Green Pea Lover!

July 7, 2011 by DanicasDaily 21 Comments

Happy Friday Eve all!  I think that you all LOVE fruit as much as I do and the consensus really was that ANY and ALL summer fruit rocks and we all like to each it by the LB Open-mouthed smile  That’s a good thing though you know….Fruit is loaded with anti-oxidants, vitamins, fiber and there is that whole ZERO POINTS+ thing that always has me going back for me.

Aside from bananas, I think WATERMELON might be the 2nd most consumed fruit now that I can eat more than 1 cup.

Pre workout snack was a banana and Cinnamon Roll Coffee.

I was going to actually do 30 day Shred, Kettle Bells or maybe even the elliptical for today’s workout.  But, when I got to the gym, all I really wanted to do was RUN!!!

I figured I might as well take advantage of that and slammed out a sweaty 35 minute interval run/walk.

I am also pretty sure of TWO THINGS:

1.  I workout for how I feel AFTER ~ it’s seriously the BEST feeling!

2.  I have NEVER laced up my shoes, worked out and though, wow, I should’ve have done that….I NEED to remember that on days when I think the GYM is a bad word.

Breakfast was sort of like yesterday, but, not really…LOL.

I had only TWO Blueberry Kodiak Pancakes with 1 Tbsp PURE Maple Syrup and 1 tsp whipped butter scattered all over (6 points+)

IMG_4133

Plus 3 slices Trader Joe’s Peppered Turkey Bacon (3 points+)

IMG_4132

After breakfast, I headed out with one of my co-workers for Peet’s.  I actually braved an iced coffee…..OMG ~ MUD!

Sorry, I learned I am not a super strong coffee lover…after a splash of half and half and some water, I was much better.

IMG_4137

I think Turkey Bacon may have more “staying power” than Morning Star Sausages because I was FULL all morning ~ 5+ hours.

I pondered eating the lunch I lugged into work with me on the train and looked a little something like yesterday or going to Tacubaya.

Ummmm, Chips, Guacamole & Salsa will win me over ANY DAY!

IMG_4138IMG_4141

First my ~ my FAVORITE salad in the world lately. I so want the recipe for that dressing!

I am IN LOVE with it!  This is only a HALF salad ~ crazy huge (3 points+)

“Ensalada de Primavera– mixed greens, shredded cabbage, carrots, red onion and avocado tossed in a lemon vinaigrette, sprinkled with toasted pumpkin seeds.”

IMG_4140

“Taco de Pollo– crispy taco filled with shredded organic chicken, cheese, cucumber-tomato salsa and cilantro.”  (5 points+)

I think next time I am ordering a BIG CONTAINER of their spicy pickled veggies too…I “might” eat them over chips…maybe…you never know…..

IMG_4142

I was totally “CLASSY” on my train ride.  I forgot my fork so I used my hands Open-mouthed smile

I am also pretty sure that I have almost all the fruits you all said you LOVED in the summer in this bowl too.

IMG_4143

I know you all are going to be SURPRISED that The Husband wanted more Annie’s Mac tonight.

Enter ~ Spirals with Butter & Parmesan.

IMG_4147IMG_4149

7 points+ for HALF OF THE BOX!

IMG_4150

I knew EXACTLY how I wanted to serve it up ~ do you all remember the Mac n Cheese Mix In Bar?! Hello Bacon and Peas and……..

I want to know why so many people do not LOVE GREEN PEAS?!

I can admit it ~ I LOVE Green Peas almost as much as I love Peas & Thank You!

They are vibrant, sweet, crunchy and fun to eat…..you get a ton for a serving….

IMG_4154

Whether they are fresh or frozen (I agree canned is funky!)

Yes, I totally eat them frozen….You can blame my parents for that ~ they often gave us frozen peas and corn for snack = Healthy Treat!

Funny fact…I used to ask for them whenever I saw them in the freezer lol.

IMG_4169

I pondered adding peas to The Husband’s dish but knew he probably wouldn’t eat it if I did…..More for me?! Winking smile

IMG_4155

Peas make your pasta “fancy” and colorful ~ LOVE! Red heart  Red heart  Red heart

IMG_4156

Topped with 2 slices of Trader Joe’s Peppered Turkey Bacon, a little fresh parmesan and black pepper. (10 points+)

….Did I mention dinner took 15 minutes or less to make?

Creamy, salty, sweet, bacon & loaded with tons of flavors and textures = Carbonara!

IMG_4160

I LOVE the way the spirals trap all the cheesy goodness in each swirl.

That salad looks amazing!!! I may have to try and recreate that at home…

I love peas as well, and actually used to eat them frozen as a kid too! Man, how did I lose that healthy snacking habit!? I must go buy some and bring that back, specially when it’s soo hot out!

It’s funny the vegetables that get the bad wrap are normally the best! My favorite vegetables are Brussels sprouts and beets! Whenever I mention this people look at me like I’m crazy.

I love green peas! Hubby is so not a fan though. He’ll eat them in stuff if I take it easy on them, and I mean super easy. I wonder what about them seems to bring out such a love/hate. 🙂

    That pasta looks SO good.

I *LOVE* peas!!! Always have, always will. My husband detests them…especially if they’re all by their lonesome. Apparently, his brother is not a fan either – nor is his 1 year old (my baby nephew)! I, on the other hand, will continue to eat them – especially in pasta dishes.

We have boxes of Annie’s pasta in the cupboard (we always keep stock on hand) – have you ever added a big bag of broccoli cuts to it? I keep a big supply of frozen broccoli on hand (A, it’s zero points and B, it’s a super easy side dish) and usually add an entire bag of it to Mac n’ Cheese. I also add in a can of diced tomatoes or Rotel. It helps to make it super bulky and you get so much more food (I’m a total quantity eater) instead of a tiny bowl of just plain Mac. Tiny bowls of *anything* make me very sad and leave me feeling hungry, so I always make sure to add something else to make sure it looks HUGE! :o)

Everytime I see those Blueberry Kodiak Pancakes my mouth drools..LOL. I never get pancakes – GUESS WHO’s Making Pancakes Tomorrow Morning for Breakfast. YUMMY..
That salad and mixed fruit look wonderful too.
You know what really get’s me – I love peas and so does my hubby. But he doesn’t like fresh or frozen but likes the canned ones. YUCK. I hate the canned ones and love the fresh or frozen. We can never come to an agreement on that one.
I have read alot about how wonderful the annie’s mac-n-cheese is. I have never tried it but think I will pick some up and make that great combo you made with the peas and bacon. Sounds delicious. Maybe I can get my hubs to try it and change his mind about peas…

I LOVE green peas…. I hate spending points on them (& corn!), but I will on occasion. Thankfully, my husband loves them too, so I can use them generously when I’m able to cook for us both. (*we have opposite schedules, so don’t often get to eat together – sucks!*)
    Have a fantastic weekend Danica!

I LOVE green peas! Alot. Have you ever had “mushy peas” from England? They’re not exactly healthy, they’re canned, purred and I’m pretty sure there is fat stirred in. And they’re delicious. Well, to me, my Husband is revolted by them. 🙂 Have a great day Danica! And a fantastic weekend.

I’m a sucker for chips and salsa! Especially when it is fresh at restaurants. So hysterical that you ate frozen peas! I’ve never heard of anyone doing that but I do love peas. Especially in that easy carbonara you made – genius!

    Hi Roz,

No I haven’t but they sound awesome. I LOVED the pea pesto I made so I imagine I would LOVE Mushy Peas especially with butter ~ it would help with the soap taste 🙂
