Fresh & Easy, a new Starbuck’s fav & my weigh-in!

June 11, 2011 by DanicasDaily 14 Comments

Happy Weekend all!  We are super busy this weekend working on a surprise for one of our friends that I will be able to tell you about tomorrow (once the surprise happens!)  It’s pretty cool! Open-mouthed smile

Yesterday started off with my weigh in and I am excited to report TWO tHINGS:

* I ate ALL my WPA (unlike last week where I saved 31 of them)

* I LOST 1 LB!!!

I like that ~ EAT MORE, LOSE MORE!  I am going to focus on eating them all again this week and see if it helps me continue to lose.  3 lbs to go to get to my Las Vegas Goal….I have a little less than 2 weeks to get there so its time to step it up!

Breakfast was a crispy eggwich (5 points+)

IMG_3071

Plus a huge bowl of watermelon….I could eat my body weight in watermelon I think.

IMG_3069

I took a break for lunch today when TJ of TJ’s Test Kitchen mentioned making up HUGE salads at Whole Foods.  This totally worked for me because I wanted to see if I could find one more ingredient to make up my Harvest Grain Salad Mix for you all.

The BEST marinated mushrooms I’ve ever had.

IMG_3080

I used this mango salsa with balsamic vinegar as my dressing.

IMG_3076

An OK Thai salad….it was a tad bit too minty for me.

IMG_3077

BEETS!  I wish I got more – they were so sweet, crunchy and flavorful.

IMG_3078

1 homemade crouton (1 points+)

IMG_3079

All on top of mix greens, romaine, a little corn, peas, garbanzos and 1 Tbsp raw sunflower seeds that I should’ve left off because I couldn’t taste them.  (3 points+)

IMG_3075

We shared a soft, doughy pretzel roll that tasted just like a soft pretzel (2 points+)

IMG_3097

I really wanted to make up a big bowl of their hot foods versus a salad but I refrained and got a little “sampler”.

* Green Beans (1 points+) Slightly spicy with a teriyaki, sesame, ginger taste

* 1/3 cup Curry Chicken which I ate all of ~ so good! (3 points+)

* 2 bites of Pad Thai (eh, it’ was ok) (1 points+)

* Lime Cilantro Rice that I took one bite and decided I didn’t like the huge coriander seeds so I didn’t eat it.

IMG_3085

On our way back home, we had to make one more stop at Fresh & Easy ~ a new store that Tracey has been telling me about.

IMG_3099

I can admit it ~ grocery stores make me HAPPY!  This place is sort of like a cross between Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and a grocery store.  I LOVE their logic all over the signs and foods in the store.

They had me at ~ “INGREDIENTS YOU CAN PRONOUCE”!

IMG_3105

They have a ton of Fresh Meals that you can grab and go.  Some are points+ friendly and others not so much.

Remember those Weight Watchers Fresh Meals I tried ~ I am pretty sure this is the company that made them!

IMG_3109

On my way home, I had to stop for a coffee fix.   My NEW LOWER POINTS+ LOVE!

Venti Iced Americano with 2 pumps of your favorite things for 1 points+ (1 pump coconut & 1 pump mocha or 2 pumps coconut!) and a splash of half/half for 1 points+

I LOVE that you save 2 points+ but I do miss the benefit of checking off my dairy.  It was completely refreshing.

The Husband decided it’s been wayyyyy too long since we visited our friends at Vasquez Deli ~ the BEST tacos in the world!

Since Vasquez doesn’t have their nutritional information online, I looked up the points in my Complete Food Companion.  You could do the same online or Weight Watchers Mobile.

I got 2 Spicy, Crunchy Chicken tacos for 10 points+.

image

This really is the BEST, Spicy Shredded Chicken ever!….it’s so juicy, spicy and melts in your mouth!

IMG_3489

GIVEAWAYS!!!

* WIN A CASE OF REESE’S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS!

* WIN RED WOOD FARMS YOGURT, KEFIR & MORE

I am off to work my bootie off helping our friends out.  I am super proud of me for planning for success by packing a cooler for The Husband and I loaded with healthy snacks, sandwiches & popchips!

Happy Saturday all!  See you all late tonight or tomorrow!

When I first start WW (before I stopped tracking for a while ad hurt my knee) I lost my first 20lbs in about 2 months. I ate every single WPA every single week. My leader always made a point to mention that the WPA is there for a reason and works well with the program. Keep eating, you will not be disappointed. 🙂

What do you use for the bread in your morning eggwich? I love fried egg sandwiches and would love to find 1+ point bread per slice.
    Thanks…

Congrats on the weight loss! Isn’t it funny how sometimes our bodies want more to lose weight and sometimes they want less? I just wish they’d choose one way and stick to it! I used to have to eat a ton of my WPA to lose weight and now I have to use none! >..<

I really wish I had a Whole Foods here just so I could sample their hot foods bar! Sadly, =/ there's nothing like that around here. So thank you for the eye candy <3

    Way to go prepared!!

Great job on the weigh-in! It’s great that eating all your weekly points worked so well! That grocery store does look nice. I love grocery shopping.

I always eat every last wap AND ap and still lose. I was gonna comment last week and tell you your body prob went into hoarding mode because you didn’t eat as much as you are accustomed to. But then I was afraid I’d be totally wrong – ha! I also agree – WW wants the program to work for you. If the extra points were gonna hinder your losses they wouldn’t allow you to have them! 🙂 Eat up!

Congrats! Enjoy those extra points. I like to spend mine on coffee treats and sodas… probably not the best way to spend them, but then I don’t feel like my favorites are off limits. And I’ll be trying your Starbucks order– two pumps of mocha, or maybe one caramel, for me!

I want to know more about Fresh and easy…..I don’t have one super close and there is one in a couple towns over (about 1 and half hours) and I do end up there at least once a month. I have never tried them but I have seen them. What else did you find that was awesome and how many points plus was the brusetta meal you got? Sell the store to me girl lol

Ive been working toward a “Vegas” goal, Ive lost 25 lbs since mid jan, so not as much as I thought I could but enough to see changes in old summer clothing Ive put on and have extra space!!!!

What I transitioned from a full carmel machiatto to a Starbucks “Doubleshot” shaken=
Grande is 4 shots on ice, 1 pump coconut, 1 pump white chocolate and a splash of 1/2 and 1/2….the lattes have waaaaay to much milk……If you like coffee you will love this drink, its strong and tasty!

Congrats on the weight loss! I have a silly question for you…when you say that you used all your WPA, do you mean that you used all your “extra” weekly points on top of your daily goal? OR does WPA mean the bank of “extra” weekly points?

Love your Fresh and Easy pics – except your bananas are 1/2 the price of ours out east…jealous. Congrats of the loss – it always amazes me that we can eat to satisfaction and still lose weight. Keep up the great work!

    Hi Jenna,

I liked Fresh & Easy because everything was reasonably priced, fresh looking and contained REAL INGREDIENTS ~ no frankenfoods. That being said, not all of their prepared meals are points+ friendly but they do have a lot of options that are. Their produce is cheap including the organic produce and if you are a prepared foods person, it’s reasonably priced.

If you are anything like me and love checking out new stores, you should check it out – I don’t think you will be disappointed and it makes for a fun road trip.
