Today I went a little crazy at the Farmer’s Market, but, are you surprised? LOL. I just LOVE this time of year and they have so much to choose from with everything being in season. I was a little sad though to see that the nectarines are slowly starting to go out of season 🙁
Ok ~ here we go with everything I bought along with some ideas on how I think I’ll use it.
A HUGE seedless watermelon and cantaloupe.
Two types of organic beans ~ I am going to make a fresh bean salad with them.
A bunch of organic cherry tomatoes – LOVE these! We both snacked on them as we unpacked.
Some fun organic heirloom tomatoes. The farmer I bought them from said the more yellow they are the sweeter they are. He said that as they sit on the counter they ripen up and turn yellow. I had to buy both yellow and green to test them out.
When I got home we sliced one up and shared it. I LOVE tomatoes fresh off the vine and you can really taste the earthy tomatoness of them. It was sweet too.
Colorful organic peppers and a red onion. I am thinking of combining these with some of the tomatoes, garlic, basil and possibly some TJ’s sausage over pasta for a light summer meal.
And finally a pluots and nectarines. The Husband was so cute when he saw all these ~ he was like, wow, you got a bunch of “good” fruits. Hopefully these will last the week!
For breakfast, I decided to bust out one of my fancy new 0 Point yogurts ~ Key Lime Pie Fiber One Yoplait! I LOVED it and it was a nice change from Greek yogurt. You can taste the hints of cinnamon and graham crackers. I highly recommend this flavor – it rocks!
I also couldn’t wait to eat some of our new fruit. So I cut up a white nectarine and a pluot ~ delish! I still can’t believe my breakfast was only 1 Weight Watcher Point – even if I rounded up to 2 points, you can’t beat that!
We spent the rest of the morning trying to figure out vacation plans for the rest of year. I thought it would be fun, but, actually, it’s kind of stressful to decide LOL. Oh well, the good thing is we still have time to figure it out.
Do you all have a favorite place to vacation? We are looking to go somewhere in November and December for sure, but, we are open to other time frames too. Any ideas for places you LOVE would be awesome since we totally cannot decide!
your farmers market finds look so amazing, and i totally can’t wait to try the new yogurts! 🙂
looks like some great finds! and i love vacationing in playa del carmen (mexico), hawaii is always fun and jamaica is super cheap to fly to!
I love browsing through the Farmer’s Market on Sundays. The freshness of the produce cannot be beat.
