Cleaning burns serious calories!

September 6, 2009 by DanicasDaily 5 Comments

Happy Saturday all! Ok, well, I am a day late and a dollar short, but, I just didn’t feel like being on the computer at all yesterday – so I didn’t get on :)  I was up bright and early yesterday to get my day started.

After heading to Home Depot with The Husband, I went to my Weight Watcher meeting.  I LOVE that they are doing the Lose For Good Campaign again this year.  It is a really big incentive for me to try to lose as much as I can because for each lb of weight I lose they donate the equivalent lbs in food to local shelters – LOVE That!

Today’s topic was all about filling foods (aka CORE foods).  Can you guess which food is filling or not and how many points it is.

Our leader took it a step further and brought in measured out portions of the foods for us to look at.  I have to admit I was surprised how many things held their shape when she told us that she has had them in the baggies all week!

I lost weight (yahoo!) and made my donation to the Lose For Good campaign.  I will be giving you all a full Body For Life update on my post tonight with measurements changes, etc for week 2.

I was starving during my meeting so I snacked on my favorite candy bar ~ A Pure Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter bar – so good! Meal #1 @ 8:35 am

After the meeting I headed over to the Farmer’s market and stocked up on a ton of colorful fruits and veggies.  They actually had this Go Organic film crew there filming some of the farmer’s.  It was interesting to watch and listen to what they had to say.

Two Colored Green Beans!

Heirloom tomatoes!

Peppers – I LOVE the color of all these.  The big ones were 3 for $1 – can’t beat that!

Summer Squash

Pluots, nectarines and a peach.

When I got home, I started deep cleaning our house.  This meant going through every room and actually organizing it, getting rid of things we don’t need and cleaning it.  I spent ALL day doing this in every room of our house so my eats were so I didn’t to stop and take time to cook.

Meal #2 @ 11:30 am 1 crunchy white nectarine over 3/4 c low fat cottage cheese.

Insert more cleaning here plus tons of laundry and Meal #3 @ 2:30 pm ~ A chocolate banana almond protein shake.  Super thick creamy and delicious.  I think I need to just freeze all my bananas as soon as I get them.  They make such a fantastic shake when frozen.

I finally finished cleaning and decided to head out and do a little shopping.  I grabbed a quick snack for Meal #4 @ 5:45 pm.  A pluot and 2 Sargento Low Fat Sting Cheese.  I actually wanted to cut up a bell pepper or eat it like an apple but I was too lazy.

I picked up some super cool cinnamon scented pinecones at Michael’s.  I LOVED seeing all the fun Halloween and fall stuff they have out now.  Our whole house smells like fall now – LOVE it!

I had planned on making a chicken stir-fry for dinner however The Husband said we should just get take out.  I’ll be honest, I was wiped out so I was all for it. He wanted Quizno’s and I thought that would be too much breadiness for me.  So, I went next door to Panda Express to see if I could find a bit more balance for BFL.

I got mixed vegetables instead of rice or chow mein.  LOVE this option!

Plus Mandarin chicken which I thought would’ve been a good option.  I was soooo wrong and seriously want to know what they put in this.  A single serving has 310 calories and 16 g of fat!  You can get just about any other dish for less calories/fat.  *sigh*   They much marinate it in an oil based teriyaki sauce is all I can think of because the chicken is super soft when you eat it.

My last choice was a serving of broccoli beef.

Dinner was pretty tasty even though I learned what to get next time this morning :)  I don’t feel bad though because I am sure I more than compensated for it with my fantastic calorie burn from cleaning and I still fell in the calorie range I was shooting for.

Cleaning = Major calorie burn – as in more than working out!

STAT RECAP:

Calories consumed: 1,384

Calories burned: 3,386

Steps taken: 15,813

Ratios: 34% Protein, 34% Carbs, 32% Fat

Today I think we are working around the house (outside), doing a little shopping and a little relaxing. Not sure what else is up in the air other than meal planning and maybe some fun tonight with BBQ or what not.

Have a great Sunday!

All those fresh veggies look soooo good! Cleaning makes me so sweaty! I have to make sure I do it before I shower, otherwise another has to follow it!
