Happy Friday all! Thanks for all the birthday wish emails and messages yesterday for The Husband. He definitely had a fantastic birthday and we had so much fun celebrating with family and friends. I am glad that Birthday Week is almost over though because I am ready to get back into my groove and get cooking again.
That is….once this cold goes away. Today was pretty uneventful since I am full on sick now and pretty much just want like tea and soup.
This morning I started with a banana and an egg for protein. (SF) – 2 points+
For lunch, I headed down to the café for Soup – Round 1. I mixed the Minestrone with a small scoop of the chili for a little spice to burn my cold away. I do not know if it is true or not but I had someone once tell me that if you eat really hot foods, your cold will go away faster.
Simply Filling or 5 points+
I totally justified one of their whole wheat rolls because of my cold These rolls are freshly baked every day, you smell them when you walk in and they are so soft they melt in your mouth. (SF + 3 WPA) – 3 points+
Even though absolutely nothing tastes or sounds good and everything smells funky when you are sick…..watermelon is always good anytime. (SF) – 1 points+
When I walked in the door, The Husband couldn’t wait to dig into the Leftover Lasagna Belmonte his mom made for his birthday dinner.
Can you believe I didn’t feel like having any of this oooey – goooey, cheesy, goodness?! I totally blame my cold because I am pretty sure I’ve never turned down anything cheesy in my life lol.
Instead, I whipped up a batch of Butternut Squash Soup on our 100 degree day….I do love this soup anytime though – sick or not.
Topped with a few Black Peppered Almonds and Dried Berry Blend. (SF + 2 WPA for the toppings) or 6 points+.
I am off to catch some zzzz’s and wake up cold free so I can go for a run, walk to Starbuck’s and restock at the Farmer’s Market!

yumm…that soup looks delicious!!!
Hope you are feeling better soon….nothing worse than a summer cold :-{. My remedy is
almost always Egg Drop Soup with red chili sauce to burn away the cold! I have always thought that as well! Take care and stay away from the germs.
Happy Birthday to Hubby and get well soon!
