A new way to get “Dirty”

May 7, 2011 by DanicasDaily 13 Comments

Happy Saturday all! Today I discovered a way to make my “Dirty Lattes” even BETTER without changing the points+……I have a feeling a new Starbuck’s addiction might be coming on Open-mouthed smile  Before we headed out for our weekend Lattes, I made sure to eat a powered up breakfast.

I woke up craving a One Egg Wonder Eggwich.

IMG_0909

* 2 slices TJ’s FF  Multi-Grain Bread (3 points+)

* 1 “Fried” Egg (2 points+)

* and my new secret sauce.

IMG_0904

I LOVE that the folks over at I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter are now making their spray with an Olive Oil Blend.

IMG_0905

Funny fact about me ~ Oranges are quite possibly one of my FAVORITE fruits around (love the taste, smell & juice), but, I HATE peeling them because your hands smell like oranges all day.  I ALWAYS cut them if I have nobody to peel them for me.

IMG_0908

A few slices usually end up in my water each time too.

IMG_0917

Not too shabby for 5 points+.

IMG_0918

I think I discovered my FAVORITE new drink at Starbuck’s today!

Grande Nonfat Decaf Latte with 1 pump mocha + 1 pump coconut = OMG GOOD!

The BEST part is ~ it’s STILL 4 points+!!

Check it out:

Grande FF Latte = 130 cal, 0g fat, 19g carb, 13g prot, 0g fiber,

1 Pump Mocha = 25 cal, 0g fat, 6g carb, 1g prot, 0g fiber

1 Pump Coconut = 20 cal, 0 g fat, 5g carb, 0g prot, 0 g fiber, 1

TOTAL DRINK = 175 cal, 0g fat, 30g carb, 14g prot, 1g fiber = 4 Points+

LOVVVVVVVEEEEEEE!!!!

IMG_0920

Even though it’s still early in Farmer’s Market Season, we picked up some pretty awesome fruit.

Nectarines!

IMG_0926

Cherries ~ and they taste good too!

IMG_0927

Blueberries (since the guy wasn’t sampling, I asked him if his blueberries were firm.) Totally normal right? I mean, who likes mushy blueberries.

IMG_0930

My FAVORITE tortillas of all time ~ Chipotle/Flour & Green Chili Corn.

IMG_0931

2 types of hummus ~ Roasted Red Pepper and Black Bean with Chipotle & Harissa!

Cheese Jalapeno Almonds that are sort of like smoke house almonds with a kick.

IMG_0937

After the market and doing some shopping for our landscaping, we came home and had leftovers.

We both agreed the Super Cheesy Butternut Squash Mac n Cheese tastes even better the next day (11 points+)

IMG_0945

1/2 a serving Sweet Potato & Cabbage Slaw (1 points+)

IMG_0946

I spent the afternoon shopping for some new spring/summer clothes since BlogHERFood11 is less than 2 weeks away.

I stopped for a quick snack before I headed out to stock up on the rest of our groceries for the week.

IMG_0940

I had 14 Spicy Jalapeno almonds for 2 points+.

IMG_0941

You all sort of know I had a thing for Tracey’s Trail Mix and now that it’s gone, I HAD to make my own.  It’s pretty simple to make……

Start with Trader Joe’s Organic High Fiber O’s (or your favorite “other” brand).

IMG_0950IMG_0952

I can’t believe cereal gets such a ding ~ 5 points+ a serving, but, I LOVE it when I do have cereal.  It fills me up, it’s slightly sweet and it’s crunchy enough it doesn’t get soggy.

IMG_0951

The rest of the mix.

IMG_0953

Combine everything in a bowl and toss it together ~ simple, right?! I guessed on what portion sizes she used (All of the mango & cereal plus 1 cup of everything else).

It’s crunchy, salty, sweet, chewy, nutty and just plain good!

  • 10 cups Trader Joe’s Organic O’s
  • 1 cup dried berries
  • 1 cup coconut chips
  • 1 cup dry roasted and salted pistachios

  • 1 1/4 cups dried mango, sliced
  • 1/2 cup vanilla chips, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Combine everything in one big bowl and toss.

2.  Store in an air tight container with your 1/2 cup scooper ready to go or pre-portion into 1/2 cup servings so you can grab a quick snack on the go.

The Husband requested steak sandwiches for dinner.  I actually bought everything to make the Weight Watchers Cheesesteak Sandwiches, but, then, decided to do everything on the grill instead.

3 oz Tri Tip steak seasoned with Emeril’s Original Essence & Whiskey Black Pepper Steak Sauce tossed with sautéed mushrooms on hollowed out French Bread (7 points+)

IMG_0967

Plus a little corniness. (2 points+)

Happy Mom’s Day everyone!!!

Man I can’t wait for my local farmer’s market to start up! Plus, grilled corn, I am so jealous!

I made a version of this trail mix & only added a couple of things & still ended up w/ 6pp for 1/2 C or 4pp for 1/3 C. Gotta try it again. I love trail mix but it’s a little too addictive for me!

I like your orange slices in water idea. I love orange but they

I tried the coconut mocha dirty latte yesterday, after you mentioned your hairdresser gets it that way, and I am in love! Coconut is one those items where I don’t like the actual item, but love the flavor (the other is watermelon).

We had the Cheesy Steak Sandwiches for Mother’s Day also. Tried them the first time you gave the recipe and it was HUBBY who wanted to make them for Mother’s Day. We got our baguettes from Panera. We passed on the recipe to my son and his fiance who are into healthy eating also. If there is any leftover meat/veggies, my daughter’s been loading a tortilla with it for a quick dinner/snack.

    HI Robyn,

I think it’s NEW that all Starbuck’s have coconut now. In the past, I have only seen it in Hawaii. Yeah for all stores getting it and I hope it’s NOT seasonal 🙂

    HI Noura,

Trail/Snack mixes can really add up. It depends on what ingredients you use. I used a high fiber/protein/low sugar cereal, pistachios (because you get more than any other nut), fruit that is natural without sugars added, and unsweetened coconut. I hope that gives you a few tips. I agree with you on snack mix being addicting, however, this one, is one of the few I have found I can keep in check.
