Happy Monday all! Thank you all so much for the Good Luck comments, tweets, facebook messages and emails for my first day at my New Job. It totally made my morning jitters go away when I woke up and saw all your messages. For those that asked me to take a picture, here is what I wore for my first day with black dockers and super cute black shoes.
Totally FUNNY, but, kind of cool side note ~ We all take pictures for our badges just like this, BUT, with the new Microsoft Outlook 2010, they have it set up so your fancy face shows up on every email you send.
CHEESE!
I actually ended up waking up way before my alarm so I had a nice leisurely morning. I whipped up Eggwiches for The Husband and I.
* 2 slices Trader Joe’s FF Multi-Grain Bread (3 points+)
* 1 “fried” egg (2 points+)
* 1 tsp whipped butter (1 points+)
Then, backed up a few things to take with me just in case I didn’t get the chance to grab lunch.
The Husband bought me a Starbuck’s for my commute ~ His on the left, mine on the right. I got a Grande NF, Decaf Latte with caramel drizzle on top (3 points+).
Let me just start out by saying I am completely and totally IN LOVE with my new workplace and the people.
This was sitting on my desk when I walked in ~ they all signed a Welcome card for me
There was also a bag of goodies ~ BECOME A GREEN LEADER ~ LOVE! They seriously know a way to my heart with all their sustainability measures.
Just a few of my favorite things in the bag ~ a Drink Coaster….
Sustainable Hot & Cold Mug that is made entire of…..
Corn Plastic!
Other cool things I LOVE about my new work place aside from everything else I’ve told you:
* You can check out a bike for a ride anytime from the bike library
* They have an entire GYM on one floor for employees to use anytime
* The mini trash & big recycle bins complete with a composting program
* A water machine that has the “good crushed ice”
The view from my office with wall sized windows……To the left is the river….
With a FULL view of the River Cats Baseball Stadium and downtown on the right.
The Waterfront Café!!! This is the café in our building that is open for breakfast & lunch with a TON of options. I am pretty sure I NEED to do a full review of everything here for you all
My HUGE $6 salad….I had 15 minutes to eat between meetings so I had to take it to go.
I built this salad at our salad bar:
* Romaine, tomatoes, cucumber & steamed broccoli
* 1 Tbsp Grilled Corn & 1 Tbsp Chickpeas (1 points+)
* 1 Tbsp Sunflower Seeds (1 points+)
* 2 tsp dried cranberries & croutons that totally tasted like Thanksgiving (2 points+)
The BEST TWO parts of this salad that made it so you didn’t need dressing
~ Grilled Veggies & Egg Salad (4 points+)
The Husband told me he wanted to take me out to dinner to celebrate ~ no cooking works for me. We ended up at Mary’s Pizza Shack.
I got their usual salad with ranch on the side (4 points+)
BEST TRICK EVER ~ I really wanted pasta, but, I didn’t want the red sauce. Instead, I ordered the Grilled Chicken & Mushroom Fettuccine with NO Alfredo Sauce.
This totally hit the spot and I saved so many points+ by skipping the creamy sauce. (12 points+)
Q’s
Keeping with the theme ~ Name one thing you LOVE about your job.
Night all!
Hey Danica, I live in West Sac! I didn’t realize your new job was so close! Welcome to the area! I work in South Natomas which is on the other side of downtown! Can’t wait to hear about all of the great restaurants that are in the area. I don’t get over to Old Town much, but I can walk there if I wanted to! 🙂
Hope you like your new job!
One thing I love about my job is that I live so close to work. I also have a couple of people that I have grown really close to and get along with everyone at my office.
Hi Shannon,
Yeah!!! I am sooo excited you live close to where I am working now. We will definitely have to schedule a lunch to go and explore some new delicious place to eat. 🙂
Danica
Congrats on your first day of work, Danica! You look great! The new job looks very exciting. =) It’s awesome that you get to be apart of something you love.
Brilliant idea on the no Alfredo sauce because I am so sick of getting red sauce as well! I’m sure the chicken and mushrooms gave it plenty of flavor!
I know you’ve mentioned it before but how do you make your “fried” egg? I’m thinking about getting more eggs in my diet.
Hi Robin,
The “secret” to a perfectly fried egg is to use nonstick spray over low heat. Here is a post I did to show how I make my Egg-Wiches if that helps.

P.s. I don’t know if this is just me, but apparently my Google Reader is not picking up all of your posts. =(
Hi Robin,
Is your google reader still not picking up my posts?
Thanks,
Danica
You look beautiful! So happy for you and the new job! We are moving to a brand new building at work in 2 weeks and I just saw my new office: WINDOWS!!! Yipee!! AND I get 2 bookshelves!! We will also have a cafeteria with lots of choices…hope our salad bar is as good as yours 🙂 What I love about my work place is the peeps…I just came back from a 2 1/2 week vaca and all day yesterday they were coming into my office telling me how much I was missed 🙂
Sounds like you had a great first day at your new job. Congratulations! The one thing I LOVE about my job is……I get to see my two youngest kids at work every day (I work at their school). Unfortunately this is their last year at this school so the future may be bringing changes for me.
On a side note, I’ve been searching for Arnold sandwich thin minis since you posted about them a while ago. I FINALLY found them yesterday at Wal Mart.
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Yeah!!! So glad you found them and good to know Walmart sells them!
Glad you’re loving the new job!
I have two favorite things about my (part-time) job. 1) I’m on my feet for 5 hours, so I earn a ton of APs 2) I get to see all sorts of Broadway shows, concerts, and comedians, and I don’t have to pay for the tickets! 🙂
Continued good luck with the new job!!
congrats on the first day! they have some awesome perks 🙂
Congratulations on your first day of the new job! You look fabulous! It sounds like a great place to work and a good fit for you. Wishing you all the best!
I love my boss and the girls I work with! Congrats on your first day. Looks like a great company, even if you did have to give up your flip-flops and jeans!
Congrats on your new job Danica! I just got a new job as well (started Aug 1). I looooove my new job as well. I have so many things I like about it but the main three is that I work with a team of great women, it is 2 mins from my gym (no excuses now) and much closer to home:) Good luck with everything:)
Congratulations! I love that you love your new job. It’s such a bummer when that doesn’t happen. And you looked so pretty for your first day, by the way! Since I am a full time stay-at-home mom (SAHM), I love that my “job” allows me to do what I love – to take care of my family and our home.
AHH just one thing!!!???? I work for OPI Nail products and love that I get to work from home in San Diego 3 days and in Los Angeles 2 days!! LOVE LOVE more things… muajh!
I love that shirt, it is super cute. I love my job because we have a full gym that is open from 6 am to 7 pm. We have classes, as well as personal trainers. I also love the fact that we have a nice cafe, and the salads are delish. Congrats on your new job
Sooo happy for you! Your new jobs looks amazing!! What a cool place! 🙂 Congrats!!!
it sounds like you have made a wonderful choice and transition!!! i am still coming out to San Fran in a few weeks, so not sure if you might be able to do lunch or anything 🙂
haha love the first day photo! you are too cute. i am so glad you found a job that you will love. ordering a pasta dish without the sauce is a really good idea–i would totally do that and ask for a bottle of balsamic vinegar to dress it myself. thanks for the idea.
You have no idea how lucky you are! You have so many resources for health and food choices! We have a local gym for the whole population, and a Subway 🙂 I am so envious of your posts because of your opportunities. Congratulations, you look awesome and happy. Your jobs looks fantastic, i love the support to health. I may have to leave my husband and children…just sayin…(o.k. a little to far:) Keep posting, so I can live through you and your ideas and the places you go. Feels like I travel for free.Thanks Danica!
Wow Congrats on your new job. So glad you love it and it went great on your first day. All the goodies are really cool and awesome they did that for you.
Danica you are so beautiful – Just wanted you to know.
Their cafe is the bomb.com – Wish my work had that. We have vending machine food and that is it. Needless to say I pack my lunch – EVERYDAY…
Congratulations! What a wonderful beginning to your new endeavors. It’s so funny – you took my all-time favorite Larabar (Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough) with you. When it gets a little melty, it’s the most delicious bar there is. Anyway, good luck to you!!
So excited for your new job! They look so welcoming and friendly 🙂 Keep us posted!
I don’t have a job (heh, i should), but I love eeeeeeverything about college so far! The people, the opportunities, the FOOD, it couldn’t be any better! Hooray for life changes and new experiences 🙂
first off, congrats on the job! I’m so happy you’ve found something that’s more challenging and fun for you!!! How exciting!
And you know I love everything about my job…I just wish it were more on the conservation and preservation side of things instead of pre-construction!
What I love about my job is that I meet and get to know wonderful women along the way and once in a while I actually help that person make a real and lasting change in his or her life.
BTW Danica you looked lovely on your first day of work.
Wow….what a great start. LOVE the welcome card idea!!!! (so cool about the photo on outlook!!) A positive, warm workplace makes SUCH a difference! What do I love about my job right now??? This is so sad, the job itself, not much, we are in a HUGE transition here, and we are all very unsettled. BUT…I love 5:00, my paycheque every two weeks and a few of my colleagues. Hope the positive momentum continues for the week. yay you!!
You look BEAUTIFUL !
I love that I get paid to grocery shop!
I’m glad you are loving the new job! What a cute welcome card and package.
Sounds like your job has some amazing perks and a great cafeteria.
Have a great week.
So happy for you ‘climbing the ladder’ and finding such a wonderful place to work. Knowing your personaility you’re a BIG asset to this company. What high spirits you are always in.
Congratulations Danica on the new job- cant wait to read more about it!

Genius move on the pasta! I am so excited that I found your blog. I just (re)started WW and have about 30 lbs to lose so I’ll most definitely be back here for inspiration!
Sounds like a great place to work! So happy your first day was a success!! Your picture reminded me of my mine taking our 1st day of school pictures. She never missed out on a photo op.
I work for a wine and spirits importer. Free wine & spirits are A-OK in my book. 🙂
Wow, that card they made you is so sweet! Congrats!
I don’t know you. I am frustrated with my current job and went to one of those “I hate my job” sites and could feel the negativity infesting my body as I read numerous testimonies. I left that site and immediately typed into Google, “I love my new job” and that’s how I stumbled upon your post. It made me feel better. Congratulations that you work someplace that appreciates you and treats you well.
