Crunchy or Soft?

July 8, 2011 by DanicasDaily 12 Comments

Happy Friday all!  I think it’s AWESOME that there are more Green Pea LOVERS than haters….but, there is ONE THING we ALL agree on ~ canned peas = nasty.  I think they sorta taste like soap in a can and the peas are just BIG bubbles.

Although I LOVE the train and working in Berkeley, I MISS AM Starbuck’s runs.

I was SUPER excited that I had to drive into work this morning for an early meeting just because I could get this!

Venti Iced Non-Fat Decaf Latte with a Caramel Drizzle on top (3 points+)  + a banana…..

Meeting Snacks ~ I filled my plate with fruit (watermelon, pineapple, cantaloupe and grapes) then grabbed a piece of Cinnamon Swirl Bread (3 points+) and coffee.

My morning flew by with our meeting and because I knew I was taking off early to meet Tracey of TJ’s Test Kitchen at one of my FAVORITE Mexican Food Places in the world.

I have MISSED TR2 Mexican Food probably the MOST since our office move.

~ 12 Chips and 1/2 of the salsa (4 points+)

IMG_4177

We actually debated before ordering…..2 tacos are 10 points+ whether soft or crunchy.

I have ALWAYS ordered the SOFT Corn Spicy Shredded Chicken Tacos Mexican Style (because it comes with guacamole!)

IMG_4180

Tracey ALWAYS orders the CRUNCHY Spicy Shredded Chicken Tacos ~ regular.

IMG_4182

THE VERDICT ~ SOFT CORN tacos win me over every time! Red heart

After lunch, we got to work on prepping everything for Fit Bloggin’ Local tomorrow.

1st up ~ My VEGAN Pasta Salad

2nd up ~ Red, White & Blue Cookies….We made TWO batches of these 2 points+ cookies.

*WHITE ~ White Chocolate Chips

*DARK ~ Dark Chocolate Chips

LOVE!! These cookies are so freakin’ good ~ I LOVE the combination of the sweet blueberries, tart cranberries and sweet white chocolate….oh and having a buttery oatmeal cookies doesn’t hurt either.

Go get the RECIPE now, make them, freeze them, give them away!

Finally ~ Tracey cut up a ton of fruit for a fruit platter while I whipped up a Fruit Dip that involved cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, lemon juice and vanilla.

You know I totally had to “TEST” it out since I was in her test kitchen and all.

I am pretty sure you could put marshmallow fluff on ANYTHING and I’d eat it. (1 points+)

When I got home The Husband declared he didn’t “need” any more soft foods and he wanted to go out to a place he knows I LOVE…Panda Express!

I actually didn’t think I was THAT hungry until I stepped up to the counter and saw everything.

I have to say though for me this was totally worth busting into my WPA on day 1 for!

String Bean Chicken & Mushroom Chicken

IMG_2772

1/2 order of Chow Mein ~ I was going to resist but they made a fresh batch and brought it out right as I was standing there.

IMG_2771

1/2 order of Steamed Veggies (I think she did more of a 2/3 and 1/3 lol).

IMG_2770

Punched into their Nutrition Calculator my meal comes up to 17 points+.

Q’s

Are you a CRUNCHY OR SOFT OR SHELL-LESS Taco person?

For me it depends ~ I LOVE crunchy when it’s homemade tortillas like at Vasquez Deli.  However, I also LOVE soft when “need” 2 tasty corn tortillas to hold in all that juicy chicken like we had today at TR2.

I am the SPEAKER AT FIT BLOGGIN’ LOCAL tomorrow ~ Gahhhh! Wish me luck!

Off to work on my presentation.

Night all!

Totally a soft taco person here! I like the taste of crunchy but they are harder to eat!

SOFT….all the way. It is nice to know I can have two soft tacos for 10 points plus. I always wonder when going to a Mexican restaurant what I can eat. Thanks!

Since I’m a big texture freak, I’m a crunchy taco person all the way! I wouldn’t even try a bite of a soft.

Glad your husband’s well enough to eat solid food!

Good luck today on your presentation!

It depends! At home I bake them in the oven for the crunch but out, usually soft.

I’m so happy you tried the cookies! Regarding tacos, I would go for soft because my real love is burritos and they are soft.

    HI Gail,

I have several ideas for healthy Chinese food. I absolutely LOVE every single one I’ve tried on the Weight Watchers Website (Generals Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, Black Bean/Pineapple Chicken). I LOVE using the Yakisoba Noodles in the produce section for chow mein or Mongolian type stir fry too.

Here are some of my favorites that I’ve made or had shared on my site

I am sure I have more because Chinese food is one of my favorite things. Hopefully this gives you a good start.
