Happy Sunday all! Today we were up early to head to the Alameda Antique Fair. We go for The Husband to find “things” but it’s a great way to get in steps. We picked up Starbucks on the way and I had 1/2 a breakfast burrito at the fair. On the way back we stopped at Jack’s Urban Eats for lunch. I was really torn between soup & salad so I decided on both. I totally blame the cold I now have as the reason soup sounds good on a summer day. I couldn’t finish my salad. The Husband was in charge of dinner tonight, all I had to do was marinate everything last night.
Have you ever made your own Teriyaki sauce before? It’s super easy. I got this recipe from one of my friends in college and it has forever been my go-to. Just remember 1/3, 1/3, 1/3.
Whisk together 3 things:
- 1/3 cup water
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup sugar
- If you want to get fancy, add 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 Tbsp grated ginger, a splash of Mirin (Sweet Japanese Wine) & a dash of crushed red pepper flakes.
Thats it. I use this on all types of meat and in veggie stir fries often. I whipped up a batch last night to marinate the tritip for our Teriyaki Beef Bowls tonight.

24 Daily Smartpoints, 13K steps – I may not hit my target of 30 Smartpoints today but I’m ok with that as I am not going to eat my points just because they are there as I’m not hungry.
I love long weekends & having 2 more days off.
Night all!
