Happy Weekend all! Today was such a fun day that involved my Weight Watchers meeting, a delicious Thai lunch date with The Husband, catching up on my magazine reading and now we are getting ready to relax and watch a movie.
I am so excited to tell you all I lost another 2.8 lbs this week! It definitely gives me the motivation to stay on track this next week – my birthday week which will no doubt involve balancing my treats and eats.
I love Thai food and couldn’t wait to try out The Lime Leaf. I already have a favorite place so nothing compares but this place was still pretty tasty. As with all Asian food, I always ask for a small serving plate so I can control how much goes on my plate (otherwise, I can easily eat it all!)
My go-to choices almost always involve papaya salad as it’s free (0 SP) if you order it without meat and fresh spring rolls. I tend to eat most of a stir fry (sweet basil or chicken prik) and have just a little of the noodle, rice or coconut curry dishes as these dishes have the highest points. It’s fun this way to me as I get to try a bit of several things leaving my taste buds totally satisfied.
Daily Snap Recap:
B: 2 eggs over medium (4 SP), 1 PC sourdough, dry – you do not miss the butter with your dipping it in eggy goodness (2 SP), plus 2 pieces bacon (3 SP)
S: Tall Nonfat Cappuccino with caramel on top (2 SP)
L: Thai Food! 1 c papaya salad (0 SP), 1 fresh shrimp spring roll (2 SP), 1 c sweet basil chicken (4 SP), 1/2 c steamed rice (3 SP), 1/2 c pork see ew noodles (4 SP)
No snack at lunch kept me full for 5 hours
D: 1/2 cup spaghetti (3 SP), 1/2 c Italian sausage Bolognese with a sprinkle of fresh parmesan (4 SP)
31 points and finishing my week with 29 weekly points not used
What are your go-to dishes when you eat Thai Food?
Night all!

I go to a Thai restaurant in Auburn right next to the Whistlestop Quilt Shop. I love the green coconut curry with chicken. It’s served with rice, small shredded cabbage lettuce and carrot salad with just a drizzle of dressing. They also give you a small cup of hot-n-sour soup. Since you said the coconut curry is high in points now I’m wondering just how many I’m eating. I usually only eat half of it. Serving size is about 1 1/2 cups.
Love that you are back. I also tried the cappuccino with the drizzle, yum.

Hi Karen,
I think it really depends on if they use coconut milk or coconut cream. This is like saying milk versus half and half. If they use coconut milk which I believe they do for most curries, it’s 9 SmartPoints per cup. If they use coconut cream it’s quite a bit more. You could always ask what they use but might be able to tell by thickness and taste?
This is a pretty good article on WW about going out to Thai

Now I want to go to Auburn 🙂

Danica, I notice you always specifically describe your cappuccino with caramel “on top”. IS that something real specific, like, you have to ask the barista not to add a pump of caramel in the coffee, just on top? And why – I’m guessing you taste it more through the foam on top and therefore get more bang for your buck, point-wise? Just curious, I’m not coffee-shop-literate but would love for you to illuminate!!

Hi Anne,
Yes, you had to ask for it as there isn’t a drink name for it. I like it because it makes the foam like a marshmallow adding just a little sweetness but not being overpowering. it’s definitely less points than having caramel all around your cup and on top.

My usual Thai go to is red chicken curry with brown rice, although I haven’t had it since my return to WW in November 🙂 So glad you’re back!!
