Do you think in pointsplus?

December 29, 2011 by DanicasDaily 16 Comments

Happy Friday Eve all!!!  It sounds like the consensus from yesterday’s post is that you all want to see more Simply Filling meals and menu ideas.  Now, that is something I can definitely do.  I actually did CORE (aka Simply Filling) for over a year when Weight Watchers first introduced the idea several years back and lost 30 lbs with it.

In the same way my brain is wired to look at everything with “floating” points+ values over it, I still have a tendency to ask is it a “Power Food”.  It is sort of like riding a bike, once you learn it and get into nour groove, you can never really forget it or look at foods the same.

I am totally that little kid whose brain does NOT stop all day long….you all already know how I think IN BLOG all day long and now this……lol….

Do you all think in points+ values too or is it just my bean counting geekiness that makes me do it?

I will work on some ideas and weekly meals plans starting in January….Let me know if you all want to join me in the challenge!

This morning I was up at 5 AM working out with Kathy Smith: Strong on demand.  After 30 minutes of Total Body Training and wondering why she was so happy at 5 AM, I grabbed a banana and got ready for work.

Breakfast looked exactly like yesterday….don’t worry, the ham is now gone~ sad, but true (5 points+)

For some reason today was an “I am STARVING” all day long day.  After eyeing the candy and donuts in the office (plus TWO cups of coffee), I decided I NEEDED to eat my afternoon snack early.

I busted out my new fork, spoon, knife thing that The Husband bought me for Christmas.

IMG_2439

Maybe I was SO HUNGRY because I knew I had my crunchy Blackberry Pomegranate Chobani Cookie mix sitting in my bag (5 points+).

IMG_2442

While making up my lunch today, I remembered another way I use my Chobani Greek Yogurt ~ I LOVE using it for Mayo in Mayo-Less Tuna Salad and Egg Salad.

IMG_2448

Whenever you buy a new carton of eggs, turn all your “extras” into hard boiled eggs to have as a snack or to make this super easy sandwich.

  • 1 egg + 1 egg white (2 points+)
  • 1 Tbsp 0% Greek Yogurt (0 points+)
  • 1 tsp LF Mayo + 1 tsp Mustard (0 points+)
  • Sea salt & black pepper to taste ~ other fun toppings, dill or crushed red pepper flakes

I topped 2 slices of Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain Bread with the ENTIRE mix for 5 points+.

IMG_2454

Served up with my FAVORITE “healthier” chip ~ BBQ Pop Chips!

IMG_2452

You can now buy the individual little bags at Costco.  The BEST PART…..the ENTIRE bag is only 2 points+…..

IMG_2451

Look how many you get too ~ DEAL!

IMG_2456

Dinner tonight was all about what I have been craving for weeks now.

Simple Salads

Mixed greens, carrots, red cabbage, 1 Tbsp Mozzarella and 1 Tbsp pomegranate seeds topped with 1 Tbsp Newman’s Lite Lime Vinaigrette (1 points+)

IMG_2459

Remember this ~ BUBBLE UP PIZZA CASSEROLE! (print it!!!)

IMG_2476

I am so completely IN LOVE with these little dough balls baked with tons of spicy, cheesy, pizza goodness…..Honestly, why have pizza when you can make this?!

(10 points+) for 1/8th of the pan!

Last chance to enter this really “BIG” Chobani Giveaway!

Just one more day………I am totally sleeping in and getting a dirty latte tomorrow to celebrate getting up at 5 AM to workout everyday this week!

Night all!

Yes, I think in PointsPlus! And more recently, Simply Filling. I tried it the week before Xmas and it was… miraculous! I’m going to do SFT a lot more often now.
And I must know… what is this bubble up pizza dough ball thingie? It looks AMAZING!!!!

      HI Susan,

Yeah, I am NOT alone 😀 I LOVE Simply Filling and I think it’s awesome you tried it/liked it too. It really is easy once you get the hang of it and I LOVE that people can try it for a day without having to commit to the week. If you click next to Bubble Up Pizza Casserole, it will take you to the recipe. It’s awesome!

Yep, I think in PointsPlus, too! I haven’t tried the new Simply Filling technique, but I did try Core in the past during a previous attempt at Weight Watchers. I thought it was a really good plan, I just had a difficult time controlling my portions. I could definitely see giving it a try when I reach Lifetime and switch into maintenance mode though!

I live in points plus land! Our leader briefly touched on the simply filling a/k/a core – sounded a little easier than core to me. I actually need to stay after meeting and get the 411. Was just at Costco Tuesday dang it! will have to run back because i love pop chips and would love to get them in the individual bags! The first Trader Joe’s will be opening in the spring in Texas and fortunately for me it is close to me. Cannot wait to buy all the stuff from your Trader’s Joe list!

That pizza bubble is soooo good! I’ve given up wheat and dairy for as long as I can stand it but maybe I can figure out a tomato/pepperoni dish that’ll fill the void.

Speaking of which, Simply Filling is hard for me bc I’m hardly ever full. That’s why fruits and veggies and healthy fats are my friends! Otherwise, I’m a bottomless pit.

You worked hard this week. You deserve your treat tomorrow morning.

I don’t know enough about Simply Filling so I will definitely look forward to reading more about that and seeing different recipes.

My hubby thinks in points because he did WW way back when. So he can tell me the points for an item we are guesstimating which I can then semi-guess the points+ in a pinch.

I would have to do points as well because I, like a child need a structured environment. 🙁

I feel more comfortable with the regular points plus instead of the SFT and I’ve been at goal for 9 weeks and don’t want to change what’s working for me. However, I know a lot of people who’ve done it and I think you have to do what works for you.

As far as thinking in points plus: OMG, I just told my WW class last night that my husband and I do this constantly. We even joke about commercials – for example: how many points do you think those dog treats are? Once he asked me why we ran out of bath soap so quickly and I responded that it was low in points – he almost wet his pants laughing!

LOL @ “why she was so happy at 5 am”!!! I did her workout this morning (only at 9 am) and thought the same thing! HA!

Happy New Year, Danica! It’s gonna be a great one!

I totally think in PointsPlus, AND in Power Foods. I am such a PP/PF geek, I get excited to count how many PFs I managed to get in at the end of each day – as if I’m in a friendly competition. With myself. 🙂

I love the idea of subbing Chobani for mayo. I haven’t bought mayo since I started Weight Watchers! Instead, I have been using Wishbone’s Greek vinaigrette in my tuna salad, and think the Bruschetta might be amazing in egg salad. 🙂

    Happy New Year!! 🙂

I haven’t been to a meeting since December 10th and I’m legit scared about tomorrow!!! I KNOW I need to go, but I’m afraid I’ve gained back every single pound I lost. UGH! That being said, I think I’m going to give Simply Filling a chance, but I need to make sure I’m doing it “right” first!!!
