OK a few words. One question I get often is what are my favorite Weight Watchers friendly low smartpoint snacks that keep you full. I always pair a fruit and/or vegetable with a protein and/or healthy fat. This combination works at keeping me content between meals for 3-4 hours. Here are just a few of my favorite things. Questions on any, let me know.

Danica please don’t take this the wrong way but you have been on weight watchers for years and still have not reached your goal. How do you stay motivated? I am scared to try weight watchers cause I am not sure if it works as it doesn’t seem to for you? Do you cheat a lot because you seem to say you lose 2lbs a week and if you times that by 2 years well you should be at goal. I am really curious as to know even try WW.
Hi Kathy,
Thank you for asking as I know it’s not easy to do and no offense taken. Honestly I’ve struggled with my weight off and on my entire life. I’ve probably tried just about every diet out there and you may have seen a few others I’ve tried on my site as well. I always come back to Weight Watchers as for me it’s the most livable, long term solution that I can lose and maintain versus a quick fix that you lose weight but gain it back when you return to “normal” eating. While I have successfully lost 65 lbs and maintained that loss for over 5 years, I have also gained some of that weight back at times when I do not stay the course. In a sense, I’ve lost and gained the same 5 lbs so many times I cannot count.
As life gets in the way at times, I may not be following the program/tracking 100% and losing weight, I still do attend Weight Watchers just to maintain or not get out of control gaining. I think the end result for me would be so much worse if I did not keep myself in check that way. I’m not perfect and it’s easy to gain weight back just 5 lbs at a time that I’ll lose next week. Eventually I find my way back and get back in my groove of losing weight again and I know I’ll reach my goal/maintenance again too. That’s where I’m at now and I’ve decided to put myself first to lose what I gained back. I have about 30 lbs to go again.
I stay motivated by thinking about my end goal and what I want from it. I feel so much better about myself when I’m eating right and exercising which helps me be a better version of me. I focus on being persistent over being perfect as that makes the plan livable. I also make sure to mix things up making food I’m excited about and trying new recipes. I focus on just losing 5 lbs at a time, being honest with myself tracking it all whether it’s a good or not so good day….Then, I let those daily successes build on each other. Before you know it, your making great progress and sometimes it’s not always about the scale. It’s about living a healthy lifestyle and for me that will always be with Weight Watchers at my goal or not.
I definitely recommend it and say don’t be afraid. You never know if it’s the right plan for you unless you take that first step to try it.
Good luck and let me know if I can do anything to help.

Danica,
What a kind and positive reply to this comment! The whole thing is something we all really struggle with! I’ve been a WW Lifetime member since my early 20’s when I first started attending meetings in 2000. While I’ve gone up and down a lot during that time, I know the program works and whenever I return to doing the plan I enjoy the results. By weighing in every month, I get to maintain my lifetime status and just pay when I’m up. Even when I’m up, I still, like you, know that I’m better off than if I didn’t attend. Keep up the good work and thanks for the inspiration to refocus again today. (I was feeling pretty discouraged before my WW meeting yesterday but am going to try the Simply filling plan and see how that goes!)
Have a great day!
Elisa
Thanks Elisa, I really appreciate your comment and sharing your journey. You are definitely right and I know you’ll get back to your happy place in no time at all. I love the Simply Filling technique. Here is a post I did awhile back if it helps you out with it.

Danica, Weight Watchers becomes a state of mind. My doctor told me years ago WW was the most sensible way to manage your health and weight. I believe that. I am constantly managing and the results vary. I do attribute a large part of my successes to your blog. I thank you for the variation of what you eat and that you are discerning of the ingredients you consume. I read and reference your blog daily for ideas and inspiration. I appreciate the time you take to help the rest of us along on this journey. Especially me. Thank you!!?? ~julia

I just discovered your blog after googling Weight Watchers blogs, and I love it! I too keep coming back to Weight Watchers. Although I follow an older Points plan, I still love the basic structure of the plan that doesn’t change, like the zero fruits and veg. I will look for an email sign up for your blog to get the latest posts!
