It’s the little things

August 21, 2009 by DanicasDaily 7 Comments

Knowing that it was Friday made getting up this morning so much easier.  It amazes how just being “Friday” makes your day seem THAT much better before it even starts.  Then again, I am a little things person so it doesn’t take much to make me happy 😀 LOL

I think that when I am tired my brain does not work as far as what I am planning to eat.  This morning was simple but really really.  I took 1 big cup of Kashi Heart to Heart & 1/3 c Trader Joe’s Fiber worms.

Added a banana and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Plus 1 cup of Fat Free Milk (after the picture) ~ all together with the Hooray It’s Friday work coffee mug. I think I may have got a “little” happier just drinking my coffee from this mug :D  It’s the little things I tell ya.

Mid morning I snacked on a Trader Joe’s light string cheese & two D.A.R.E 8 Seeded Crackers.   I LOVE the nutty, richness of these crackers and honestly two is the perfect 70 calorie serving.

IMG_0824

I have really been craving almond butter lately and knew exactly what I wanted for lunch.  I took one slice of Ezekiel Multi-Grain Bread and topped it with some crunch almond butter.

IMG_0826

Then, I added a little almond butter & organic apricot preserves to the other half.

IMG_0827

I thought of putting my nectarine IN my sandwich, but, changed my mind at the last minute and decided to cut it up with a sugar plum for dessert.

IMG_0828

I was thinking the whole way through lunch, “wow, this is so good! I NEED to do this more often”  It’s the little things ~ so easy to make yet so perfect!

IMG_0829

I got another POMTastic package yesterday from the wonderful people at POMWonderful.  They sent FOUR bottles of their POMx Antioxidant SuperTea for me to try.  I LOVE that the new bottle design that is earth friendly & 100% recyclable!  Kudos to POMx for being GREENER!

IMG_0838

I LOVE the super cute pen they sent along with my package ~ It’s the little things that get me excited – seriously 🙂 LOL

IMG_0839

I received TWO flavors.  The first is Peach Passion White Tea. They have a regular & a light version of each of their FIVE flavors.  I LOVE that they are VERY LOW IN CAFFEINE since it is something I look out for.  Caffeine makes me into a crazy hyper active person, although, it does keep my heart in an “aerobic” cardio state :D  More calories burned?! I wish LOL….

IMG_0840 IMG_0841

The other flavor is Blackberry Pomegranate!!! This was by far the flavor that totally caught my attention ~ I think I LOVE Berry anything really 🙂

IMG_0842 IMG_0843

We all know that Tea has fantastic benefits, but, this hand-picked homemade tea is paired with POMWonderful 100% Pomegranate juice making the health benefits AMAZING!!!  Each tea contains MORE antioxidants than red wine, green tea, grape and acai extracts.

I immediately opened the POMx Blackberry tea to give it a try.   I honestly LOVED it ~ maybe more so than straight up POMWonderful POM Juice.  It’s so light and refreshing and you can taste ALL the flavors ~ the tea, the POM Juice and the blackberries.

IMG_0846

Just being corny with the camera ~ The Husband convinced me to model the tea cuz I am a dork like that and listen.  He had fun teasing me……

IMG_0849

Not being one to ever have any drink by itself, I quickly whipped up a "POMx “MockTail” using fizzy water and my Blackberry POMx.  WOW!!! I actually wasn’t sure how good it would, but, it’s was so good!  This might be my favorite new addiction and I’ll definitely be sparkling up my POMx tea! It might just be the BEST Mocktail I’ve made yet.

IMG_0850

Thanks again all the POMx POMWonderful Peeps ~ I LOVE the tea I’ve had so far and I cannot wait to try the other flavor ~ YUM!  It was the perfect “present” to start my weekend.

Dinner tonight was a combination of everything we both were craving.  I have been craving Bok Choy ever since I bought it (yes, I STILL have to use the one I bought way back when).  Tonight, I did a quick stir-fry in a little canola oil, garlic & sea salt.  Twas delish and I wanted to eat even more but I was full.

IMG_0832

We both were craving Annie’s Mac n Cheese.  So, The Husband fixed up a batch of Annie’s Aged Shells & Cheddar.  I think I am ALWAYS craving mac n cheese 😀

IMG_0837

Since I was too lazy to make any chicken, I picked up a Rotisserie chicken on my way home from work.  I actually didn’t eat the skin, but, it looked really funny in the picture without it.  So, I put it back for picture taking purposes then tossed it 😀

IMG_0833

All together dinner was so easy and so good!  We both just kept talking about how good it was as we ate LOL ~ ha!  It’s the little things, right?  This wasn’t fancy at all but it totally hit the spot.

IMG_0830

After dinner, we got our exercise in washing our Jet Skis and working on the siding on our house. Oh and we also did a little more vacation planning!  I got my new passport in the mail so we officially registered online for our cruise.  I CAN’T WAIT!

For my Caribbean Countdown, I made a decision!  I am forever inspired by Janetha and her fantastic meals and moves.  I have exactly 3 months/12 weeks to get ready for the cruise which is EXACTLY the amount of time needed to do the Body For Life Challenge!  I know I am going to do the workouts 100% and apply their food philosophy of matching proteins with healthy carbs, however, I will still track my points/calories so I know I am keeping myself in check (basically putting it into the Weight Watchers Frame Work).  I’ll give you all full details this weekend, but, Sunday will mark Day 1.  I am super excited, but, nervous too.  I think I NEED a good challenge to get my focus back.

JOIN ME!

Does anyone want to join in on any part of this challenge with me?  I’d LOVE to have support and buddies along the way for a day, a week, a month or 12 WEEKS 😀

I am off to read and catch some zzzz’s since tomorrow is a busy day!  Nite all!

anyway, danica, on a serious note, i know you will do SO good with BFL because of one reason alone: you are committed. whenever you pick something to do, you stick to it no matter what. i remember reading along with your bikini boot camp thing and your 30 day jump start thing and YOU ARE DETERMINED and disciplined like no other! so you will ROCK IT!
