The Husband’s Dinner Idea……YUM!

March 3, 2011 by DanicasDaily 17 Comments

Can you tell he picked the titled?! ONLY 1 more day and the weekend is here ~ YES!!!! Some weeks, I honestly cannot wait to get to the weekend. Not that we have fancy plans or anything, but, I started my countdown to the weekend on Monday so it’s been a LONG wait this week Winking smile

I think how you all deal with your BAD DAYS is awesome ~ It is nice to know that you all can relate and now I have some healthy new things to try the next time instead of diving into the chocolate, cookies and wine.

This morning I couldn’t wait to dig into one of the Baked Banana Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cups that I made from the Green Lite Bites Cookbook.

Each muffin is only 3 points+ and they are pretty tasty.  Dense, moist with just the right sweetness from the bananas and chocolate chips.

Baked Oatmeal

I made up a “fruit salad” on the side.

Weight Watchers Breakfast Ides

My 3 Point+ breakfast kept me full for 5 hours!

Low point plus breakfasts

I finally had the chance to get out for a nice long lunchtime walk today to enjoy the sunshine.  It was so nice outside that I really didn’t want to come back inside to work.  I can say that my main motivator for coming back was the delicious food I had waiting. Smile

won ton soup

1 1/2 servings of Chicken Cilantro Potsticker & Veggie Soup (6 points+)

weight watchers soup recipes

Side of Spicy Asian Peanut Slaw ~ I top Organic Broccoli Slaw and Carrots with 1 Tbsp of Trader Joe’s Low-fat Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette & some crushed red pepper flakes (1 point+).

quick slaw

All week long my co-worker and I have been planning to head over to Over The Top Shop because they BANANA FROYO back!

Frozen Yogurt

I am completely IN LOVE with Banana Froyo topped with caramel, sprinkles and a little “love”.  1 cup Froyo with 2 Tbsp Caramel & 1 Tbsp Sprinkles = 8 points+ and totally worth every single bite of it!

The Husband picked dinner tonight because he has been wanting to have this Bill Bailey’s Carne Asada.

Bill Bailey's Carne Asada

I honestly prefer to marinate and grill my own meats, but, I LOVE the stats of Bill Bailey’s and that it cooks up in 15 minutes….it’s perfect when you need to have quick dinner.

4 ounces = 5 points+

2010-05-29 16.53.57

4 ounces is a nice size serving…..I grill it so there isn’t a pan to wash.

Carne Asada Recipes

Add a dab of WHOLLY GUACAMOLE ~ 2 points+

Fast Guacamole

Plus CRUNCH!  I LOVE Tostito’s Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips ~ 1 oz for 4 points+

Tostitos Chips

My “dressing” was this new Trader Joe’s Serrano Salsa Fresca.

Salsa FrescaTrader Joe's Salsas

Don’t worry, it sounds spicy, but, it’s not at all ~ it’s delicious!

TJ's Salsas

All together my Carne Asada salad with 1 oz of LF Sharp Cheddar, tons of veggies, salsa and chips came up to 13 points+.

Steak Salad

NEW AT FRIENDS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

* New Featured Recipe of the Week ~  Simple, Low Point+ French Toast

Q’S

What is one thing that you eat REGARDLESS that you think is 110% worth the calories, points+, etc?

For me honestly ~ it’s ice cream, frozen yogurt, caramel, good chocolate and CHIPS!  I know, that’s more than one thing, but, I couldn’t pick just one Open-mouthed smile

Just 1 MORE DAY!!!! The BEST part about tomorrow ~ I am having lunch with THIS SUPER COOL WEIGHT WATCHER STAR!!!

Night all!

Banana fro-yo sounds perfect and definitely Lactaid worthy for this dairy-hating belly! 😉

I can totally live w/o ice cream & froyo since you turned me on to the frozen banana “ice cream”! I must occasionally have chocolate & chips!

My new breakfast delight?? OMG – got my goodie box from TJ’s (thanks to my wonderful SIL in the ATL!) An “eggwich” w/ TJ’s roasted red pepper/eggplant/garlic spread on toasted Sara Lee “Delightful” bread w/ an eggbeater’s omelet. SO YUMMY!

That delicious TJ’s spread is *0* P+ for a tablespoon! She hooked me up w/ a lovely assortment of goodies (dressings, spreads, marinades, chocolate, & balsamic vinegar, as well as a high fiber cereal & my favorite lip balm of all time!).

Danica, if you haven’t tried this spread, you need to pick it up next time you go!

Have a great weekend everyone – we’re going to have a soggy Mardi Gras weekend here – lots of rain on these parades…. I may be staying inside & working on developing a Zumba class I’ve been invited to teach! I’m so excited. 🙂

I have always thought you Chicken Cilantro Potsticker Soup sounded so good. I have never been so lucky as to be anywhere near and Trader Joes and have never seen mini potstickers anywhere. I FINALLY found some with similar stats to the TJ ones you buy. The soup was even better than I imagined it would be. As a bonus my kids loved it and told me I HAVE to make it again!

For me, hands down, it’s birthday cake. Buttercream frosting (roses included even better). I never refuse a chance to have a piece. Thankfully, it’s one of those things that usually doesn’t result in leftovers, so portion control is easier. 100% worth the points+!

Hi Danica! I recently started following you because I love your meal ideas and recipes. My honey and I are following WW and we are serious foodies. We need all the ideas and help we can get!

You helped us out at Chipolte last night because we knew what to order by following you, not to mention the free yummies from the link for the B1G1 coupon! Thanks! I’m with you, I spent my points on the great Guac!

For me, I try not to eat too many fat free foods, esp. dairy. I think full fat or reduced fat cheese is TOTALLY worth the points+! And real ice cream – I’d rather have a 1/2 cup of the real deal than more of the fake stuff!

Avocados are so worth the points…and I think WW is giving them such a bad wrap these days! But chocolate is something I will not, and don’t think I could ever give up under any circumstances whatsoever!

your tj finds just keep adding on my list for my next trip there! haha have a great weekend!

    Hi Haley,

I work for Annie’s so it was one of the bowls we have in our kitchen. I wish we sold them because I know a bunch of people who would LOVE them (including me!) LOL.
