Happy Hump Day all! I know it’s Wordless Wednesday and they say a picture can say 1,000 words, but, I think our trip The Grand Canyon deserves a little commentary. I am so excited to share our Arizona adventures with you all so I will be mixing them up in my usual random fashion ~ eats, travel recap, recipes, more travel fun….basically whatever sounds good that day and what I have time for…LOL.
Sooo, get ready for RECAP #1 ~ The Digs & The Grand Canyon!
After driving like 800 miles, we ended up at our first destination The Wyndham Flagstaff! Even though this is one of the older Wyndham’s, I have to say it did not disappoint. We had a cute little 1 bedroom and my sis had the 2 bedroom complete with a fireplace and a hot tub on their balcony!
The Living Room
Dining Room
Kitchen
The Bedroom complete with a Sleep Number Bed control ~ We digged it!
The resort had so many activities, we probably could’ve spent the entire time there and been entertained.
Outdoor Volleyball, basketball, tennis courts, gym, golf course, BBQs everywhere.
A cafe that served up Starbuck’s Chai Tea Lattes at 20% off daily ~ LOVE!!!
The home theatre I NOW want at our house ~ those beans bags were so huge we could all sit in them head to tow. They let you pick any movie and watch it in stereo on the roll down Theatre screen.
The game room which included pool tables, Wii’s and X-Boxes along with board games.
The Pool
The Kiddie Pool ~ I LOVE the built in sprinklers 😉
Outdoor pool and ping pong tables
But, my FAVORITE was the put put golf course 😀
After spending the first day relaxing and NOT in the car, we decided it was time to head out to the GRAND CANYON!
Stop #1 ~ The Grand Canyon IMAX movie
I am not sure what I was expecting from the movie, but, it was just OK….cheesy early life recreations to create a story along with some good history about first explorers of the Grand Canyon.
You have TWO options when you visit the Grand Canyon ~ to take their free shuttle buses to all the stops or to drive to most of them.
Since we had a car full of tourists (a.k.a. we are all insane picture takers), we decided to drive to the stops we could.
My FAVORITE TOURIST! 😉
No matter how many pictures I show you all, they do not do justice to the Grand Canyon ~ it is so incredibly HUGE and breathtaking. The colors change all day long with how the sun and clouds reflect off of it.
That would be my sister’s CRAZY Husband who hiked out there to get a “better” view.
You can see the canyon for miles & miles.
The color of all the rock formations is just plain amazing ~ even on our cloudy day you can see all of the different hues.
The Colorado River flows through the canyon.
My Skinny Minnie Sis and Au Natural Me <3
You can hike the stairs all the way to the top to take pictures.
The entire inside is decorated with paintings.
It started to POUR rain just as we finished our last stop ~ You can see the rain making its way to the Desert View Tower in this picture.
I wish I could’ve taken you all with me to see The Grand Canyon ~ it is just as amazing and beautiful as you hear everyone say. If you’ve never been, you NEED to add it to your life list of places to see!
Then again, I also LOVED Slide Rock Park, Red Rock Park and Sedona ~ Coming up on my next recaps 😀
Night all!
wow!!!! those photos look like they came straight out of post cards! and I love those huge bear bean bag thingys. cant wait for the next recaps!
Beautiful! The house, the canyons, and of course you!!!
It’s been a long time since I visited the Grand Canyon – your photos remind me that I *have* to take my son!! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Wonderful photos!! We just got back from an awesome trip to Colorado and Wyoming ~ Jackson Hole area – fabulous beauty out west!!!
BEAUTIFUL pics Danica 😉 My MIL lives in Flagstaff and we love visiting there. That’s where Brian proposed to me 😀 (Lake Mary). Did you guys happen to be any where near the lake ?
Loved all the pics! I’ve never been to the GC so it was nice to see so many great pics! 🙂
WOw! I love it all so far! The sights are lovely, I wish I could see them first hand. The accommodations are awesome–bean bag theater?! Cool. It looks like the trip was just perfect. You guys are always doing such fun things! Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you!
Great photos! Thanks for sharing with us.
I love reading and seeing other blogger’s vacation pictures. I post my vacation pics too.
Beautiful pictures of the canyon, it didn’t look windy at all.
The Wyndham hotel you stayed at looks more than a hotel, was it a time share place too? It had so much great amenities 🙂 More so than normal hotels
In a word…WOW! The Grand Canyon shots are AMAZING!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
Hi Mary,
You know, we were right by Lake Mary. We never went to the lake but we saw the signs. So cool – good job Brian!
Danica
HI Lea,
I agree – I LOVE seeing other’s vacation pics – it helps me decide which places I “need” to go to next.
Yes, Wyndham is a Time Share – we love it so much more than hotels and it saves on $$ when you can prep your own meals.
