Great Coffee, Good Vibes…Pass it on!

October 13, 2012 by DanicasDaily 14 Comments

Happy Weekend all!  This month’s K-Cup Ambassador Promotion is the one that I have been the most excited to share with you all.  Not only do I get to share some cool discounts and host a giveaway for you all, but, I get to be a part of celebrating National Fair Trade month ~ something I am truly passionate about.

IMG_3097

Did you know that for more than a decade, Green Mountain Coffee® has been a leader in the fair trade movement, providing a better cup of coffee to consumers and a better quality of life for coffee farmers?

Fair Trade means coffee farmers get a fair price for their beans they grow. That means they can invest in crops, their communities, and their futures.

IMG_3085

To help spread the word about Fair Trade, Green Mountain Coffee and acclaimed musicians Grace Potter and Michael Franti are celebrating in a big way with “Great Coffee, Good Vibes, Pass It On” – an awareness campaign that celebrates the good vibes of fair trade through free concerts and an opportunity to win a trip to source.

IMG_3087

As part of the campaign, Grace and Michael were invited to Colombia and Sumatra respectively, to get a first-hand look at how Fair Trade makes a difference in the lives of coffee farmers – and in the coffee you’re drinking.

They both created videos about their experience that are pretty cool.

You can check out Michael Franti’s Great Coffee Video here.

And Grace Potter’s Good Vibes video here.

All Fair Trade Products are currently on sale, but, this month’s promotional code gives you all an additional 10% off all Fair Trade Products.  Just enter “GMCFTC8128” when you check out.  This code is good from now until November 5th.

OH….and one more thing ~ Stay tuned next week because I will be giving away a brand new Orange Keurig Mini Plus with a box of Fair Trade Certified Pumpkin Spice to one lucky reader.

How many of you knew Pumpkin Spice was a Fair Trade Coffee??

Speaking of pumpkins and fall….This morning started off with my fun new pumpkin placemat Open-mouthed smile

IMG_3022

And a bowl of bran flakes topped with a banana and 1 cup ff milk. (SF) – 5 points+

IMG_3018

We spent the morning hanging around the house catching up on things before heading over to the last Farmer’s Market of the season and grabbing lunch at The Joy of Eating.

Teriyaki Chicken Salad with Homemade Sesame Miso Dressing on the side!  I am not sure what it is about this salad, but, I totally crave it at times (SF + 2 WPA for the dressing) – 8 points+

IMG_3100

After stocking up for the week, we stopped at Starbuck’s for an Afternoon Coffee….

Only, I had afternoon “tea” with a Tall, Nonfat Chai Tea Latte (SF + 2 WPA) – 4 points+

IMG_3104

I spent the afternoon in the kitchen cooking up a few things for the week.

I made up Salsa Fresca with the last of our Farmer’s Market tomatoes, peppers & cilantro.

IMG_3113

Whipped up a batch of 2 points+ & 100% Simply Filling Turkey Meatloaf Muffins for quick grab and go protein packed snacks.  (recipe coming up this week).

IMG_3150

While the “muffins” cooked, I prepared a batch of Healthy Pumpkin Butter to go with the mini bagels & cream cheese at my Weight Watchers meeting tomorrow.

IMG_3126

I couldn’t wait to dive into a Turkey Meatloaf Muffin for dinner.  I started off with just one to see if it was enough figuring I’d go back for another if I was still hungry.

IMG_3166

I didn’t need another muffin because I was too busy chowing down on my Delicata Squash!

Remember when I talked about this squash I bought a few weeks back….

IMG_2630

Hands down, the absolutely BEST squash I’ve ever had in my life….skin & all.  I’ll admit I was a little leary about eating the skin, but, it softens as it cooks and makes this squash sautéed in olive oil with onion and a little sea salt – amazing.

It’s slightly sweet like butternut, but, a little like spaghetti squash flavor wise. (SF) – 2 points+

IMG_3163

STATS (12am – 10 pm):

  • 2,592 calories burned
  • 7,772 steps taken
  • 4 WPA used, 4 WPA remaining (21 daily points+)
  • AL stats ~ 3 activity points, 86%

Night all!

I’m glad you’re promoting fair trade certified coffee. I pay “extra” for mine happily knowing that I’m supporting another’s equitable trade. And I didn’t know you could get pumpkin spice fair trade specified! I hope I win the mini Keurig! 😉

I am curious – which bran flakes are considered a Simply Filling food? When I look them up in my book or on the computer they all say 3 points+ no beautiful green triangle anywhere! lol

The pumpkin spice is my favorite coffee. I buy extra at the end of the season so I can drink it year round. I wish it was available all year!

Love the Pumpkin Spice coffee. I’ve been drinking it with the Pumpkin flavored International Delights Creamer. So worth taking 1 pt for. It’s awesome brewed over iced, too! So excited about the contest…would love a Keurig for my office!

    Danica,

Did you make this recipe with your delicata squash? http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/roast_delicata_squash_onions.html

I ask because it looks very similar. If you didn’t and have squash left, I definitely recommend it! I made it last week and it is freaking amazing!

I’m curious to know the recipe for the homemade sesame miso dressing. I love that type of dressing.
