Happy Friday Eve all! As we are making our Christmas List and checking it twice, I was reminded of these tasty Single Serving Cakes In A Mug that we made for everyone a few years ago. We have 10 teenage nieces and nephews that I never know what to buy for. I have pretty much come to the conclusion that they dig cash and gift cards the most. But, I hate giving just an envelope….it seems so impersonal. We had fun with it and came up 2 types of individual cakes they can cook in a mug.
I love these mug cakes because they are truly versatile, single servings and you probably have everything on hand right now to make them.
Simple ~ put all the dry ingredients in “baggies”, include the instructions for what wet ingredients to add and you are done.

All the dry ingredients you need for your very own Honey Crumb Cakes that you don’t have to share
Sprinkles are totally optional, but, I think it’s fun to add some color.
Cake mix in one bag, toppers in another.
I downloaded this Microsoft Word Snowman template to print my instructions on.
All the “dry ingredients” you need to make individual Triple Chocolate Mug Cakes.
I put my Cake Mixes in Coffee Mugs along with the printed instructions and their gift cards.

i tried emailing this question but your form just hangs on me.
just a quick stupid question….
For the chocolate one that says it makes enough for two — are the instructions assuming you’re making both at the same time?
do you normally split that up in separate bags/mugs?
I want to try making them up to hand out to a few people on xmas.
thanks!
DanicasDaily says
Hi N,
Yes, I mix up the entire cake mix and split it into two bags and into two mugs. It is easier to measure it all out that way then divide into two.
Hope that helps – I can’t wait to hear how the gifts go over 🙂

Great gift idea Danica!

LOVE these! I would love to know the points plus value of these too!
Marcia says
Hungry girl web site counts them as 5 pts plus

Have you ever heard of 3-2-1 cakes? You take an ENTIRE box of Angel Food cake Mix and another WHOLE box of cake mix (I like chocolate).
Mix the cake mixes together.
Spray your bowl or mug with cooking spray.
Add 3 Tablespoons of the cake mix
Add 2 Tablespoons of water (I sometimes use 1 TBSP of sugar free almond syrup)
1 minute in microwave
They are great and super LOW – cal. Just make sure one box is always Angel Food… the other can be anything.
Makes a lot… but they will go fast! My kids love with toppings… my husband loves a double 🙂

Doesn’t 5 points seem high?

Luv this idea! Thx for repeating for us new followers!!

3, 2, 1 cake is the easiest cake in a mug I’ve ever made. What you do is buy any flavor cake mix and then an angel food cake mix. Pour both into a gallon sized bag and shake well to mix. When you want to eat your own cake, you spray a mug with cooking spray. Measure 3 tablespoons of the mixed cake mixes into the mug. Measure 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Mix in the mug. Then microwave for 1 minute or 45 seconds. The cake is light and fluffy. I used chocolate cake mix and sometimes put in chocolate pudding or chocolate syrup. It’s especially good when you put a dallop of vanilla ice cream on top!

LOL Super weird that there was another commenter with the same idea and same name. 😛 And now that I read her take, maybe you are supposed to use water rather than vegetable oil. I’ve not made them in awhile so I’m out of habit of making the cake. 😉

I use unsweetened applesauce instead of oil. It lowers the calories by a 3rd and know one has ever been able to tell the difference.

First off, let me just say that I am 14 weeks pregnant, so when I crave something, I CRAVE it HARD lol I was really excited about some yellow cake in a mug!! And I winded up with a yellow ROCK in a mug.. Not sure if my microwave cooks way faster than everyone else’s, but I think a minute and a half would have sufficed ?
s_leroy says
That yellow rock is exactly what I ended up with too. Kids don’t care but I’m glad I didn’t make one for me!

In my opinion this was not good. Just tasted like microwaved eggs
