Happy Friday Eve all! I was wondering yesterday if my “Wordless Wednesday” might require words this week to make sense. I say that because I was totally cracking myself up as I took the picture this weekend and The Husband was like, Um, It’s not “that” funny LOL.
As we were walking along at Universal Studios we saw This Hot Dog Vendor that I thought had a creative sign mocking McDonald’s Billion’s Served with their “Dozens” served ~ funny, right??
Ok….moving on….This morning started with my favorite combo ~ an Eggwich! (5 points+)
- 2 slices Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain Bread (2)
- 1 “Fried” egg (2)
- 1/2 Tbsp Whipped Butter (1)
Consumed with probably wayyyy too much coffee
Lunch today involved leftover Chicken Noodle Soup that The Husband whipped up to make my cold better (5 points+)
Plus Ak-Mak Crackers for CRUNCH!!! (3 points+ for FIVE)
The best cracker dipper ever ~ Pea Pesto!!! Don’t knock it til you try it all you non-pea lovers….it is really delicious, promise (2 points+ for 1/2 cup)
Yup, he totally made the pesto despite his aversion to peas…..that IS LOVE!
Sometimes, you just have to acknowledge the mini Twixes in the jar that is by your desk every single day….I made sure not to eat it until I was driving home because I knew one MINI would make me eat another, then, another….. (2 points+)
I have been craving burgers forever ~ not just any burger, but, Bacon Cheddar Burgers!
Toasted sesame buns with a little BBQ sauce.
Grilled TJ’s 96% Beef Burgers topped with BBQ sauce and 1 oz LF Sharp Cheddar Cheese.
All the “fixin’s” ~ lettuce, onion, tomato.
BACON! (Trader Joe’s Peppered Turkey Bacon)
BBQ, BACON, CHEESEBURGER ~ 10 points+ and totally worth every single one.
Served up with a simple side salad topped with Newman’s Lite Lime (2 points+)
Sometimes the shortest weeks are really the longest weeks! One more day til the weekend and I cannot wait. I will catch up on all your emails, comments, etc. this weekend!
For now…..what is your FAVORITE Burger Topper?
Ummmm, BACON!!! I LOVE BACON, but, I also think you all pretty much knew that
Night all!
Cheese! Really any kind of cheese will do but there MUST BE CHEESE. And also usually ketchup. Yum. Ketchup.
Sauteed mushrooms are the best on top!! Oh, and caramelized onions. With cheese.
I just have to tell you my story….Duffy’s has these delicious kobe beef sliders as a special for the month of Feb…I’ve been craving them all week, since we only have a few more days to get them…oh yes, we’ve had them several times this month 🙂 BUT I am trying NOT to eat out…so I told Bryan yesterday, nope, I am cookin at home all week-end…now I see this burger post…and the sauce, cheese, and bacon just about did me in…gotta have those sliders one last time tonight 🙂
My favorite toppings are cheese (usually cheddar), bacon, lettuce, tomato, ketchup and mustard. I also love making pizza burgers with pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese. SO good!
Haha. My 7 yo daughter is sitting beside me saying “chocolate bread?!” (your eggwich bread). And “Oh Wow! Danica had a Twix!” “What is on her burger???” I think it is hilarious she is calling you by name like she knows you so well. ROFL
I totally got the “Dozens Served” sign! Tell the Hubs he just needs to think like us!
Hi all
About burgers, I switched to minced turkey meat that I season with steak spice. Had some septics at home but everyone was won over. The meat seems soft when put on the grill but sticks nicely together when cooked.
On top, sometimes tzatziiki sauce ( the yogourt based one) or salsa, the then regulars, tomatoes, onions, sometimes mushrooms. Bring the mint gum though because between the sauce and the spices…
I just started following your blog and I am trying to figure out points for a burger…seems hard to do. We are having organic burgers from a restaurant and the best I can figure out without mayo and cheese is 15 points. What do you think?
Hi Allpoints,
I would say your ball park figure for restaurant burgers is correct. I typically break down the ingredients and add up the points+ values when I do not know the nutritional information.
Danica
Raw onions are a must for me on a burger! Hmm..that may be why I’ve been hating mine lately. Must buy an onion!!
Bacon and mustard are my fave burger toppers! A wedge of Laughing Cow cheese is also always tasty 😉
I’m not a pea lover, but that pesto looks so good I might have to give it a try!
My favorite is to mix a little blue cheese crumbles in with the ground beef. Oh and a burger is not a burger without purple onion and tomato. yum. Now i’m hungry!
How do you cook your bacon? I can never get mine as crisp as yours looks.
Hi Valeria,
I cook my turkey bacon in the microwave. Take a large plate, 2 paper towels then add your sliced turkey bacon in a single layer. Top with 1 more paper towel and cook about 1 minute +/- per slice. Sometimes you have to go in and flip it and cook an additional minute. Cooking turkey bacon in the microwave is the ONLY way I can get it crispy.
Danica
Thanks Danica! I will try that the next time I pick some up from TJs!
