This morning I actually woke up late because I was “dreaming” I was hitting the SNOOZE button like 5 times….in reality, I actually DID hit it that many times! I woke up with about 15 minutes before I had to leave for the train.
In a mad frenzy, I forgot my make up bag and my umbrella (it poured today), but, I managed to pack plenty of GOOD EATS lol…..
Pre-workout snack ~ a banana, COCONUT COFFEE and water!
I hopped on the treadmill all ready to get my C25K on when I realized…..ugh ~ I forgot my inhaler. As much as I would’ve LOVED to run, I knew I couldn’t take the chance with my asthma. So I IMPROVISED!
Today’s workout session was a face paced weight workout with no downtime.
5 minute warm up on the treadmill followed with a little stretching
Then, I did 3 sets of 10-12 on each of the following always in constant motion
* Leg Press and Chest Press
* Calf Raises and Bicep Curls
* Hamstring Curls and Static Tricep Press
* Lat Pull Downs and 60 Crunches (regular, oblique’s and leg raises)
* Seated Row and Sumo Squats
* 30 pushups in between sets with 30 second plank holds after each set
* 5 minutes of deep static stretching
I couldn’t wait to dig into breakfast. I had planned on making a Cheesy Sausage McMuffin but I forgot my cheese….
Morning Star Breakfast Sausage (2 points+)
Orowheat Double Fiber English Muffin with 1 Tbsp Whipped Butter (5 points+)
Plus a big bowl of fruit!
Breakfast kept me going for over 5 hours…..it also helped that I was busy planning The Husband’s birthday surprise at lunch
When I grilled our chicken last night, I also grilled a few burgers for lunches.
Trader Joe’s Chili Lime Chicken Burger (3 points+) ~ I LOVE These!
I saw these Lesser Evil Krinkle Sticks in our vending machine and was intrigued.
What is up with the .2 of a serving LOL….I shared with my co-worker and counted them as 3 points+ for my 1.0 serving.
It was fun to have “fries” with lunch….they sort of have a just out of the oven flavor.
I rounded out lunch with a BIG Salad topped with 2 Tbsp TJ’s Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette (2 points+)
Oh and that CHEESE I was looking for this morning ~ oops! (1 points+)
Since it poured RAIN all day long, I decided to change out our planned BLTA’s for Chicken Tortilla Soup.
I picked up this Plentiful Pantry Tortilla Soup awhile back at a Home & Garden Show we went to.
I couldn’t resist when the soup itself is only 2 points+ a serving and you can add a bunch of mix-ins to bulk it up.
I added 1 lb Organic Chicken, 1 Bell Pepper, 1 Onion, 1 can creamed corn and 2 additional cups of water ~ it made 20 cups!
While the soup cooked, I made a little “toppings” bar so we could add everything to our soup!
The salsa I am IN LOVE with at the moment.
Organic Blue Tortilla Chips!
Real Deal Pepper Jack Cheese!
Toppings make eating soup for dinner fun!
2 cups All dressed up with 1/4 avocado, salsa, tomato, green onions, cilantro, tomatoes and 8 g cheese. (6 points+)
As everything was cooking I kept thinking about how good the pepperjack cheese would taste on nachos.
So….I made “cheesy” nachos and used them to scoop up my soup! BEST IDEA EVER….way better than crushing them in my soup.
1 oz tortilla chips plus 20 grams pepperjack (6 points+)
Last week I had a chance to participate with a bunch of bloggers in the launch of Hungry Girl’s new Crystal Lite Mock Tail Flavors ~ Margarita, Mojito & Appletini. Thanks to the folks over at Crystal Light for sending me a sample to try as part of the launch.
They challenged everyone to take the Crystal Light Flavor over Fizz Challenge and give up soda in exchange for these delicious new flavors. You can read about the challenge here.
If you can find these flavors ~ check them out. They are a limited edition for this summer only…once they are gone, they are gone.
I LOVE them ~ they totally taste like a refreshing margarita complete with the tequila flavor.
Margaritas + Mexican Food are totally the perfect match!
Off to bond with my new issue of Clean Eating Magazine!

Night all!
Oh!! I’ve had that soup before from a gift basket I got a long time ago! I loved it! 🙂 yum yum!
I hate waking up late!! Good for you for keeping to your workout though! There’s some days where it just feels like everything is against you getting in a good workout!
Those Crystal Light drinks look amazing! I hope I find them in stores sometime. I generally stay away from Crystal Light because the artificial sweeteners make me sick..but those sound worth it!
Thanks for reminding me with your issue of Clean Eating to send in my subscription card! I’ve been buying them at rack price and realized I should just subscribe. >.<
Ooohh I love those Chile Lime burgers too! YUM!
That soup looks divine!
I have been looking EVRYWHERE for the Crystal Light flavours! I am so disappointed I haven’t found them anywhere! 🙁
Can’t wait to try the new Crystal Light! Always want to try tortilla soup, but never thought about adding toppings! LOVE Clean Eating…have you tried their cookbook? It’s terrific!
I love the idea of a “topping bar” for the soup, we’ve been having alot of rain so I need to try that. I also love the idea of the Crystal Light new flavors. 🙂
I hate when I over sleep! SO stressful.
I sure hope the Crystal Light Margarita flavor is in my area. It sounds so good.
Thanks Danica, you have pointed me in the direction of so many of my new favorites. So I thought I’d tell you about some great cookies that I just bought at Whole Foods.
They’re an all natural Chocolate Chip Cookie with no trans fat They are made by the Dancing Deer Baking Co. that bake from scratch with nothing artificial.
They are a shortbread type cookie with mini choc. chips. The box has twelve cookies in it…..wrapped in individual packs of two cookies each. Which is great to keep them fresh. Two cookies are 3 points plus.
I’m finding myself having two cookies with tea every morning. Love them.
Oooo I like your workout! The combo moves always get me.
We went to Trader Joe’s to stock up and I’m almost ashamed to say that I have eaten those Chilie Lime Burgers for the past four nights straight! They are an absolute favorite of mine!! Try them on a sandwich thin with a wedge of Laughing Cow Chile Con Queso flavored cheese. Soooo spicy good!
I say the Crystal Light Margarita mixes in the grocery store this week and passed them up. I didn’t think they would taste good, however now I’m anxious to give them a try. Sounds like it would be the perfect compliment to the Chile Lime burgers. 🙂
I HATE when I wake up late….seems to set the whole day off on the wrong foot. I’m hoping the Crystal Light special editions make their way up to Canada this summer. Have a great day Danica!
Love your soup toppings! Yum, yum.
Hi Gail,
No I haven’t but I have picked up that cookbook/set it down a bunch of times! I think I NEED to get it already ~ especially since it has your seal of approval 😀
Danica
I definitely want to try those crystal light mocktails!! They sound so good. Unfortunately, they aren’t selling them in Canada. We are visiting Kalispell, MT for a day in July and so I hope to find them!!
