The Story of Zip

May 23, 2014 by DanicasDaily 4 Comments

Happy Friday Eve all!  Thank you all for the encouraging words as I make my way back into my groove.  I am not sure if I have told you all yet The Story of Zip.  As many of you know, I am totally obsessed with my Fitbit Flex and Flex definitely help to motivate me each day to move more.

The Husband is pretty hilarious when it comes to Flex too.  During our vacation last year to Atlantis, he was not only determined for “US” to hit 10,000 steps a day, but, he would find one of my “friends” on my Fitbit list and be like, ok, we need to pass this person today.  He then would ask me all day long where we were at and if we hadn’t passed them, we would go for a walk – even when it rained!

Since I knew he loved Flex so much, I decided to get him a Fitbit for Christmas.  I know he doesn’t wear bracelets and he would only wear it if he could put it in his pants pocket or something like that and this is where the Story of Zip began.  Zip sat by himself for 3 months…it wasn’t until March that he realized, ohhhh, Zip is just like your Flex, well, I am going to race you to 10,000 steps a day.

He literally cracks me up almost every day because he will race around the house at night if I am ahead (sometimes with me following – ha!) or if he has a few steps to get to the next “thousand” step level.  He walks around with big cheesy grins on days he passes me up and will come running into our workout room if I am on the treadmill telling me to “slow down stepper!” so I won’t pass him up.

My favorite day was the only day he forgot his Zip (he was so sad, OMG, how I can relate as Flex is completely a part of me and I’d be lost without him!)  I told him, it’s ok….I’ll just track all the steps for us today….he was like nooooo LOL.  Needless to say, Zip has become 100% part of our family and Flex/I race The Husband and Zip to the 10,000 step finish any day we can ~ I can honestly say it’s so fun.

The morale of the story, if you have someone who you know will be “competitive” with you and make it fun to move more, I highly recommend a friendly Fitbit Competition!

My latest addiction when making Eggrolls is Sargento’s Ultra Thin Cheese.  Have you all tried this cheese?  It’s the real deal stuff, but, sliced super thin and most are only 1 points+ a slice.  Double up the flavors and your Healthy Eggroll gets that much cheesier.

It’s a nice change from my usual Low-Fat Slices (5 points+)

Yesterday was a pretty rough day, but, I decided to take it out on the treadmill for a lunchtime workout checking off another Couch to 5 K 1.2.  It’s amazing how much better I felt after getting in a good workout ~ Note to self ~ this is definitely a better way to go when stressed ~ success!

As soon as I returned to the office, I dove into my deliciously simple lunch.

Side Salad topped with 1 Tbsp. Trader Joe’s Low-Fat Spicy Peanut Dressing (1 points+)

Plus, an Egg Salad Sandwich!  1 egg, 1 egg white, 1 Tbsp. Low-Fat Mayo, 1 tsp. Mustard, sea salt, black pepper and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper on top of 1 slice 12 grain. (6 points+)

Dessert was a big bowl of watermelon.

When I walked in the door, The Husband said no cooking tonight ~ let’s go to Chipotle ~ OK!

3 Crunchy Chicken Tacos topped with Fresh Tomato & Corn Salsas, a small sprinkle of cheese and extra lettuce (15 points+ for all 3)

After my low points+ Salad Bowl, Tacos are by far my favorite thing to order when I want a “treat”.  I get extra lettuce so after crunching your way through each taco that falls apart as you eat it, you end up with a “taco salad” too. Yum……

I did steal a few of his chips and a little guacamole (my weakness!) 4 points+

STATS:

  • 31 Daily Points+, 5 WPA used, 35 WPA remaining
  • Just shy of 10,000 – will make this up tomorrow!

Have a fantastic Friday all ~ Let the long weekend begin!

Oh! I am totally addicted to my fitbit! I never knew how competitive I was until I got one. My hubby doesn’t download his info for days so I have to guess whether I’m ahead of him or not. Lately my motto is “10,000 steps by 10 am!” I take a long early morning walk and then aim to get 5000 more steps over the course of the day. Fitbit has been a great motivator for me.
    Happy Long Weekend!

Hi Danica – just discovered your site and REALLY appreciate it!! I’m trying to follow WW but can’t afford the meetings – so hard to go it on your own!! LOVE the idea of the FITBIT. Is that where you get the little post you put at the end of all your blogs showing the number of steps you take etc.!!
