Happy Saturday all! We were up bright and early yesterday for our camping trip in Lake Tahoe with my family. I think it took us longer to pack up for camping then it has for any vacation we have ever gone on. Go figure and I thought we were being simple lol.
Before heading out, we picked up eggs with our ice just so I could make eggwiches for the road (SF) – 6 points+. We also stopped for Venti Iced Dirty Coconut Coffees too (SF+2 WPA).
The Husband picked up these mini Haribo Gummy Bears for our trip ~ hands down my favorite gummy bear of all times. I first tried them in Europe and have loved them ever since.
What makes them even better – you get 2 mini packages for 1 points+
Don’t worry, I rounded it out with a banana when we arrived at my sisters
Once we arrived in Lake Tahoe, we decided to have a picnic lunch to fuel up before setting up our tent. I made up a Ham-Wich on Sarah Lee Honey Wheat thin bread. (SF) – 5 points+
With cherries & pineapple on the side.
I am not sure if I told you all, but, I was in charge of all the food so I subjected everyone to healthy eating this weekend. Instead of regular chips, I brought baked chips….no full fat cheese – just low-fat….the list goes on. (SF+3 WPA) – totally worth spending my WPA on these.
While my sis’s husband’s set up their “Glamping” Camping Trailer, we camped for real with our tent – LOL…Totally kidding since we pretty much love their trailer – we just had fun teasing them about it.
From all our years camping growing up, we knew to level the ground and pin down a tarp.
Then, we had to read the directions….
I will be the first to admit, setting up our tent seemed so much easier when our parents did it for us as kids.
The Husband, my niece, nephew, sis and I worked as a team and it really did take ALL of us.
Our outdoor grill & S’mores pit with my ham of a nephew – he kept wanting his picture taken in every picture.
We decided to get around anywhere on our trip we will bike or walk. This is in addition to our planned bike rides and hikes.
Once we were settled, my nephew opened his birthday gifts ~ HIs bug catching outfit…..he is totally the reason we are not going to have any bugs on us all weekend (he says!)
Before heading out to explore the campground and the beach, I snacked on a Sargento light string cheese wrapped in 99% fat free ham. (SF) 3 points+
There is something so peaceful about just putting out your beach chair and sitting at the lake watching the waves flow by. That and there was absolutely NO CHANCE I was getting into that freezing 50 degree cold water to swim with the kids.
I was starving by the time we arrived back to camp, so I had my dinner in parts.
1/2 cup Vegan Pasta Salad which happens to be 100% Simply Filling too! 2 points+
Mixed Greens with 1 Tbsp sunflower seeds and 1 Tbsp ranch (SF+2 WPA) – 2 points+
Quite possibly my favorite new burgers! We bought a 12 pack of frozen, individually wrapped Jennie-O Turkey Breast Turkey Burgers at Costco.
Grilled up with BBQ and Sargento 2 % Colby Cheese.
With thick tomato slices & pickles ~ nobody even mentioned that they were not beef burgers either including the kids – success! (SF+1 WPA for the BBQ sauce) – 8 points+
The dessert I have been waiting for all week long ~ S’Mores!!! We bought gigantic marshmallows that totally tasted like marshmallow fluff when roasted. (SF+ 5 WPA) 5 points+
- 3,242 calories burned
- 13,603 steps taken
- 14 2WPA used, 10 WPA remaining (37 daily points+)
I will be back tomorrow with our grand camping finale ~ I am off to grill up our dinner so I have room for more S’Mores later
