Pick a goal….Any goal!

June 3, 2012 by DanicasDaily 17 Comments

Happy Sunday all!  This morning’s meeting was totally in line with what I have been thinking about this past week now that my Memorial Day goal has ended.  For those wondering, I managed to lose 5 lbs towards that goal.  All week long I have been pondering the question of “What’s Next?”

Followed up by this phrase rambling in my head ~ Pick a goal……Any goal!

Make it short term or make it long term ~ just pick one!

IMG_7746

I was debating between two goals that some may consider short term, but, I considered short and long term.

Short ~ July 4th

Long ~ Labor Day

And then, my Weight Watcher leader made it easy ~ she had us all write post cards to ourselves with what we wanted to accomplish by July 3rd.

IMG_7749

I do not want to stop there and decided that I want a LONG TERM goal to focus on through the summer (Labor Day!).

After achieving my July 4th Goal, I plan to continue them and add on the following with:

  • Lose 10 lbs from now until Labor Day
  • Run at least one 5K with my new found running buddy who also owns a MINI Open-mouthed smile
  • Go Simply Filling for a minimum of 2 weeks ~ they do not have to be consecutive but I want to bring my focus back to Power Foods and focus on getting in my good health guidelines BEFORE I add in anything else.

I think that is a great starting point and I feel ready to FOCUS!  The past two weeks were rough as I am completely challenged when I fall out of my routine.  I am glad I maintained this week at weigh, but, I am ready to see that scale move onward and downward!

Today started with a Dirty Coconut Iced Coffee and  banana (2 points+).

IMG_7751

We spent the morning driving around and buying everything we need to go on our first Camping Trip with my Sis and her family this summer.  I am so freakin’ excited because we have never camped together and I haven’t camped since my parents Jeep Club Days.

Instead of grabbing lunch out, we decided to stop at home and make it ~ SUCCESS!

I really have been wanting to try this new Laughing Cow Garden Vegetable flavor.  It’s good but not really much different than the original.

IMG_7754

I also wanted to use up my Red Pepper Spread……

IMG_7756IMG_7775

This is delicious on sandwiches, egg wiches, in soup and on wraps.  You do not even taste the egg plant.

IMG_7776

The Husband who is an Olive Freak couldn’t wait to try his spread…..

IMG_7773

For those who LOVE green olives (like him!)

IMG_7774

My wrap started with a Laughing Cow Wedge, Red Pepper spread, green onions and jalapenos.

IMG_7761

He had Laughing Cow, Green Olive Tapenade and green onions.

IMG_7778

Both topped with organic greens….

IMG_7762

2 oz Brown Sugar Baked Ham and 1 slice Jarlsberg Lite Swiss.

IMG_7767

Tightly rolled up in a Trader Joe’s Organic Corn & Flour Tortilla, then, sliced in half.

IMG_7770

While I made up the wraps, he was in charge of the veggies with lite ranch ~ can you tell?! I was totally cracking up at how proud he was of his “decorated” platter. (1 points+ for the dip)

IMG_7787

7 points+ for each wrap!

IMG_7791

I stole some of his Baked Sour Cream and Cheddar Ruffles when I saw you get 11 chips for 1 points+ (deal!)

IMG_7799

Mid afternoon while I finally caught up on all my emails, comments, etc, we shared some berries and cherries.

IMG_7802

All weekend long we have wanted to grill burgers and tonight, we finally did.

Start by toasting up the buns then topping with the “secret sauce” and a big pile of organic mixed greens.

IMG_7811

Add a delicious lean Cheeseburger and top with thick tomato slices and pickles.

IMG_7813

Then, serve with a big pile of crunchy parmesan Kale Chips.(10 points+ for everything on my plate)

IMG_7817

STATS: (12am – 645 pm)

  • 21 daily points+ (I am planning on having trail mix later for 4 points+)
  • 2,019 calories burned
  • 3, 948 steps taken

HERE IS WHAT IS ON THE MENU THIS WEEK

~ (a few repeats since there wasn’t a whole lotta of cooking going on last week)

  • Asian Beef, Asparagus & Mushroom Bowls
  • Chicken & Kale Orecchiette (bucket pasta!) toss, salad
  • Baked Spaghetti or Spaghetti with Meatballs, salad
  • Sweet Potato Nachos
  • Grilled Thai Turkey Salad

Q’s

What goal did you pick?  Is it short term, long term or both?

Fingers crossed I can finally have a normal week back in my routine this week ~ it’s another one of my goals along with delivering a daily to you all every day. Now, if only my schedule will cooperate.

Night all!

My goal is to do less in life and more for me. For the next 3 months I’m putting me first. I’m tracking, being a conscious eater and exercising more. Three months, 90 days and a lot of discipline!

I’ve missed the last two Weight Watchers meetings because of vacation and a dentist appointment so I’m itching to get back into the swing of things…
I know we talked about meeting for lunch before our office moves to Rancho Cordova, which will be a week from Monday, and I’m sorry I haven’t gotten back to you on that. Live have been crazy! If you’d like to get together sometime this week, let me know, or if you’re ever in the area and want to meet up, let me know that too!

PS, I also tend to go to Napa every now and then so that’s another option!

May 31st I decided on a 5lb loss by July 1st and more exercise as I’m at the same standstill as a few years ago, can’t budge. I know the exercise will help but can’t seem to fit it in. Here we are at June 4th and I’m no further ahead. I will try to make this goal along with you and the others. Maybe it till help motivate me. Thanks for sharing with us. I love checking in here.

I was happy to see your post this morning about goals. I have been at a standstill for a couple of months and am so frustrated but I’m going to work extra hard this month. I am going on vacation at the end of August and would LOVE to be in a bikini. I think I’m only about 5 pounds away.

    That wrap looks delicious!!

Are those chips really only 1++ for 11? That seems too good to be true! 🙂

At my WW meeting last week I got really inspired about exercise. Following their example, I challenged my WW buddies to set a personal six week exercise goal- mine is 35 points per week. Six of my besties are joining me. I promised a prize to anyone who sticks with it. I was great while the sun was shining- bike, canoe, hike- such a pleasure. Now it’s been raining for 3 days and I had to get in 4 more points to hit my goal. Decided to clean house- YUK! Just finished my 4 points for today and my 35 points for the week AND my house is cleaner! Win-win-win for week 1!

Any brillant ideas for a prize? Under $10, easy to mail because we are all spread out this summer and related to exercise? Water bottles? Thanks for your blog, Danica. I am inspired EVERY day!

GO MINI’S! I agree. I love the idea of a short and a little longer term goal. My short term July 4th goals are: 1) take a dang yoga class already! and 2) get in all my training runs for the 1/2 in August. My long term goals are: 1) ween off the processed foods and eat a primarily whole food/”clean” diet and 2) Run a 5k with Danica (maybe even a 10k??! remember you can always walk to second half :)!!

I have 3 points for the chips as well. They come in mini bags and one bag has 3 points plus and contains about 11 chips (those are big chips).

I feel the 21 points for this delicious and great planned day are little low. The burger should be more as well.

Congratulations though on your loss. So as long as you lose it’s all good 🙂

I just started WW at the beginning of May. Reached my first 5 pounds lost, yay.
Thanks to your goals post, I dug in and came up with my own. The hardest thing for me is food journaling and staying hydrated, but I’ve written it down and stuck it on my mirror so I see it every day.
    Thanks for doing this blog.

I’ve been reading thru some of your older posts again looking for motivation, and I started a July goal also…mine is going to 8/25 (not quite labour day, but my b’day) an it is to exercise 1, maybe 2 or even 3 times a day…how am I doing? Well, it’s 7/4 and I’ve earned 27 AP in 4 days so far, and the days not over yet…a personal best for me 🙂 Good luck on yours too Danica!!
