All that and a bag of chips!

August 8, 2012 by DanicasDaily 6 Comments

Happy Wednesday all!  Doesn’t today “feel” like it should be Thursday….maybe that is just wishful thinking.  So, this morning started off on a really great note ~ I was up early on the treadmill and blasted out my 30 minute jog/walk sprinting my last running segment at 7.5 mph.  Success!

I think it really helped having The Husband in there working out while he watched the news and looked at his Ipad ~ somehow he managed all that and here I thought I needed all the distractions lol.

I had planned on making us breakfast burritos using that homemade Salsa Fresca, but, somewhere along the way the clock moved faster than I did.

Breakfast turned into a banana in the car…..

Then, an egg on the way to my 2nd morning meeting (SF) – 2 points+.

IMG_9087

That pretty much did nothing for me and I was still hungry an hour later so I opted for my watermelon & Sargento Light String Cheese (SF) – 1 points+.

Today we had a going away lunch for one of my co-workers and she picked Tres Hermanas for all of us to celebrate her promotion.  I checked out their menu online to make sure I could find a Simply Filling option and so I would not be tempted to change my mind when I saw the menu.

I 100 million percent know better than to let them stick the basket of chips right in front of me.  I normally count out my 12 chips on a napkin and break them down in pieces as I eat them with salsa to make them last.

But today ~ total fail!  I pretty much split this basket with my co-worker. 12 chips = 4 points+ so I am going to chalk it up to two servings and make it SF + 8 WPA.

I totally blame the spoonable salsa for it Open-mouthed smile  Actually, I know better than to have chips and salsa when I have been craving them for 2 weeks….it definitely makes portion control more challenging when you mentally think you “have to have them”!

My order almost came out perfect.  I ordered the Grilled Chicken Taco Salad without cheese, sour cream or dressing.  I scooped the sour cream off and just went with the cheese.

I skipped eating the shell (probably easier because I had my chip fill lol ~ success!)

Then, I only managed to eat about half of the salad – it was huge.

Romaine lettuce, salsa fresca, guacamole (SF+1 WPA), cheese (SF+ 2 WPA), whole pinto & black beans, grilled chicken and salsa for dressing. 10 points+

To burn off all those chips, we decided to walk a few blocks to get Grande Iced Nonfat Lattes. (SF) – 2 points+

I was pretty much prepared to not eat dinner at all or to have something really lite like fruit.  On my way home, The Husband asked if I’d meet him at Chipotle and of course I said yes…..I mean, who ever gets tired of Chipotle.

Not exactly light, but, every single thing I ate today was delicious and worth it!  I only managed eating about half of this chicken burrito bowl.

You can determine the points+ of anything you put in your bowl by visiting Chipotlefan.com.  My entire bowl is (SF+ 4 WPA for the guacamole) or 12 points+ for the entire bowl.   I may or may not have stole a couple of The Husband’s chips to go with my guacamole guacamole because you know, I NEEDED more *sigh*.  Glad I at least ran this morning!

  • romaine
  • fajita veggies
  • chicken
  • 2 types of salsa ~ corn & pico de gallo
  • Guacamole!
  • I skipped the cheese (mid toss so a little got on there), beans and rice.

STATS for today (12 am – 9 pm)

  • 2,502 calories burned
  • 8,567 steps taken
  • 15 WPA used, 9 WPA remaining (29 daily points+)

You are my hero for not eating the bowl. To me, that flaky, crispy, light bowl is the most AWESOME “chip” to be dipped ever!!!! Now, have I made you regret not eating it??? LOL, kidding. I have major issues with Mexican. We rarely get to eat it, and when we do we always order cheese dip. Please just let me think that’s healthy! 😉

Tres Hermanas is AMAZING…I could have a whole lunch of their chips and salsa (who gives that free anymore?!?!?!) And then the entree comes and is huge and delicious! And as an extra bonus I have wonderful memories of the building/venue as the ORIGINAL Celestin, long moved and now closed.

Oh man chips and salsa are one of my cravings too. I love mexican food period! In Texas brisket burritos and tacos are soo soo good. They don’t have them out east so when we go back to visit I know it will be hard for me to manage portion control as well. I recently had a girls night out and my husband is away with the military and managed to surprise us with a dessert extravaganza. I mean how do you say no to creme brulee, tiramisu, cannoli, and truffles especially when its ordered from halfway around the world. 🙂 Thankfully I had five other people to share the bounty with. So I took really small portions of each, counted it all and used my wpa. Thank goodness for the wpa!

You are amazing and so real! I thank you for being human, when you are in a situation you made the best decision you could. I really applaud you for that. Tomorrow is back to the drawing board.

Dolores has said it the best! You are very real, and if we are all to stay on this journey for the rest of our lives, we MUST learn to also accept those failures as part of the journey…you have showed me how to do that, and still succeed! You are loved Danica 🙂
