Daily Snap: Vegetables w/my Vegetables

March 21, 2017 by DanicasDaily 7 Comments

Happy Spring all! Today was a winery day and went down like this…Breakfast was good, my snack was even better, lunch was awesome and dinner was just ok. One of the challenges I face is I have several work meetings that involve food. One way I deal with that is I try to always pick a lean protein and veggies whether it’s just like that or it’s a salad. I’m also never afraid to order a vegetable to go with my vegetables especially if it’s something I’m excited to eat.

Yep, I have an unnatural love of Brussels Sprouts and will pick them 9 times out of 10 over anything else.

I’m super proud I kept to that theory today when we headed to Kinsmoke in Healdsburg. I definitely pondered the Mac & Cheese, frickles, cornbread and sweet potato tots (seriously – have you seen the pictures on Yelp?!). Then I saw….. Brussels Sprouts with bacon! I loved my lunch so much I didn’t feel deprived or like I was missing out. Definitely a success in my book.

Daily Snap Recap:

B: Healthy Eggroll (Mission Extra Thin Yellow Corn Tortilla, Sargento RF cheddar, Fried Egg, Sriracha) – 5 SP, 1/2 cup berries

S: Tall Nonfat Cappuccino with caramel on top for the drive (2 SP)

S2:  eaten an hour before lunch to keep my hunger in check and ordering on track – 2 Tbsp trail mix (2 SP), banana

L: Smoke House Salad with 4 grilled shrimp (I wish it was more) and BBQ vinaigrette on the side (4 SP), 1/2 order Brussels Sprouts (3 SP)

S: Nonfat Latte with a little shaved dark chocolate from Flying Goat (4 SP) and worth every single one

D: Good in theory but not great – 3 oz grilled chicken over tossed salad with evoo and balsamic (5 SP)…This felt healthy so I added 1 oz Whole Foods Baked Onion Rings 😀 (4 SP) and a clementine

29 Daily SmartPoints – I’m sure I’ll use 1-2 more later

How do you all handle meals out? What do you pick?

Night all!

Danica: I would like to like brussel sprouts and cauliflower, but it’s not going to happen. When you fix your healthy eggroll, do you warm up the corn tortilla? Enjoy your Wednesday.

        Hi Peggy,

I know what you mean – I will never be a fan of cauliflower. Yes, I do “fry” my tortilla up in a little nonstick spray first. Here is a link to a recipe for how I make it. http://www.danicasdaily.com/recipage?recipe_id=6035577

        Thanks for asking,

I love your throwback posts but went to Trader Joes looking for the baked onion rings and they told me they had be discontinued. Just say above Whole Foods ones, are they are good?

      Hi Diana,

Thanks! I know – I am soooo sad that Trader Joe’s discontinued them. I was excited when is saw the rings at Whole Foods – they are good, but, not as good as the Trader Joe’s ones.

      Thanks for asking,

      Danica

Those brussel sprouts looked amazing. I too could eat them every day, and I almost do with my premade lunches. Everyone always says my lunches smell so good. I tell them, whether they know it or not, it’s brussel sprouts! Those, along with sliced chicken breast, an easy no-brainer and satisfying lunch.

      Hi Cindy,

Your lunch sounds delicious! I should try doing that too.

      Thanks for the idea,

      Danica
