Food Coma….

May 15, 2010 by DanicasDaily 14 Comments

I LOVE early morning Saturday workouts, they honestly just start your day off right and set the tone for the day.  We had a pretty awesome Saturday planned out going to the Napa Valley Home & Garden Show and Farmer’s Market, but, my Calorie Blasting Hills Walk was definitely a highlight.

I whipped up a 6 point Egg Sandwich on Trader Joe’s Fat Free Multi-Grain Bread with a “fried” in nonstick spray egg and whipped butter.

FUN FACT ~ Did you all know that whipped butter is 1 Weight Watcher Point less than the non whipped version (2 pts versus 3 ~ bonus plan!)

IMG_6782

On our way out to the Farmer’s Market, we got our usual Road Trip Starbuck’s drinks 😀 ~ his & hers (in my oh so dirty car).

IMG_4060

The Saturday Farmer’s Market was awesome ~ everything looked soooo fresh and good.  I picked up some “glowing” Baby Bok Choy, Swiss Chard & Zucchini.

IMG_4061

Two types of cherries (they don’t last long around here!)

IMG_4065

NECTARINES!!!! Apricots and Apriums (cross between a plum & apricot).

IMG_4064

Then, we were off to the Home & Garden Show.  I LOVE The Husband ~ he knew to make the first stop at the GOURMET TENT where they have all the kitchen stuff!

GUESS WHO WAS THERE??? My FAVORITE Cookie Baker ~ Annie!!!!  I figured I wouldn’t get to see her until the Tuesday Farmer’s Market….Yeah, Hi Annie!!

IMG_4068

Ohhhh and she has new cookie flavors ~ RAINBOW SUGAR COOKIES!!

IMG_4069

Yup, I pretty much sampled them and bought one to have on the spot :D  Cookies for a 10 am snack always are good fuel 😀

IMG_4077

We also visited the other vendor’s that Annie shares her kitchen with.  We both sampled and LOVED the Napa Valley Culinary Artist treats.

IMG_4119

This pack is mainly for The Husband but I did try the lemon bar ~ might be the BEST LEMON BAR I’ve ever had ~ that would be a marshmallow topping on top of lemon curd with a Madagascar Vanilla Bean Short Bread Crust.

IMG_4121

I probably got a little too excited when I saw the Watkins Cinnamon that Janetha ALWAYS uses and swears its the best cinnamon around.  I picked up their black pepper too because it smells just like freshly ground black pepper.  I LOVED their Blazin’ Cajun and Salsa Spices too ~ you can use them as rubs, seasoning, in dips, etc.

IMG_4116

I also had a delicious mini soup sample from Plentiful Pantry.

IMG_4115

I have to admit, the fact that she had WW Points out there totally made me want to buy it….the ingredients are just ok, but, the stats are awesome.  I LOVE that you just add water and can load it up with veggies.

IMG_4070

At this point, The Husband made me leave the kitchen tent for fear I’d buy everything :D  I can’t wait to try all my fun new products.

After all the treats, we stopped at this funny Euro Body Shaper station.  They say that 10 minutes of having your bootie shake like crazy is the same as running.  I am not sure how true that is but it was definitely easier 🙂

IMG_4072

The Husband couldn’t resist the 1/2 pound polish sausage (have I ever told you of his hot dog/sausage fetish – he gets them everywhere we go! lol).  I thought I’d be brave and bit right into the grilled jalepeno he got with it ~ HOLY HOTNESS….don’t try this at home 😮

IMG_4075

We are on a quest to find a cute stone bench for our front porch so I snapped pictures of the different ones we saw for comparison.

IMG_4073IMG_4081IMG_4078IMG_4080IMG_4083IMG_4088

Lunch was at Wing Stop, a place The Husband has been wanting to try since my nephew keeps raving about their wings.

IMG_4093

You can get boneless or bone in wings with mix and match sauces – fun!

IMG_4095

We stuck with mild and Original HOT!

IMG_4102

I had 4 bites that were crispy, coated and spicy.  The Mild needed more HEAT for me.

IMG_4108

REAL chicken breast!

IMG_4106

I picked a side of carrots/celery.

IMG_4101

And ate half of these bourbon beans that were just ok ~ the bourbon was super strong.

IMG_4103

Do you ever just want something because it was part of the original plan, but, you know you don’t need it?  Ummmm…..That was some FF Vanilla & Mango Froyo that put me OverTheTop!

IMG_4109

TOTAL FOOD COMA, but, TOTALLY worth it too :D  So glad I saved all my WPA because I am pretty sure I used them today.

We both were not sure hungry so my Fava Bean Pasta Toss is going to have to wait.

I whipped up a couple of BLTA’s with an arugula salad for dinner.

IMG_4128

I only had a 1/2 a sandwich because I wasn’t really hungry but I knew I’d be later.  I used Milton Multi-Grain…I LOVE the sweet nuttiness of all the seeds.

IMG_4127

Fast Arugula Salad ~ Arugula tossed in Newman’s Own Light Lime Vinaigrette ~ I find that citrus flavors really cut the bitterness and bite of arugula.

IMG_4125IMG_4129

I have another MEYER LEMON RECIPE in the works…..any guesses??  It’s NOT what you think 😉

IMG_4132

I actually gave it away what they are on Twitter and Facebook 😀

Looks like SUCH a fun and delicious day! Good for you for saving your WPA and then spending them on tasty, one-of-a-kind treats. The benches all look lovely–good luck picking one out!

I vote for the white bench with leaf like pattern – then the husband can really get artistic and paint the leaves and bench to match the house. (Make sure he uses paint for concrete – can get it at Michaels or Walmart.

Around here we call the apricot/plum hybrid “Pluots”. Strange…

    Hi Graze with me,

We have pluots too, but, this is a different variety – it’s more apricot like where pluots have more plum if that makes any sense LOL.
