Do you think food taste better when someone else makes it for you?

February 9, 2011 by DanicasDaily 17 Comments

Happy Hump Day all!!  I can’t help it ~ I am completely addicted to Dirty Lattes!  I told myself I needed to go back to making them at home after my gift cards ran out, but, there is just something about having someone else make your drink that makes it taste a million times better, dontcha think? Winking smile

Venti Iced Nonfat Decaf Latte with 1 pump Mocha ~ Dirty Latte ~ 4 points+

image

I do STILL have my container of Trader Joe’s Cheddar Jalapeno Pub Cheese….I hid it from The Husband Winking smile  When I saw it this morning, I instantly knew a Cheesy Sausage Breakfast Sandwich was in order.

IMG_6028

My cheesy sausage breakfast sandwich came up 6 points+!

* Double Fiber Orowheat English Muffin

* 1 Tbsp Trader Joe’s Jalapeno Cheddar Pub Cheese….it literally MELTED on the muffin

* Morning Star Hot & Spicy Veggie Sausage

IMG_6030

Side of Melon! I know I am going to LOVE Points+ in the summer with all the amazing fruit that is FREE…..

IMG_6033

Deliciousness!  This combo kept me full for 6 hours ~ crazy, cool!

IMG_6036

My work day was INSANELY busy, but, I told myself I am sticking to my commitment to get out and enjoy the sunshine with a nice 45 minute walk.  It did help that my co-workers had me pick up Mammarella’s on my way back Open-mouthed smile

IMG_6052

I am completely IN LOVE with their Citrus Beet Salad and get it just about any chance I can get.  I actually even re-created a Caribbean version of it one time, but, like I said, it’s ALWAYS better when someone else makes it for you Open-mouthed smile

IMG_6045

* Organic Arugula topped with….

* Organic Roasted Beets

* Orange and Grape Fruit Sections

* PISTACHIOS (1/4 cup estimate = 5 points+)

* Ricotta Salatta ~ CHEESE! (2 points+)

* Citrus Vinaigrette (I didn’t use it because this salad has enough flavor on it’s own)

I usually order grilled chicken on top, but, I passed today because I KNEW I’d be having a little bit of this GIA!!!  Honestly one of the BEST creations ever!

IMG_6053

* Pizza Dough

* BANANA

* NUTELLA!

* Powdered Sugar & Cocoa Powder

I had 1/3 of it for 8 points+ (estimated by breaking down the components).  One day, I am totally going to order this as my meal meal Open-mouthed smile

IMG_6054

Mid afternoon meeting snacks!  I resisted the cookies and pastries because honestly the fruit looked better!

IMG_6049

Since I was hosting the Friends for Weight Loss Facebook Party tonight, The Husband was in charge of dinner (he likes to take credit when it’s leftovers Winking smile)

IMG_6057

2 Crunchy Taco Shells for 3 Points+

IMG_6059

Not a fan of ingredients that get abbreviated TBHQ ~ it just sounds like a chemical!

IMG_6058

But, The Husband picked these out because they stand up on their own and he thought they would take good pictures.

IMG_6055

I decided to venture out and try this Papaya Mango Salsa that I picked up awhile back when someone mentioned they LOVED it.

IMG_6060

FREE is ALWAYS good in my book, but, I think it’s just OK.  It is super thick and has a funky taste to it ~ not too sweet, but, salty and a little oniony and spicy.

IMG_6063

2 Crispy, Crunchy Chipotle Chicken Tacos!

IMG_6076

* 3 ounces chopped grilled chipotle chicken

* 1/2 cup Chipotle’s Corn Salsa

* 1/4 cup TJ’s Papaya Mango Salsa

* 1 ounce Reduced fat Sharp Cheddar

2 Taco’s for 10 points+ ~ you know they totally tasted better because he MADE them for me lol Smile

Q’s

Do you think food tastes better when some place or some one makes it for you?  Have you ever tried to re-create it and have it turn out the same or better?

I almost ALWAYS think certain things just taste better when you go out to eat them….I have totally tried re-creating some of my favorite things by buying the EXACT ingredients.  Although my versions often are tasty, they just are not quite the same as when someone else makes it for you. I think the SECRET ingredient is not making it yourself Winking smile

Night all!

    Food almost always taste better when someone else cooks it. I think its the element of the unknown that makes it so good.

    Always tastes better when someone else makes it! Like your dirty latte – I finally broke down and spent the $$ to try one and I loved it!! I make something similar at home to save bucks, but it’s missing the one main ingredient (someone else’s touch). Ha Ha!!

    Yes! For the longest time, I hated making salads at home because they never tasted quite as good as when I ordered them out! I think it was the whole salad chopping thing that throws me off 😉

    Great FB party last night, D! Way more fun and much less confusing than Twitter parties!

    I agree! There’s something about not knowing the “secrets” of what goes into the prep of a meal that makes it taste better.

    Heck no! I like it when I cook it! A lot of times I am eating a meal prepared for me, and I sit there and think about the things I would have done differently.
    Now, if you want to do the dishes for me….you are more than welcome 😉

    That is so funny about “food tastes better when someone else makes it for you”! My husband claims this is true, but I’m not so sure… 🙂 If we have sandwiches for lunch, I must make his because, according to him, I make it with love and it tastes soooo much better. I think he might just be a tad lazy 🙂 If we go to chipotle or subway, he has me order his food for him because, according to him, they will make a better sandwich/burrito/tacos if it is ordered by a cute girl, rather than a manly man. Again, I can’t decide if he is lazy, or if there is some truth to his theory 🙂

    I completely agree… even something as simple as a ham and cheese sandwich always tasted better when my mom made it for me!

    I definitely agree about the food thing. I also think it tastes better because there are no dishes to do afterward! Ha. Although I am a little paranoid about food handling and stuff, I still love to go out! Thanks for the chance to be a success story 🙂 You rock Danica!!

    “…but, there is just something about having someone else make your drink that makes it taste a million times better, dontcha think?” – Oh heck YES! 😉

    Since I was out of comission in the kitchen (and still am BOO) for Super Bowl weekend, I went to TJ’s and brought a whole bunch of premade goodies. The jalapeno pub spread was a HUGE it. Everyone kept saying how much they loved it and how they didn’t think it would taste that good. 😀

    Nutella + naners + pizza dough = how I want to spend the rest of my life… you know, swimming in a bathtub full of them ;P

    My favorite made at home like it is out recipe is my pollo bowl (which is also my #1 viewed recipe)… It’s not really anything like the bowl at El Pollo Loco, but it’s totally my version. And I think it blows theirs out of the water ! 😀 Putting the link below incase anyone wants to check it out…

    Happy almost Friday to you friend! 🙂 -Mary

    i agree that things taste better when someone else cooks it for you! even if it’s just grilled cheese, if my fiance makes it for me, it tastes amazing! maybe that’s bc he uses way more butter/cheese than i do! 🙂 i’ll pretend that’s not true though…

    I actually ADORE the food I cook and think I cook best because I know exactly what I want… ha ha! Although going out to eat is generally good but that’s because they’re trained chefs and I never chop garlic and what not! ha ha.

    Yes, I definitely think food tastes better when someone else makes it. The only exception? COFFEE! I am always disappointed when I order coffee while I’m out. It never tastes as good as my freshly ground coffee beans from Starbucks, made in my French press, and topped off with some hazelnut creamer. Love it!
