Hi Danica’s Daily readers! I’m Marisa of Loser for Life. I’m so honored to be guest posting for Danica while she is vacationing!
Since we are all always trying to get more veggies in our diet, I thought I’d share one of my favorite side dishes – Gram’s Green Beans. My Gram makes the most amazing green beans! In the past, I had tried to reproduce the way she does it, but it never would come out the same. Finally, she actually showed me what to do instead of just telling me – that’s a huge difference for some reason!
Here’s what you’ll need to make them…
- 1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 large celery stalk, chopped
- 14 oz. can diced tomatoes, drained
- 2 tsp. extra virgin olive oil
That’s it! Just through all the ingredients in a pot, cover and cook until beans are well done.
Try them, you’ll love them!
Thanks again Marisa for guest posting!

There is a dish very similar to this one (minus the celery) in Martha Stewart’s newest cookbook, and I just recently made it after having green beans with tomatoes as a side at a restaurant. It seemed like an odd combination to me at first, but I fell in love with it and how simple it is to make. I’m especially excited to make it since I have canned green beans and tomatoes from my grandma’s garden this past summer 🙂 I’m looking forward to trying this version with the celery; thanks for the recipe!
