How do you celebrate?

June 24, 2013 by DanicasDaily 11 Comments

Happy Monday all!  I kept my promise of getting up early to get my jog/walk on and got right back to it today. I could totally tell it had been awhile since I’ve bonded with the treadmill because I was completely sucking wind LOL…I just kept telling myself each step, each day will get better, this is just my “new” starting point.  I felt so proud after it was over and it definitely set the rest of my day up for success.

All weekend long I have been craving Shredded Wheat with cinnamon and bananas…in that order too.  I normally avoid cereal because I am almost always hungry after an hour ~ Shredded wheat is one except.

3/4 cup Shredded Wheat w/1 Banana & 1 cup Milk (100% SF) – 5 points+

Mid morning snacks ~ Watermelon & a Sargento Light Colby Stick (SF) – 2 points+

Almost every Monday we have a working lunch meeting where we get to have these amazing sandwiches, salads and cookies from a local deli.  I love them so much it makes me want to switch Meatless Monday to another day just so I can have my 1/2 a sandwich!

1/2 Chipotle Turkey with Pepperjack on a homemade Dutch crunch roll (7 points+)

IMG_5064

Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin goodness (totally worth the points+) 4 points+

IMG_5063

All together with a little Caesar Salad (2 points+)

At our Wine Company we celebrate birthday’s and anniversaries with wine ~ Not Cake Open-mouthed smile

Today we toasted one of my co-worker’s 5 year Anniversary with our new Sparkling Italian Wine called Da Luca Prosecco.

I really like the fizz and it’s a nice change since the flavor it not sweet at all and pairs perfectly with salty, crunchy snacks. (2 points+)

Yesterday when we were planning out our menu for the week and grocery shopping, I let The Husband pick out some meats he wanted to barbecue.  It’s totally my secret to get him to cook but he doesn’t know it.

Grilled Pork Chops!  I had 4 oz of this on the bone side ~ he had the rest (4 points+) (SF)

IMG_5263

Served up with a 3/4 cup side of big shells and cheese (7 points+)

IMG_5261

Plus simple salads tossed with 1 Tbsp. Newman’s Light Lime Vinaigrette (1 points+)

That’s my problem, we celebrate too much…with wine and food! We actually have 2 anniversaries, a month apart: married on a beach in Australia, then a month later married in America by a friend…an excuse to go out to eat 🙂 I realize I really gotta do better with this “eating out’ thing…time to get back on the bandwagon for me! Love that you celebrate with wine at work!!!! Looking forward to some new grilling recipes 🙂

For special occasions we go to the Bellagio buffet in Las Vegas. They have fabulous food and we can find a lot of Power foods – crab, shrimp, fruit, delicious veggie dishes and salads, all kinds of great meats + low cal sorbet and ice cream. Maybe one glass of champagne. We just have to stay away from the cheesy, creamy, buttery, gooey delights they have – or just limit them to a small bite. Buffets are my favorite meals because I have better control over what I eat and how much.

On regular Sunday brunch buffets at any casino in Las Vegas, I eat egg white omeletes with veggies, no cheese. A lot of fruit, usually a piece of chicken or ham – sometimes carved beef. A small dish of low cal ice cream.

Light Lime Vinaigrette…….will have to look for that as it sounds really good. Kodiak Cakes also sound really good w/real Maple Syrup from VT!

Cake or cupcakes, and we go out to eat at a restaurant together. Sometimes we schedule vacation around them. If only ever special occasion included a vacation!

I am getting started tomorrow on the Weight Watchers program. I need to go shopping on Friday and I don’t know what to buy. Any suggestions would be helpful. Should I plan out each meal for the week? I eat out three times a week. I eat at Wild Ginger Restaurant on Tuesdays and order the habachi shrimp and mixed vegetables. I don’t know how to count the points. Please help!!!!!

Funny, you should ask! Today I am preparing the dessert for Bekkah’s 23rd birthday and the following day is Amy’s 22nd. July 6 I am preparing Nick’s 26th b-day meal. Doyle just had his in May! So, you guessed it! They choose the meal and I prepare it and we take them out to a movie. With six kids, we can’t afford lots of presents, but I have always prepared the meal of their choice. These are usually high point days! Tomorrow we are having chicken cordon bleu, maple glazed brussel sprouts with shallots and walnuts, cheesy creamy scalloped potatoes (low fat) and for dessert…(it is in the oven now) Carrotcake Cheesecake! Friday, Garlic and herb grilled chicken with grilled corn on the cob, Greek grilled veggies and for dessert GF Strawberry cheesecake Pie. Amy and her family are gluten intolerant and usually eat Paleo. When july comes around for Nick, it is steak, for sure. He loves grilled or roasted asparagus and brussel sprouts, baked potatoes, and mayhaps a cheesecake, but no chocolate and he has finally outgrown the dirtcake! yay! Talked to much! Have a wonderful day!
