A “Grape” Day!

September 20, 2012 by DanicasDaily 11 Comments

Happy Friday Eve all!  There was something about yesterday’s post that made me actually crave salads.  I am not even sure if that is possible some days, but, I know you all have some pretty tasty salad bar topping combinations that I need to try out.

Today was a “rushed” day from the start with my first meetings of the day starting at 730 am.  Some days meetings that early seem wrong lol…..

On my way out the door, I grabbed a banana and a perfectly hard boiled egg to take on my drive. (SF) – 2 points+

One reason I think it is awesome to freeze a serving or two of any foods you make is for days like today.  I grabbed a container of my Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup from the freezer for a quick grab & go lunch today. Spiced up with crushed red pepper flakes (SF) – 5 points+

IMG_2348

Plus a light string cheese (SF) – 1 points+

IMG_2349

And a big bowl of watermelon with grapes. I have decided grapes make watermelon take even better and it’s fun having a few “sweet treats” to eat along the way.

IMG_2354

My late afternoon snack was a 0% Peach Oikos.  It’s a little floral tasting to me ~ so far my favorite Oikos has been the Apricot Mango I had on Monday.

(SF + 1 WPA) – 3 points+

I managed to get out of the office in time to pick up The Husband and head over to the Thursday Night Farmer’s Market before it closed.

We actually went for the peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots ($1 a lb!!)

IMG_2393

But, ended up with 5 lbs of grapes for $0.75/lb – a GRAPE deal!

All 4 varieties grown in Napa Valley!

IMG_2372

Then, we finished our trip at the Veggie Guy….aka the Tomato guy I visit each week.  Only this week, the deal was on peppers.

Each grab bag was $1……I couldn’t resist the colors…..

IMG_2384

or the MINI Peppers!

IMG_2387

$1 a bag Squash….

IMG_2388

And, last, but, not least…my $1 Kabocha Squash ~ like Acorn squash, but, sweeter.

IMG_2395

I honestly was craving Panera today (it’s the salad post, for real!) so we headed over for You Pick 2 after the market.

French Onion Soup (SF + 2 WPA for the croutons/cheese)  ~ I swear one day I am going to order just a bag of these croutons to put in my soup – they are so completely buttery, melt in your mouth good.

IMG_2359

1/2 a Chicken Cobb ~ sans the stinky cheese for low-fat swiss and with the dressing on the side.(SF+1 WPA for the dressing)

IMG_2364

Tonight I also decided I NEEDED that baguette on the side so I went with it. (SF+5 WPA)

Using Panera’s Nutrition Calculator if you are counting, my meal is 13 points+.

IMG_2363

Not too bad of a day for AL ~ 3 Activity Points so far and it’s my day off from exercise Open-mouthed smile

STATS (12 am – 10 pm)

  • 2,389 calories burned
  • 7,058 steps taken
  • 9 WPA used, 0 WPA remaining (24 daily points+)

Off to catch some zzzzz’s so I can get my last run in for the week tomorrow morning.

Night all!

I noticed you counted 1 WP for the yogurt; how did you determine that? I’m still all confused with the yogurts-lol!

I think she considers the yogurt SF but adds a point for the jelly stuff they sometimes put in them. Pretty sure that’s what she explained on a diff post a long time ago, anyway. 🙂 HTH!

Thanks – I was wondering if that were it or not; the WW information with Simply Filling is so very vague with some items.

      Hi Laura,

Staci is correct. I counted the 1 WPA for the jam that comes in the yogurt. The entire container is 3 points+ and if you had just the yogurt plain it equals 2 points+. Since 0% Plain Greek Yogurt is Simply Filling, I count just the portion (the jam) that is not against my WPA.

    Hi !
I have been on such a grape kick lately! They really came in handy when I hosted a firepit party for my friends last night. I had two hard boiled eggs before everyone came and then made you Harvest Grain salad to serve also. Then we had lots of mucnchies. I pretty much stuck to the Harvest salad with grapes for munching. A few tortilla chips with guacamole too. One glass of bubbly and it was a success! Loving SFT!

      Hi Marie,

Fat free string cheese and plain yogurt or yogurt with artificial sweeteners are on the Simply Filling List. I actually “tweak” these two items. Here is a post I did that explains why.

Thanks so much for answering me! Here on Long Island in NY we do not have fat free string cheese. I enjoy all your posts, keep them coming, good luck to you!

Geez you got some great deals on that produce! :O I sadly never buy grapes because they are always so darn pricey. Maybe I need to check out my Farmer’s Market just in case…
