BFD!

February 7, 2011 by DanicasDaily 21 Comments

Happy Monday all!  Do you ever have days where you are just not feeling it?!  Today was THAT day for me ~ nothing sounded good to eat and I definitely didn’t want to get out to exercise at all.   But, you know what I do on days like that???

I FAKE IT TIL I MAKE IT!!! In other words, I give myself permission to eat whatever even if it isn’t balanced or pretty and I MADE myself get out for a walk at lunch even if I knew it wouldn’t be my best one.  Eventually if you keep telling yourself all day that it’s WORTH IT and you go through the motions, you believe it and it somehow all works out.

This morning I wasn’t really feeling breakfast, but, I KNEW I wanted “chocolate milk” Open-mouthed smile  Venti Iced Nonfat Decaf Latte with 1 Pump Mocha….aka a “Dirty Latte” (4 points+)  I totally can justify it because you know, it counts as a dairy serving!

image

Nothing really sounded good to me today for breakfast but I KNEW I wanted a big bowl of Fruit ~ Banana and the most delicious pineapple ever!

IMG_5914

WW Cinnamon Crumb Supreme Bar!!! I cannot tell you all how much I am IN LOVE with this bar and that is a BIG thing because I am NOT a bar person ~ I’d rather have real food any day.

IMG_5916

Can you see how chewy, brown sugary, cinnamony it is?  It literally melts in your mouth. <3!

IMG_5919

I actually whipped up my lunch for today yesterday morning.  I have been craving THESE BUTTERNUT SQUASH RAVIOLI’S IN A BROWNED BUTTER CRANBERRY PECAN SAUCE ever since I made.

I didn’t have the AWESOME Home Made Ravioli’s that I get at the Farmer’s Market, but, the Trader Joe’s Butternut squash ravioli’s are a good trade off. (9 points+)

IMG_5863

I knew I’d NEED more to go with my pasta so I roasted a butternut squash with sea salt and 1 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive oil at 450 for 30 minutes turning half way through.

IMG_5882

Then, I topped it with a 1/4 cup dried cranberries and fresh thyme to match the ravioli flavor.  I had 1/3 the recipe for 4 points+.

IMG_5888

Dessert ~ a big bowl of cantaloupe.

Dinner tonight was going to be our Build a Chipotle Bowl, but, I really just wasn’t feeling it.  The Husband suggested BFD (no, not my thoughts on today Open-mouthed smile)

We had BFD = Breakfast for Dinner and it was SO GOOD!

I used my “One Egg Wonder” pan that he got me to “Fry” my egg.

IMG_5937

Isn’t it the cutest pant ever?!  it does make perfectly round eggs.

IMG_5936

SEE!  2 points+

IMG_5939

Hash browns!! I totally wish I had Jicama or I would’ve been all over making Jicama Hash browns.  I shredded 12 oz of Yukon Gold potato and “fried” them in 1 Tbsp canola oil with garlic salt and black pepper……MMMMMM! (5 points+) ~ a great way to fit in your healthy oil guideline!

TJ’s Peppered Turkey Bacon (2 points+)

TJ’s Fat Free Multi-Grain Bread with 1 Tbsp Whipped Butter (5 points+)

Q’s

What is your favorite thing to have for dinner with NOTHING sounds good?

For me, it is usually mac & cheese or cheese and crackers with fruit.  However, I am kind of digging our Diner Style BFD tonight!

Night all!

When I’m not feeling like cooking dinner, I like to buy a couple of rotisserie chickens at the supermarket. We have a nice dinner with steamed veggies…we take all the rest of the meat off and put it in containers for things like quesadillas, chicken salad, sandwiches, soup, etc later in the week. We then cook the ‘bones’ in a crockpot -cover them with water -overnight to make a wonderful broth to use in soups, chili, etc. Its my ‘go to’ – usually on Friday nights as the local supermarket has large chickens done up 2 for $10 on Fridays!

This entry was timely, I’m in the same boat, Danica! We received samples of those bars this week, and they’re sooooo good. When I’m in that kind of mood about dinner, I do what someone else suggested with the rotisserie chickens. I’ll usually get some sort of salad from the deli for my husband, then I’ll do a steamed veggie and a green salad to go along with it. If I’m really not feeling it, we’ll do grilled cheese & soup or cheese, crackers, deli meat and fruit. I’m going to have to incorporate BFD now, that looks great!

My daughter and I love BFD – it was our treat when my husband traveled for business.

I have a tiny pan like that too – it makes the perfect “fried” eggs! 😀

Not that it happens very often, but if I don’t feel like making anything – a bowl of corn flakes with sliced banana is awesome!

My favorite thing to have for dinner when nothing sounds good is either grilled cheese or breakfast 🙂 Dan isn’t a fan of brinner though, so when I do that, I have to make him something else (usually some sort of pasta).

How does this FB party work?

If I don’t feel like anything… breakfast for dinner is the way to go. Some how breakfast foods always sound good to me… back in the day it used to be mac ‘n cheese, deluxe 🙂

I LOVE breakfast for dinner! We usually make pancakes when we do that. When I’m not in the mood for anything, I usually go for a bowl of cereal.

That little pan is SOOOO cute!!! Breakfast for dinner is often our “go to” meal if we don’t feel like thinking about what we’re cooking. That, and canned baked beans on toast. Have a great day Danica!!

    Hi Sami,

I am the SAME way. I absolutely hate it when I am looking forward to good fruit and it disappoints. I actually got lucky with this cantaloupe – it was delicious.
