Happy Sunday all! I have so many things to share with you all it’s hard to know where to start. I think the best place to start is with our 6th Annual Las Vegas Recap, then, move on to camping (maybe), Alaska Cruise (all 4 stops) and finishing with our Seattle Highlights. I have a few giveaways to throw in the mix too.
Every year we head to Las Vegas for The Husband’s Casino Chip Convention (yep, it’s a real thing and he can spend hours looking at old casino poker chips). I usually spend a little time at the spa and scope out new things for us to try that we have not tried before.
Of course, I always have a Food Agenda too!
We usually have one breakfast out……
And the rest we cook in…this trip, I was IN LOVE with bacon and fried eggs – I had it every day.
Lunch is usually just some fruit or snacks because it’s so hot or maybe a stop at Samurai Sam’s. But, this year, we discovered quite possibly my favorite new lunch spot in Las Vegas ~ Jason’s Deli! Yep, it’s a chain….that we do not have in Northern California (wish we did!)
They offer a ton of salads, sandwiches, soups….but, my favorite thing, is their salad bar!
I piled my mixed greens with a ton of veggies, hummus, olives, mixed salads, an egg and 2 mini muffins.
It gets better from there…..everyone gets Free Ice Cream with their meal!
We did not try a new dinner restaurant this year, but, made sure we got our BBQ fix at John Mull’s and our Italian Fix at The Bootlegger Bistro.
Maria’s Panetti Breads (picture garlic bread bites) with tomato basil dip are totally addictive.
This summer I cannot get enough of two things: Caprese Salads…
And anything made with Shrimp.
The Garlic Shrimp tossed with fresh tomatoes & white wine was phenomenal. I could’ve probably eaten this every night and definitely plan on recreating it.
The other place that is The Husband’s must go to spot when we visit old town is the Triple George Grill. Every meal is served with hot fresh sour dough bread and this garlic, herb olive oil with a splash of red wine vinegar for dipping.
I love that they used baby kale and greens for the base of the Caprese Salad.
And that they served shrimp on my filet mignon because I couldn’t decide between the surf or the turf.
Served up with garlic mash and these cute baby squash.
Yum! I ate all the veggies and shrimp with half my steak and potatoes….he finished the rest.
The Mob Museum has to be one of the coolest exhibits we have visited yet. It is located downtown in the original Federal Courthouse and the US Post Office where the Mob Hearings were held.
It is very interactive with plenty to read, watch, see and test out. It is a pretty amazing documentation of the rise and fall of the Mob.
Complete with a Casino Chip Collection that he was able to geek out over.
There are 4 floors that you walk through beginning at the top where you get put in a line up.
I kept telling him to smile……but, he wouldn’t
It is pretty fascinating to see the history of events as well as read about the people involved.
There are several cool original artifacts and letters that have been donated to the museum.
Including the original St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Wall that has each brick numbered and was reassembled in the order it was built.
You can watch a video in the courtroom and see the testimonies of the Kefauver Hearings.
At the end, you get to walk into a vault that has paper money replicas with the stories behind each stack in the room ~ it’s pretty amazing.
That pretty much highlights are mini Vegas Vacation this year. We got lucky with the weather being in the 90’s in June. Until next year, here are highlights of my past Vegas Posts…..

See you all later this week with our Camping in Lake Tahoe Highlights.
Night all!
We’re going to Vegas in a few weeks, so I bookmarked a few of those places on Yelp. Here is one for you, Freed’s. A fantastic Jewish Bakery. You don’t even have to buy anything if you don’t want. When you check in and post a pic, they give you 6 free small cookies. Another one we love is Luv-It frozen custard downtown and we had some great tacos at some taco shack on the strip( close to downtown). Check out my Yelp Reviews Randi, Calicakes M.
Oh and I can’t wait to hear about Alaska, we’re going on a Cruise Sept 2015.
I love Jason’s deli. Their mufalatas, sandwiches, wraps and soups are the best. We have one next to where I work and we go almost everyday to eat lunch.Their salads are good too but I think the wraps are the best I have eaten anywhere
I never get sick of Vegas! I am thinking of spending my birthday there next year! I’ll have to check out your Vegas list! And I am glad you can appreciate Jason’s Deli. They cater practically every event we have at work, so I am quite over them! haha Have fun camping!
So glad to see a post from you again, Danica. Have missed you!
We would have a great time together in LV….the food, the venues, etc. are just what we like to do. We have not made it to the Mob Museum, it looks interesting. We miss that little jaunt across the dessert. Glad you had such a good time.
The different food dishes look so delicious! It looks like you had a blast! Loved this post!
awww, sounds like such a fun trip! you guys are always going and doing the most fun things!! love you 🙂
