Breakfast in Bed for Dinner

September 10, 2009 by DanicasDaily 11 Comments

Happy Friday Eve all!  I am SOOOO tired this week so I am definitely ready for the weekend to begin.  Today was such a busy work day too.  1 more day – yahoo!

Before I jump into today I have to tell you all ~ I AM GOING TO BLOGHER FOOD ‘09!!!  I got my ticket on Friday last week and totally spaced on telling you all – SO EXCITED!!! I’ve never gone to any BlogHer event or really any blogging event so this will all be new for me.  I am giving up 1 day in Lake Tahoe for it, but, I think it’s totally worth it, don’t you?!

BlogHer Food 09

I was up reluctantly up at 5:10 am to do my Upper Body Workout.  I seriously must have had a BUNCH of energy on Monday because this workout seemed super tough today.  I pushed through it all and hit my 10’s (high point) each time – LOVE that!

I did a few minutes of stretching after.  My Upper Body workout took 46 minutes.  Only one more workout and it’s MY REST DAY – YES!

Oh and a NOTE to you home gym users ~ working out BEFORE the sun rises in your gym can be hazardous to your health!

IMG_1648

Yup ~ that would be my old man forehead after I walked into the bench press bar because I FORGOT to put it up so my “tall” self wouldn’t walk right into it *sigh*.  No, it didn’t help knock any sense into me 😀

My stomach was funky this morning so I started out with a Chocolate Banana Almond Crunch Protein Shake@ 6:35 am for Meal #1.

IMG_1443

As soon as I got to work I went from meeting to meeting to meeting ALL morning LONG.  Sometimes that is a good thing and sometimes not……Today, not so much.  I grabbed a quick Chocolate Chip Pure Protein “Candy Bar” for Meal #2 @ 10:05 am because I knew I wouldn’t have a chance to make up a REAL snack.

IMG_1637

I missed having lunch today with The Husband because I got out of my meeting after he gave up trying to “surprise” me with lunch.  I had brought a lunch but there is just something about knowing you can go to lunch but miss out that makes you want to get out.  So, I took some Lottery Scratchers and Rachel to lunch!

IMG_1671

I went to BuckHorn’s Grill and sat outside in the shade to enjoy the sunshine.  I had a view of my other favorite play Gillwood’s Cafe!  It was a tough decision but I knew which salad I was craving

Image via Napaeats.com

Meal #3 @ 12:45 pm a fantastic Yik Yak Salad “An oriental salad with south of the border flair; a crisp mix of greens, cabbages, jicama, red peppers, snow peas, tossed with sweet sesame dressing & topped with toasted almonds”.  LOVE this salad with the spicy Cajun Chicken..

IMG_1643

I didn’t eat the tortilla but I ate everything else ~ MMMMM!  I didn’t want to go back to work 🙂

IMG_1641

When I got back one of my co-workers was asking for chocolate.  I pulled out my FAVORITE Trader Joe’s Mini Dark Chocolate Wedges to share.

IMG_1644

I LOVE mini anything!  These are about 1 inch.

IMG_1645

And surprise, surprise ~ Check the CARBS – woohooo!  Only 6 g for TWO.  I MUST remember this the next time I want chocolate.  I can definitely find some Peanut Butter protein to balance it out!

IMG_1646

I was a busy beaver all afternoon and didn’t think about meal #4 until it was time to head home.  I decided to wait to eat it since we had a fast dinner planned.  On the way home I stopped for 3 THINGS bread, eggs and ketchup at Trader Joe’s.

DO YOU ALL STICK TO JUST YOUR LIST ALWAYS??? I am SO bad about that especially when I see NEW things.

I couldn’t pass up getting these 73% Caco Dark BELGIAN Chocolate Almonds

IMG_1650

Especially when I saw these nutritional stats ~ Seriously, only 130 calories for 9?!  OK let me rephrase that ~ 2 WEIGHT WATCHER POINTS!!!

IMG_1651

These babies are HUGE too!  I have to admit it, I had 2 or maybe 3, can’t remember.   AWESOME – BEYOND GOOD!!

P.S. Janetha, I don’t these count as candy for you do they?! Cuz, if they don’t I am so sharing 😀

IMG_1652

And then, I saw this!!! A completely NEW PB& J BAR from Trader Joe’s!

IMG_1654

It was the description that sold me.  MY FREE DAY TREAT!!!  2 types of chocolate + peanut butter + raspberry jam + POTATO CHIPS!!!!  I cannot wait to dig in – I’ll probably share too 🙂  Oh and the nutritionals….ya, you don’t wanna see them.

IMG_1656

I decided to give my usual Ezekiel Bread a rest and try something new for bread.  I saw this Trader Joe’s Multi-Grain Bread and LOVED the ingredient listing.  Look at ALL THE GOOD STUFF in there….MMMM!

IMG_1658

The stats are not bad.  I’d rather have good quality bread for a little bit more in calories than to have low-cal flavorless bread (personal preference).

IMG_1657

The Husband requested “Breakfast In Bed For Dinner” and I was more than up for that!  I did want my leftover Super E-Z Tortilla Soup but I was willing to trade that to try out my new bread.

IMG_1665

I started out “frying” up 2 eggs in nonstick spray with a little sea salt and freshly ground pepper.

IMG_1661

Then, because eggs and hot sauce go together, I splashed Tapatio all over them. IMG_1666

Chopped them up and made little mini egg sandwiches with them.  Yup, I didn’t scoop a bite of eggs and take a bite of bread like my dad always told me to.  I scooped it up with my bread and gobbled it down ~ Delish!

IMG_1669

I was seriously in bread heaven ~ You can taste the sweet molasses with hints of nuttiness and wheat.  So amazing and I had my toast dry.  It reminds me a bit of a pumpernickel – SO TASTY! IMG_1662

We sat in bed with the a/c on (it’s over 100 today) relaxing, watching Cash Cab and seeing who could answer the most questions.  Such a fast, easy and fun dinner!

I was saving meal #6 for some Pumpkin Nut Bread and Greek Yogurt but I am still content. Not sure I’ll stay awake long enough to enjoy ~ sad!

STAT RECAP!

Calories Consumed: 1,309

Calories Burned: 2,518

Steps Taken: 6,717

Ratios: 30% Protein, 32% Carbs, 38% Fat (I need to focus on reducing my fat to 20%)

I am going to catch up on some stats I owe you all, read and try to get UN-TIRED by going to bed sorta early!

Nite all!

So your bread… um, enriched flour doesn’t equal whole grain… have you ever heard of Ezekiel Bread? That is whole grain and extremely healthy (not added filler ingredients or sugar) and has less calories and carbohydrates than the Trader Joe’s bread you use above! Just a suggestion for you!

      Hi Gigi,

Thanks for the suggestion ~ I actually bought this bread as a change from my Ezekiel bread which I mentioned in my post. It is true about enriched flour – it isn’t whole, however, the ingredient list does inlclude whole flours along with some other comnbinations of healthy flours/ingredients that I wanted to try. Carb-wise, they have the same specs that is why it didn’t matter as much to me. I needed a change, but, I do love my Ezekiel products (including their cereals).

      Thanks,

      Danica

Just a head’s up on those TJ’s 73% Belgian Chocolate Covered Almonds – I got those a while back and was digging in because they are AWESOME, but noticed on the nutritional label that the fat info didn’t add up. It claims 4.5 gr. fat, but 8 gr. of saturated fat – not possible, right? So, I emailed TJ’s and they took an ice age to get back to me, but finally said it was a “printing error” and the fat numbers should be flipped – 8 gr. fat and 4.5 gr. sat fat. Still only 3 WW Points, but I can’t believe that after all this time, they STILL have not changed the label ( I must have emailed them in Feb/ Mar.)!!

Marisa ~ I just noticed that last night when I went to enter the information in my Body Bugg tracker. Good to know it is just switched because I was wondering how that should work. Still – Awesome! I remember you having to get the almonds out of the house 🙂
