Happy Friday Eve all!! Onto Cruise Stop #2 ~ the beautiful British Virgin Islands.
After our fun adventures in Samana, we were definitely ready to see some beautiful beaches and soak up the sun. Our second stop was at the island of Tortola where they filmed The Pirates of the Caribbean! I have always wanted to see the British Virgin Islands because I have heard they are amazing. Tortola did not disappoint!
I was definitely excited to see it was a REAL city when we docked. I LOVE all the colors of the buildings.
We hopped on a Catamaran to check out the Virgin Gorda Baths. The baths are a series of rock formations that form caves you climb. They are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and the water is CRYSTAL BLUE.
The only way to get to the baths is to snorkel (not swim or it will seem like forever). We hopped into the 82 degree water with our water camera and had some fun snapping pictures.
Freaky picture of me LOL…They make everyone by law wear these super cool lifevests that you strap all around your body.
The coral and rocks were cool but surprisingly there were hardly any fish.
Once we got to shore, we walked over to climb through the caves. Our underwater camera didn’t really work for taking great pictures of the caves since there isn’t a flash. So be sure to check out the cave pictures HERE.
This was probably the first time I was glad to be short ~ The Husband totally had to crawl through the caves 😀
After climbing through rocks, water and some crazy ladders, you reach Devil’s Bay.
We lounged on the beach for awhile before we snorkeled back to the boat to do some shopping. One thing that is really fun about being in the Caribbean is all the crazy lizards, animals and such that you see around town, just hanging out. I had to be brave and scare the lizards away because The Husband screams like a girl when he sees them 😀
i tried to convince The Husband to go on another “horse” ride but he so was not having it. He said he has no desire to get on a horse or donkey for a really LONG time. His “boy parts” are allergic to riding horses from now on – LOL.
Along with some cool Caribbean artwork, we stopped at this spice place. I bought some fantastic sauces and spices that I cannot wait to use (including cinnamon you grind in like a pepper shaker) – SO COOL.
We ended up running into other cruises at every port we went to – some were bigger and some were smaller. We were in the big shots on the big boat on the right!
We really LOVED Tortola and could totally see visiting it again to see more of the island. A day isn’t enough to see it all even though we did have fun.
Coming up tomorrow is stop #3 ~ St. John’s-Antigua!
We are on our way home from the BlogHER Holiday party!! It was fun – recap coming this weekend if not sooner.
