What is your favorite bread?

January 25, 2011 by DanicasDaily 33 Comments

Happy Biggest Loser Day everyone!  I think its safe to say that MUSTARD wins in the “condiment wars” on last night’s post.  I LOVE that you all love your toppers, sauces and dips as much as I do and totally have more than one type of mustard.  The Husband always teases me because I have about 5 types of Mustard in the fridge on any given day.

This morning’s breakfast was ON THE GO, but, totally hit the spot since I didn’t know I was craving it until I had it.

IMG_5351

* Grande “Dirty” Latte ~ Fat Free, Decaf Latte with 1 pump Mocha (4 points+)

* Pumpkin Walnut Muffin (From the freezer ~ 5 points+)

* BANANA ~ I have a feeling I may NEVER get tired of bananas now that they are free Open-mouthed smile

When I walked in the break room today to make up my lunch there was this insane COSTCO Size Bag of Kettle Chips….Seriously, who NEEDS to have a bag this big?!

IMG_5356

I am SUPER proud that I looked at it, took its picture to share, then, kept on walking to whip up my delicious Hot & Spicy Sandwich Open-mouthed smile

IMG_5357

I know a few of you have asked me to take pictures of my absolute FAVORITE Bread at Trader Joe’s so you can find it.  I had the IDEA I’d go and buy a NEW loaf, but, didn’t want you all to wait any longer.

Look for the one with the Teal Blue, Orange and Red Label.

IMG_5355

1 point+ per slice, but 3 Points+ for 2 slices.  It is totally worth it to me to have this bread over the “light” breads because the flavor is AMAZING….try it, you will <3 it!

IMG_5353

Today’s lunch was just like yesterday’s except I decided to toast my bread.

Toasted bread = Captain Crunch Mouth = Not a good thing LOL…

I took Liz’s and Leslie’s advice and went with “Triangles” today ~ I LOVED having FOUR sandwiches to eat Open-mouthed smile

IMG_5359

I had a Ham & Cheese Sandwich just like yesterday with TONS of Sweet & Spicy Mustard. (5 points+)

Oh, and I totally think the “Spicy Peanut Broccoli Slaw’ looks better with 2 peppers for the record Winking smile (1 points+)

IMG_5358

Dessert….Is it bad I wanted to leave the container at work so I could have the rest tomorrow and not share? Crispy, sweet, crunchy ~ I cannot wait for cherry season!

IMG_5361

I have been excited all week for tonight ~ it’s GIRLS NIGHT, but, not like you all are thinking.  One of my favorite people in the whole wide world invited me over with a few friends for dinner and The Biggest Loser.

We couldn’t decide on what to have for dinner so we went with FAST and picked CHIPOTLE!

IMG_6107

12 points+ and worth every HEAPING point.  I <3 Chipotle & their Guacamole!

You can calculate the nutritional information at Chipotle Fan for any combination at Chipotle – then calc the points+ – LOVE it!

IMG_6106

* Lettuce (0)

* Chicken (5)

* Pico de Gallo (0)

* Corn Salsa (1)

* A little cheese (less than a serving) (2)

* GUACAMOLE! (4)

Deliciousness!  I totally need to HOST a Make your Own Chipotle Party…..especially since they have all their recipes online.

Q’s

What is your FAVORITE type of bread ~ fresh or homemade?

I LOVE Trader Joe’s Fat Free Multi-Grain, but, if I could pick a homemade goodness, it would TOTALLY be those Cinnamon Morning Buns at Tartene.

Show time!!! GO purple girls ~ I totally think they need to show Curtis Stone again too!!!

Night all!

    Thank you for sharing your Trader Joe’s bread with us…I’m definitely going to pick up a loaf the next time I am there.

    In general, I would say my fave bread would be sourdough. But last night we went to dinner at Sweet Tomatoes and I tried a Banana Crunch Muffin Top and that thing was SO good (4 pts).

    I love sour dough or toasted Italian bread. So good! Then again, anything from Panera is great, too.

    I’m with you on the cherries! I’d want to hide them, too:-). And Chipotle? I’ll take them any meal, any day. I love their salads- so big, filling, and delicious- and not over the top on the calories.

    Wait – Chipotle has their recipes online?!? PLEASE please please share! I could eat Chipotle every single day, and I haven’t had it once since I started Weight Watchers. All I really want is the chicken…if I could just make the chicken at home…oh, you have made me very happy! 🙂

    Your Chipotle salads always look soooo amazing! We have one nearby (I’m on the East coast) but it’s just never the same as your pics.

    I used to get the TJs sprouted bread but one day I couldn’t get there so I bought a loaf of Fiber One 100% Whole Wheat Bread from another grocery store – now I love that but it’s not quite as ‘good for me’ as the TJs stuff so I really should switch back. 🙂

    oh my…your chipotle looks amazing!

    My fav bread, as of recent, is Nickels Light 35 multigrain bread. It tastes like REAL bread and it one point+ per slice and 2 point+ for two slices. I ditched those icky rounds once I found this, and less points too!

    My absolute all time favorite bread is TJ’s corn rye. It’s round so smaller slices on the outside and the label makes it 3 points per slice — but well worth it. I love it with a bowl of split pea soup for Sunday night dinners.

    My favorite bread? The worst kind .. any kind of crusty Italian bread. Then to make matters worse .. dipped in oil with all the yummy spices! Who could resist? Needless to say, I haven’t had that in a very long time. If I could get away with it, I think I could live on that stuff.

    I am a condiment whore too – both with mustards and hot sauce, drives my husband nuts – but he loves me enough that he took me to a mustard museum in Wisconsin – so that’s love!

    I’ll have to look for that bread, I’ve never noticed it before! I’m a bread lover too, I used to bake all of my family’s bread. I have an electric grain mill & would grind my own wheat berries & bake several loaves of bread for the whole month! I also really, really love Panara!

    I just took a condiment count, I have 3 mustards (and that is low for me), 5 hot sauces, 7 vinegars, & 4 different olive oils. I make our salad dressings most of the time.

    I love Trader Joes sprouted grain breads. They come in wheat, multi grain and rye. They are all really good, but rye is my fav. Also only 1pt+ per slice, if my calculations are correct.

    My fav is biscuits. Don’t know how they work with points+. They are only 1 point the old way. Stir 2 cups self rising flour, 1 cup skim milk, and 2 Tablespoons light Mayo together just until blended. (Bama brand is my fav.) Drop on greased sheet or muffin tin. Makes 12. Bake 425 for 15 min. or so. Yum, Yum. You can add some garlic powder and cheese if you want, but don’t forget to adjust the points for the cheese. We eat them with breakfast and dinner.

    I just took 3 loaves of Sour Dough Bread out of the oven!!! For the recipe go to:

    http:// http://www.thatsmyhome.com/bakery/basic/sis-sourdough-starter.htm

    I made loaves of bread instead of rolls.

    After you feed the initial starter and if you don’t make bread, either give away or throw away 1 c of starter. I used 3 thowaway foil loaf pans to bake the bread in.

    Chipotle must be more healthy than QDoba. I looked at the info there and it seems more than what you have at Chipotle. I will try that next time. Does anyone know how many points the 500 and under food at Applebees? I had the steak and shrimp last night and do not know how many points. And is there a list of Trader Joe food that are low in points and high in flavor. Any help would be appreciated

    Hi Lisa,

    I LOVE Chipotle and could probably eat it like EVERY day! I usually order 1 of two things.

    1. 3 Crunchy Corn Chicken Tacos ~ chicken, pico de gallo, corn salsa, sometimes cheese and lettuce

    2. Chicken Salad (sometimes called a burrito bowl but I skip the beans and rice and have lettuce on the bottom) – Then, I add in Chicken, fajita veggies, pico de gallo, corn salsa, sometimes hot sauce, sometimes cheese, GUACAMOLE!

    I LOVE everything there, but, for me I pick the things that are “worth” the points+ to me. Beans are not, rice and cheese sometimes is…..

    Thanks,

    Danica
