Happy Friday, er, Saturday, all! We just got back from our friends Christmas party and it was a total blast. Just another thing I LOVE about the holidays is getting together with friends from all over and catching up on life. This post is going to be fast since we have to be up WAY too early and are gone all day tomorrow.
Can you believe I found AMAZING blueberries in December? TJ’s had a HUGE container (2 lbs) for only $5.99.
1 c Nature’s Path Multi-Grain Flakes
1 c blueberries
Cinnamon dust
1/2 c ff milk
4 pts of deliciousness
So, I know I was “supposed” to wait until afternoon to break these out, but, I just couldn’t resist….After all I have been carrying them around in my purse since yesterday.
Can you believe I found the 1 CALORIE dark chocolate?!
I LOVE these little guys and a little goes a long way. They are pretty dark in flavor and the cocoa bean gives them a super nice crunch.
After having a 10 am chocolate fix, I had a proper 2 point snack of Honey Roasted & Smoked Turkey Breast, Lowfat Colby Jack and snap peas.
For lunch, my co-worker and I headed out to get a “spicy” fix at Thai Kitchen. I started off with soup and added their hot chili sauce.
I ordered broccoli chicken because it is only TWO POINTS per cup then spiced it up with more chili sauce.
I had 1/2 of my brown rice cone~ 3ts.
I LOVE it when over 1/2 my plate is loaded with veggies and you are eating out somewhere.
When I got back to my desk, another one of my co-workers left a copy of the latest Eating Well Magazine for Jan/Feb 2010. I LOVE their mag and their pictures. I don’t even like grapefruit but that picture makes me want to try it 😀
Another co-worker brought me this Dark Chocolate Lace Cookie. It doesn’t look pretty, but, OMG, it is AMAZING! It’s like dark chocolate almond rocha. She was super cute because she was like I found cookies you can have and I saved the box so you can see they are not that bad for you :) I LOVE my co-workers sometimes….
Wooohoo only 3 points for that ENTIRE cookie. 120% worth it all the way!
Need I say more???
Traffic was AWESOME for a Friday and I was home in 18 minutes versus an hour. The Husband and I did a little shopping before we headed to our friends for a fun Christmas party.
I seriously LOVE all their Christmas decorations.
And because we are corny like that and don’t have a tree big enough to take a picture next year, we borrowed theirs to take our pic together 😀 CHEESE!
The little puppy I showed you all awhile back in all grown up now 🙂
There was a BIG spread of food but I just snapped pictures of the highlights of what I ate. A veggie tray is my lifesaver at EVERY party because I can snack on it ALL night long.
I always make something I am excited about having and that I can eat just in case there isn’t too many healthy options. I made my VEGAN pasta salad that is only 3 points per cup!
I tend to avoid any store bought goodies when I am at holiday parties because I can go and buy those any time. However, if it’s something homemade, I sample it first and decide if it is worth the calories/points. If it is, then, I totally dig in and have some. If not, why waste the calories on foods that are just eh, ok.
My Plate!
BBQ Chicken
Pasta Salad
Veggies
Plus a couple of shrimp and a mini taco not pictured along with a few corn chips
There are some exceptions to the rule of course, like, when, you see a cake called Triple Spice Layer Delight!!! I admit it, I had to dig into this!
It looks amazing, doesn’t it?
Ya, don’t let the picture fool ya! I didn’t like it at all :( I had two bites and gave the rest to The Husband who of course LOVED it. It was too sweet and had too many flavors going on plus that thick layer of frosting was kinda wierd in texture.
After dinner, the real FUN began…Our little Poker tournament. We played quarter poker and all bought in for $10. I did REALLY good and earned ALOT of quarters. I am now $31 dollars richer – yeah!
It was a fun night!
Thanks to everyone who played along in my Healthy Choice Giveaway ~ You ALL have such great ideas for how you are going to have Healthy Choice take something off your plate this holiday season.
It was tough to choose, but, I really LOVED Marie’s creativeness in her response……so the winner is…..
If I won this prize, I’d use it to get a healthful snack to leave out for Santa instead of the usual cookies and milk. That would “take off my plate” the task of making those cookies, and it’d be good for the jolly old elf, too!
Congrats, Marie! Please email your address to danicasdaily at gmail dot com so I can get your coupons sent out to you ASAP.
Have a great weekend all ~ I am off to catch some zzzz’s since I have to be up in 5 hours – ahhh!
