Treats

February 6, 2010 by DanicasDaily 12 Comments

You all know I am a total Nut Butter Snob, right?  I mean, I like the simple stuff that is pretty much just straight up dry roasted or raw nuts, nothing added.  However, I have all these super cool Justin’s Packets from both Dot and Kristina that sound delicious.

Hello MAPLE Almond Butter ~ I like the sound of your name!

IMG_8961

I think it’s fun that they use maple sugar, it reminds me of Maple Flakes.  I had to exercise a little will power though and use on 1/2 the packet for 2 points.  Yup these packets rack up a total of 5 points for the entire thing ~ crazy, huh?!)

IMG_8962

I made up a banana sandwich (4 pts) with a Grande DIRTY LATTE (3 pts) The Husband treated me to.  You might be thinking I spent a few more points on breakfast than usual, but, I was working my healthy guidelines ~ I can check off 2 fruits and a dairy – not too bad, right?

IMG_8971

I LOVED how creamy this almond butter was with a light maple flavor and tasty dry roasted almonds.  It was not oily at all like other brands that add palm oil.  I LOVED it and would totally buy the packets or jar!!!!

IMG_8976

After my morning long meetings, I was parched ;)  Sobe Orange Tangerine Life water and a Sargento Low-Fat Colby Cheese (1 pt).  Super cool thing on these life waters ~ The Husband actually digs them now too and may give up some (not all) of his soda ~ AWESOME!

IMG_8977

All week long my co-worker said she wanted to treat me to lunch since I shared my Crock Pot Kung Pao Cashew Chicken.  I told her she totally didn’t need to because well, I can only freeze so much and I can only post it so much on here before you all get bored seeing the same thing….But, she insisted…..How can a girl resist this deliciousness!

Panda Express 3 point Mushroom Chicken!

IMG_8540

My latest addiction FIRE CRACKER CHICKEN! (4 pts estimated)

IMG_8541

My usual side of veggies (minus the broccoli for some reason) instead of chow mein or rice.

IMG_8982

YUM!!! I LOVE it when I can have a HUGE plate of Healthy  Chinese Food for only 7 points ~ seriously, how good does this look?  I’d say I met my veggie and oil requirements too!

IMG_8978

The ultimate bribery came when we decided Over The Top Shop Froyo was for dessert :D  I am pretty sure I cannot say no to soft serve frozen yogurt because well it’s like my FAVORITE TREAT in the whole wide world.

IMG_8984

I had fat free pineapple and fat free vanilla with sprinkles, yogurt chips, this funky strawberry yogurt crunch and a little “treat” HEATH BAR CRUNCH! (5 pts)

IMG_8987

After work we went to watch my super tall niece (b/c she is taller than me) 😀 play in a basketball game ~ she is such a BALLER!  We LOVED watching her work the court and even make a 3 pointer.  I shared this bag of Trader Joe’s Cashews with The Husband on the way to the game (2 pts)

IMG_8995

After the game we headed over to Lower’s to pick up rocks for my garden box.  I am getting so excited – it’s almost done!  Then, we stopped at Rubio’s where I ordered the most disappointing Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos with salsa and no creamy chipotle sauce (health mex style).

IMG_9007

They are nothing like their description….That funky yellow stuff is the cheese which I thought would be cool.  But, really, it just made them super salty.  The AVOCADO was so little along with no cabbage 🙁 There are so few points in a day, it’s a bummer to waste them on things that don’t taste good.  These two tacos came in at 5 points each.  I had a couple chips dipped in the beans as well, but, didn’t finish either.

IMG_9006

I didn’t realize until now that I was pretty much “treated” to everything all day long – FUN!

I love that Justin’s Almond Butter! I’ve gone through quite a few(the 16oz jars, not the squeeze packs)

I’ve been seeing Justin’s Natural all over the place in the blog world. I think I need to get some IMMEDIATELY. I got some Barney Butter after hearing so much about it, but it just isn’t doing it for me. The way you describe this one definitely makes it sound more up my alley.

Mmmm I absolutely love that almond butter! So good. Is the firecracker chicken different than their sweet & fiery chicken? The one with the pineapples? Because that one was deceivingly not healthy, even though it had a “healthy symbol!” And that froyo looks amazing. Yummm.

    Hi Tay,

Yes, it is the non batter fried version. They are making a stir fry version now that is healthy so I was all over that. I haven’t seen the nutritionals yet, but, I am estimating it between green brean and kung pao? I remember you talking about the Pineapple one…..It sits next to it at their counter.

    Hi Melissa,

You know, I am not a fan of Barney Butter either – it’s just well, wierd to me. I did not think the Maple Almond Butter one was too sweet – it had a nice balance like a honey roasted almond. You could taste the dry roasted nuts with a hint of maple. I LIKED that. I am not into peanut butter lately, but, I did try the Justin’s cinnamon and thought it was just ok…..but, I think that has more to do with the fact that I am into almonds more right now 🙂

    Hope that helps,

    Danica

Good luck finding it Christine. I highly recommend the Almond Butters over the PB’s. I am hoping to stock it soon in my Open Sky shop so it should make it easier to order 🙂
