Hi all! I’m back today with a recap of our second New England Cruise stop: Boston, Massachusetts. We decided to brave the rain in the AM to get in some steps and pick up a proper coffee at Starbucks. Oh how I’ve missed good coffee! Our main destination for the day was to explore the Freedom Trail. I highly recommend having a guide show you to get the full stories as you go. Our guide also taught history and she did a fantastic job.
You follow these symbols along a 2.5 mile red brick path to see all 16 historical spots on the trail. We decided to walk the trail in reverse so we could walk downhill versus uphill đ
The Massachusetts State House.Next up was the Boston Commons. Then the famous cemetery. The old City Hall which had a few fun things on the ground. This hopscotch game tells a bit about the history. While the donkey and elephant throw a bit of political fun.I loved all the brick buildings you see everywhere you go. This is a church.Several have these beautiful flowers or unique gardens in front. The Omni Parker Hotel is the oldest hotel in Boston. Several famous celebrities have stayed here and more importantly you will be served the famous Parker bread rolls when you dine here. The Old State House.Faneuil Hall which now has cute shops and delicious Red Barn coffee inside. This bank was not on the trail…I just loved the name Five Cent Savings Bank. The oldest church that is still operating today.Their pews are very cool. Back in the day you would actually buy one then you were free to decorate it however you wanted to. We deviated a bit from the trail to walk through Little Italy which I swear smells like garlic and delicious Italian food.
He was totally a trooper but I definitely wiped him out with our 8 miles of walking around Boston. We go back next week for a Red Sox game so I cannot wait to see more.Daily Snap Recap:B: Ham &Veggie Omelet & Fruit
