Lunch at The Tomato!

August 14, 2009 by DanicasDaily 9 Comments

Is it just me or does today feel like the LONGEST day ever?  I was undecided on what to do for lunch and then my co-worker mentioned Mammarella’s!  I haven’t had a chance to go back for the “FREE lunch” they gave me for my first blog post/blogger sighting.  We headed back to the “Tomato” today and had a fantastic lunch al fresco and we even had the chance to park in the “Tomato” parking spot – so fun!  I LOVE that they painting spots with a tomato on them.

They have super cute table decorations now and I WISH I had ordered something to put that Frank’s Blood Red Hot Sauce on!

My co-worker got their $6 Pizza & Salad Combo.  Isn’t that such an awesome deal?  I have to admit I was drooling over her pizza but she did cut me a bite off – delish!  I LOVE thick, doughy pizzas – it’s all about the crust!

I ordered a modified version of the Beet Salad we shared last time.  I switched out the goat cheese for parmesan cheese and had them put it over a bed of mixed greens.  It was so good this way – LOVED the crispiness of the greens with the sweetness of the beets.

I did miss the endive this go round, but just look at all that “beet” goodness with pistachios and green beans.  I finished my plate and had room left for dessert.

This dessert is seriously something to dream about ~ it is beyond amazing and I think I could have eaten just this for lunch.  It’s called Gia Nipotina Mia ~ pizza dough stuffed with Nutella and banana, baked and sprinkled with powdered sugar & cocoa powder.

You get tastes of everything in just the right about – the warm nutella chocolate, the banana that is cooked just perfectly along with the pizza bread – YUM!!! I think that we pretty much stopped talking when this came out and savored every bite LOL.  It was so good I am already thinking about how I can go back for more!

Now only if today could just go by a little faster…I do have to say I am entertained by all the Tweets today about the Healthy Living Summit.  So jealous of everyone going to Boston, but, I couldn’t make The Husband give up his birthday weekend for me to go.  I think it’s a fair trade since now we can do our Caribbean cruise instead!  Maybe next year 🙂

Guess what all ~ I think I might actually cook a real meal tonight?!  Shocked?! I know it’s been awhile but I owe you all some recipes and good eats.  I am thinking of a POM chicken salad with POM Vinaigrette or possibly Mushroom Kale Cheesy Ravioli’s.  MMMMM…..

See you for dinner!

Sounds awesome. Now I know what to do with extra pizza dough! YUM!

I live in Central Massachusetts and missed this one due to scheduling conflicts. If you go next year we’ll have to meet up! I hope to attend next time too!
