I had really good intentions of whipping up my CEiMB Whole Wheat Heart Pancakes this morning, but, when it came down to it, I was just too tired and our strawberries were bad 🙁
No worries, Turkey Bacon and Peppers ALWAYS makes things better (2 pts)
Somehow our seasons are so mixed up ~ Now that fall is here, it is officially blazing HOT outside. We thought of sitting out in the sunshine to enjoy our drinks this morning, but, at 9 am it was already 90 degrees (2 pts).
Lunch is something I just cannot seem to get enough of lately and The Husband even asked to have the same thing as me ~ AWESOME that I got him to eat a Flat Out Wrap!
Simple Salad topped with Newman’s Lite Lime Vinaigrette. (2 pts)
Flat Out Insanely Addictive MINI Turkey Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza (5 pts).
My afternoon was spent taking on a NEW project that might have included a few taste tests 😀 so no “real” PM snack.
Dinner was super easy since I was “busy” ~ Leftover Spaghetti with a Veggie/Meat Sauce and Shaved Parmesan (7 pts).
Plus Cantaloupe (1 pt)
I LOVE Bakerella ~ really, I do! I have not so secretly been following her delicious creations with envy since before I ever started blogging. I truly admire her talent as a baker, but, many a times, her creations have me showing The Husband saying things like “look how cute this is/that is”. I wonder what “occasion” I can find to make this for because I KNOW I cannot make it and keep it in the house without eating it all. I pretty much know I wouldn’t share, but, giving, now I am good at 😀
I couldn’t resist supporting one of my favorite fellow bloggers (even if she may not know how cool I think she really is!) and buying her book as soon as it hit the shelves! The added bonus, it’s only $12 on Amazon!!!
I have ALWAYS wanted to make Cake Pops, but, always thought they were so hard. Her book gives an excellent step by step tutorial making it look so easy.
Since I am a visual person, my FAVORITE parts of the book are Photo Index and the pink binding which allows the book to actually STAY OPEN while you bake!
I told The Husband I bought her book just so I could make these cute “Spring Chickens” for my nieces birthday (not to feed my cookbook addiction! :D) LOL
Simple enough….I like short ingredient lists. The only thing I didn’t realize until AFTER I started was you have to actually pick out all those cute little orange and yellow sprinkles from the rainbow mix. I think you have to be patient to be a baker.
Here are my Chickie’s after they rolled around in a little Vanilla Candy Melt Bath. The Husband was pretty smart in finding styro-foam by using the top of a disposable ice chest.
Here chickie, chickie, chickie! 1/3 of them decorated and it was totally not that hard. Time consuming, yes, hard, no. I am definitely not a Bakerella, but, I think I did ok for my 1st time!
I think that these 3 Chicks are SO CUTE! I totally ran into the living room and woke The Husband up from his nap with my Chicks on a Stick to show him 😀 lol.
All “caged” up after the cake pop “party” and dancing for The Husband.
With only 1 casualty ~ a lost foot!
Then, this chick realized that sometimes spending hours to decorate like 15 pops isn’t all it’s “cracked” up to be 😀
Yes, I totally make up stories and play with my food because it is what all the “cool chicks” do! LOL…..Yup, I am a dork, but, I am ok with that.
Have any of you ever made CAKE POPS? If so, please, please, please share your tips and tricks. I’d love to know what your favorite cake mix and frostings are to use. Make them, buy them? I am looking to improve my POPS.
3 DAYS TIL WE ARE OFF TO ARIZONA…I hope the week goes fast!
Night all!

wow, i am SO impressed that you made cake pops! they turned out perfect! they totally intimidate me. loved your corny crack up joke 😉

The chicks turned out really well! I am so impressed. I am not a baker at all – do not have the patience or the sweet tooth necessary to enjoy it – but cake pops are one of the few things that make me reconsider that stance! Ryan would flip out over the robot ones 🙂
I didn’t get to the pancakes either. They got good reviews and were supposedly quick/easy to make, but I haven’t been able to motivate myself to make them :/

They came out so cute, Danica! Great job! I just recently started checking Bakerella’s blog and I’m so excited to make something! I will definitely be buying the book thanks to your “sneak peak” at how awesome it is!

Love the chicks! I have made cake pops once before but I just made the pops! No decoration! I dipped them in oreo and skor bites instead 🙂 And I also made the cheesecake pops which are unreal. I don’t know about tips though..mine sure didn’t look as good as yours did!!

Danica:
I make cake balls all the time (a cake pop minus the stick). Some of the more popular flavors that I have made are:
1) red velvet cake/cream cheese frosting dipped in milk chocolate;
2) strawberry cake/cream cheese frosting dipped in dark or white chocolate;
3) spice or carrot cake/cream cheese frosting dipped in white chocolate;
4) chocolate cake/chocolate cream cheese frosting dipped in milk chocolate
I use a boxed cake mix, but will make my own frosting because I think it just tastes much better than the tub. Also, using a good quality dipping chocolate helps.
