Happy Monday everyone! Thanks for all your kinds words regarding my weigh in on my last post. I know this week is still going to be challenging since we are on Winter Break (translation ~ doing fun things instead of work all week!) But, I am FOCUSED on starting the New Year off with a loss next Sunday.
The Husband declared today a “SNOW DAY” as soon as he got up. I think that is one thing I LOVE most about California and where we live ~ we are just a couple of hours from the beach and a couple of hours from the snow. We can visit the “snow” and not have to dig our cars our everyday . Sorry my East Coast Friends but, I don’t miss living in the snow at all!
After quickly getting ready, I packed up snacks and we were on the road. Breakfast was a naner. (0 points+)
Whenever we take a road trip, Starbuck’s is a must. I got my usual Dirty Latte (4 points+)
A Dirty Latte is a regular latte (hot or iced) with only 1 pump of Mocha. Each pump of Mocha is 1 points+ and I don’t like how sweet they make their usual mochas.
I LOVE them ~ it tastes just like chocolate milk and it’s fun to go into Starbuck’s with a “HUSKY” Voice and order….looking around, a DIRTY LATTE. (Oh, ok, they all know me there and know my order, but, it sounded fun to write that!)
I had visions of busting out my new camera and testing out all the “modes” on our drive. But, when, it came down to it, I didn’t want to FREEZE in the snow since we were going to be gone all day.
Here are just a few that I snapped from the car as we drove to Reno. Can you believe California has only had like 2 or 3 snow storms so far this year and they have this much snow?
I have so much to learn about my camera, but, it was fun to start using it
Road trip snacks ~ I let The Husband pick the string cheese this time (3 points+ for pepperjack versus 1-2 for Mozzarella) and a pear.
I am pretty sure we will be taking another trip up to go TUBING in the near future, but, all the resorts were PACKED today.
We decided to continue on up to Reno, The Biggest Little City to hang out. Our first stop was lunch at my FAVORITE place in Reno ~ Michael’s Deli.
I started with some delicious White Bean Soup (3 points+)
Then, shared the usual Thai Chicken Salad with The Husband.
This salad is phenomenal ~ Mixed greens, Napa cabbage, red peppers, cucumbers, chow mein noodles, sliced almonds, sesame seeds, and a spicy soy dressing. (7 points+ for 1/2)
We played in the snow a little, shopped, ate, shopped some more then drove home with everyone else for like 4 hours! We decided half way through to stop for dinner when The Husband saw his favorite place, Texas Roadhouse!
I’ll be the first to admit I can’t resist their rolls, but, I am proud I had ONLY 1. I googled the Texas Roadhouse Nutritional Information, but, had no luck on their site.
I based my estimated below off the “verified” stats on Livestrong.com.
6 Points+ for ONE roll…crazy, but, they are AMAZING!
Steamed without butter veggies (0 points+)
Then, for my entrée, I picked the Grilled Shrimp Skewers with NO BUTTER and NO RICE and a side of green beans.
Well, I am pretty sure they used butter on the shrimp – look how shiny it is. I had one skewer of shrimp and gave The Husband my other. (5 points+ estimate based on WW online).
I didn’t eat the rice because I am pretty sure it was LOADED with oil and points+! I did eat all my Green Beans (1 points+)

What a fun day! We live 90 minutes from the snow and 90 minutes from San Francisco! Love this location!
Favorite road snacks, grapes, apples, laughing cow cheese with whole grain crackers and Puffins cereal.
Roz says
Wow….such beautiful snow pictures!!!! My favorite road snack are Tim Horton’s Timbits (Canadian readers will know that they are basically doughnut holes. The jelly filled ones are SOOO good, and so NOT point friendly!), however, healthier favorites are almonds, bananas, grapes and little granola bars.

Not sure if its just my computer settings but your blog writing starts right at the edge of the left side of my screen and sometimes makes it hard to read. Anyone have any ideas?
LOVE the blog though! I just rejoined WW last night.
