Step, step, step it up!

July 21, 2012 by DanicasDaily 11 Comments

Happy Saturday all!  I couldn’t resist starting off today’s post with a random fact of the day I heard on the radio as we were driving.  As you all know, Jessica Simpson is doing Weight Watcher’s to take off her baby weight.  She recently bought everyone in her entire meeting pedometers just so they could all focus on getting 10,000 steps a day (5 miles!).  When she handed it out to all of them, she told them all to “step, step, step it up!”  I think that is so cool and I totally have a feeling that saying is going to stick in my head every time I am given the chance to walk somewhere or take the easy route.

I actually had no idea that 10,000 steps translated to 5 miles either.   Definitely somehting to strive for each day just so you can tell everyone you walked 5 miles lol.  Random….but, pretty cool in my book.

This morning we were up bright and early to head out for a long drive to Napa/Lake Berryessa.

We fueled up for our drive by stopping at Starbuck’s.  When we left I thought my Venti Iced Latte with caramel drizzle would be enough for breakfast since I wasn’t starving.  (SF) – 3 points+

But, as we were standing in line I realized I was starving so I picked up a Protein Bistro Box to share.

IMG_9794

I had the egg (SF) – 2 points+

IMG_9801

Plus the fruit which was incredibly refreshing since it was so hot out already (SF).

IMG_9802

Then, gave The Husband the cheese, bread and peanut butter.  If you were to eat the entire box yourself, it’s 10 points+, but, you could totally divide it up to have for breakfast and snack.

I had planned on stopping to take pictures as we drove up to Lake Berryessa, but, only ended up snapping a couple as we drove.

On our way back we stopped by the Farmer’s Market to pick up some corn and squash before heading over to Target & Sam’s Club to stock up on some of the camping foods we will be taking with us next weekend.  I will be sharing our camping menu tomorrow.

We stopped for lunch at Mary’s Pizza Shack.  I had 2 pieces of sour dough to start (4 points+)

IMG_9814

Plus a large Mary’s Salad with Ranch on the side….See the favorite 3 bean salad I meant to make last week.  This salad was so huge, I couldn’t finish it even though my mouth actually wanted to.

SF + 4 WPA for the cheese and about 1 Tbsp Ranch. (7 points+)

After lunch, we stopped at a few more stores before deciding it was just too hot to be outside.  While pondering what to make for dinner (something light that takes little to no effort since we both didn’t’ want to cook), I snack on some watermelon.

We decided on Simply Filling Veggie Flat Out Pizzas!  I thought about making salads to go with it, then, realized, we had “salads” on our pizza Open-mouthed smile

IMG_9824

This Flat Out Amazing Recipe is probably the simplest pizza you will ever make and it really does taste like a delicious, crunchy, thin crust pizza. (100% Simply Filling) – 6 points+ for the entire thing!

  • Multi-Grain Flax Flat Out Wrap (in my opinion, the only flavor that doesn’t taste “diety”)
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Mushrooms
  • Bell Pepper
  • Red onion
  • Sweet Pickled Cherry peppers chopped
  • 1 oz part skim mozzarella
  • Then, once it comes out of the oven, brighten the flavors with fresh tomatoes and basil

IMG_9838

We did A LOT of shopping walking today running errands, buying gifts and getting ready to go camping.  I am so freakin’ excited to go…..I am totally counting the days down!

STATS:

  • 2,985 calories burned
  • 11,005 steps taken
  • WPA – gone, (25 daily points+)

Off to find a movie on Demand!

Night all!

I was looking at Flat Out this week thinking “now which one does Danica say doesn’t taste diety??” I couldn’t remember, so I just didn’t get any. LOL

    Hi Danica,
Thank you again for your daily posts. They are such a great help and motivator for me!
10,000 steps when I was using the WW pedometer was a piece of cake. (Whenever we moved it it was some extra steps.), but with the bodymedia 10,000 steps is a real deal. I could never reach it. Got close to 9,000. 🙂 But I will take that challenge and step it up. I will make it one day this week 🙂
Have a great Sunday and say hello to The Husband for me.

I made the Harvest Grains salad. YUM! Bad thing is that I could probably eat the entire recipe in one sitting. Good thing is I haven’t and won’t! LOL Only thing I didn’t have was the 21 spice salute. I had actually made the trip out to tj’s with my sweetie on date night and bought the everyday seasoning so I just used that and it turned out great. I will try to get the other next time though. And i see what you mean about the harvest grains themselves. They have a wonderful texture. I’d like to play around with them and discover other ways to prepare them. So glad i tried this though. Thanks!

Was calibrating/setting your pedometer difficult? I have had a pedometer on my nightstand for what seems forever, but have never set it; a lot of good it does me gathering dust! After I got the pedometer I had heard people say it was difficult or not accurate for them. Any help or hints are appreciated.

I don’t understand why my WW site keeps saying that the flat out is 3 pps, and you say it is one, what is the diference? Is there something wrong with my app?

      Hi Colleen,

I count the wraps as 3 points+ with my toppings as 2-3 points+. If you see 1 point anywhere on my site it may be from 2 years ago on the old Weight Watchers flex plan.

Another question? Sorry to bother you, but when you make the dirty coconut Iced coffee do you use Half and half or Almond Coconut breeze?

      Hi Colleen,

I do not mind the questions at all. When I order my dirty iced coconut coffee at Starbuck’s i use 1 pump mocha and 1 pump coconut with a splash of 1/2 and 1/2. At home I use coconut coffee or mocha coconut coffee with a splash of fat free vanilla 1/2 and 1/2.

Lake Berryessa – boy did that take me back in time! My dad used to take us there to sit quietly while he fished lol! I sure don’t remember that nice highway – times have changed!

Thank you so very much, I am on WW also, and drink coffee in the am and that’s no problem, I like to make my coffee to take to work, (work Graveyards) Because most Starbucks are closed when I am heading there. So I am finding a altertive(sp) instead of buying anywhere else. They usually have a powered mix, I don’t have the points for! I am trying to find a good coffee mix I can make on my Keruig~. Thank you again and have a great week!
