ordered pasta salad as my side, but, macaroni salad came out. I am not a fan of mayo salads but in an effort to give it a chance, I had one bite. Nope, not for me.
After lunch, we lounged around ~ The Husband napped while I started reading The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl Love it so far – it’s a hoot! We got ready and The Husband actually wore a tie!
The ceremony was outdoors and absolutely beautiful. I was so glad it wasn’t a hot or windy day, but, it was just perfect….the flowers were amazing.
Their doggies are their kids so they were of course included as part of the ceremony. They had cute little flower lei’s and satin leashes. They were the first to walk down the isle that was covered in light and dark purple rose petals.
I LOVED all the dresses – the picture just doesn’t do it justice. The bridesmaids dresses were pearl essence and shimmer and her dress was so beautiful. The groom wore all black (his favorite color). My favorite part was seeing his face as she walked down the isle…..he just sorta melted and couldn’t stop smiling. Their ceremony was so touching, I think we all sort of got a little misty eyed at times.
They make just the cutest couple. Congrats Wayne & Brenna!
So The Husband keeps teasing me because this was probably one of my most favorite parts of the wedding because it was such a unique & different idea. They set up TWO candy stations of all candies you can get in blue and purple (their colors) and you made up little treat bags. Isn’t that such a great idea?!
I made up a little bag of everything…..LOVE this idea versus the traditional handouts that you have to make yourself.
The next station we walked up to while waiting for them to take pictures was the Purple Drink Ice Sculpture. They had a mixture of vodka with some blueberry schnapps and they poured it through the ice (which had their initials in it).
I had to test it out! So good, but, dangerous because it tasted like Kool Aid. After having my blueberry drink, I decided to move onto a lemon drop. I only managed about 1/2 of it because it was so strong. With my drinks I did have (but forgot to take a picture) a mini grilled cheese and fry cup that they served as appetizers.
I was really impressed with the food they served up for dinner. I started out with a piece of soft, herby focaccia bread.
The dinner was served buffet style so I had a little bit of everything.
Top 1/2 veggies & fruit:
* Mixed greens & caesar salad
* Fruit – cantaloupe, pineapple, watermelon
* a big scoop of tri color green beans
Bottom half ~ carby goodness!
* Two types of pasta – with a small square of eggplant parmesan
* Then, being the good wife I am, I had a big piece of prime rib that I got just so The Husband could have two slices. My meat eater loved it!
Next up was the cake, each layer had a different flavor and it was really gorgeous.
The layer we were served was a meyer lemon strawberry. I LOVED the lemony-ness of it but I never eat that funky layer on the outside that is all chewy.
It was such a fun wedding. I didn’t realize until after we were there and listening that this is the first wedding that The Husband and I went to as a married couple. I LOVED not having to go up or be called out to go up for the bouquet toss for once. Plus, I think we both got a little sappy on each other 🙂
We wish our friends all the love and happiness in the world, but, we already know they have that! Congrats again Wayne and Brenna ~ you both deserve everything life has to offer!
I have to admit I am jealous that they are jetting off to Jamaica for 10 nights….We NEED a vacation like that 😀
Today we are off to my nephew’s 2nd birthday party so I won’t be around again until later today! See you all tonight for a recap of today!
