Happy Sunday all! As you all learned with my BB (Body Bugg), BM (Body Media) ~ probably the worst name I’ve chosen yet and AL (Active Link)….ok and well, Scooter (my MINI!) that I have a thing for naming my worldly possessions. Today has been such a fantastic day on so many levels….let me start off by counting the ways.
UP first, my Weight Watchers Meeting chalking up another 1.4 lbs lost!!! I am glad to see the scale continuing to move back down in my favor once again.
Before heading out the door, I topped one Kodiak Cake that I made yesterday with 1 Tbsp. Trader Joe’s Sunflower Butter & 1 Tbsp. Trader Joe’s Raspberry Jam (it tastes just like raspberries).
Then, I used another Kodiak Cake to put a lid on it (7 points+)
The irony ~ I usually have time to eat breakfast after weighing in before the meeting, but, today I did not….The beginning topic, focused eating ~ without distractions ~ oops LOL. If it counts for anything, I DID enjoy every single bite “during” the conversation.
After the meeting, we headed straight to Healdsburg to check out another antique fair. While The Husband browsed, I headed over to my favorite Mustache Cupcakery to get Four Barrels Coffee. I picked up a Lemon Macaroon for him too ~ isn’t it beautiful? I did have a bite and discovered I love these colorful cookies ~ they are crunchy on the outside, moist and creamy on the inside…they literally melt in your mouth.
After walking the fair and Healdsburg Avenue checking out all the shops on both sides of the street, we headed over to The Wurst Restaurant.
I started with a Teas’ Tea…..
While waiting for our food, I read the bottle and wondered if they should use this “quote” as an inspirational quote on their bottle….it’s not a good thought to think of muddied water while drinking ummm, brown tea!
All week long I had planned on having this Cowboy Burger ~ it’s this delicious local beef burger topped with local sharp cheddar, BACON, Liar’s BBQ sauce, homemade pickles, romaine, tomatoes and beer battered onion rings.
I am totally proud of the fact that I ordered the Junior Burger of the real deal….no stopping at salad or a veggie dog (while both super good), I went for exactly what I wanted and enjoyed every single points+. The breakdown based on ingredients 14 points+
I had a double success in ordering their pickled coleslaw versus sweet potato fries saving a whole lotta points+ (this is 0!)
The Husband order….any guesses? He couldn’t decide on a sausage or a hot dog so he got both LOL.
Along with Garlic Fries….I am probably the only person around that doesn’t love garlic fries. It’s not the flavor I mind as much as the fact that you taste them all day long. I feel the same way about Apple Jolly Ranchers.
On our way back, we made two stops just for me ~ First up ~ Target because one of my fabulous friends told me she found her FitBit Flex at Target! Thank you Target ~ I love you for having the flex in stock (I couldn’t handle waiting 6-8-12 weeks while everywhere else was backordered).
As you all may recall, I started pining for this back in April.
My thoughts so far ~ I am kinda IN LOVE with all it does and that I can see instant results with automatic updating on my iPhone. I wish they would have the same feature with the Droid Razr Maxx….soon.
The other cool thing ~ it syncs up with the free My Fitness Pal app and online tracker so you can compare your calories in with your calories out. If you wanted to get really social, you can post to Facebook and twitter instantly each day as well.
It is also FREE with no monthly fee to do any of this.
What I am looking forward to aside from learning more (there is nothing in the box to tell you anything about the flex ~ just one sheet of paper that says go to www.fitbit.com/setup in about 4 languages.….checking out the community of users, seeing my results (of course), setting some goals and challenging friends…then, getting the awards you can earn online!
Stop #2 was at Barnes and Nobles to use my coupon & pick up another Sophie Kinsella Book ~ Wedding Night! I already finished I’ve Got Your Number and loved it….can’t wait to dive in!
After hitting a few more stores, we both pondered going home to cook or grabbing a salad at Mary’s….Mary’s won. Without thinking, I grabbed a piece of bread when they brought it out.
Sticking with my counting it all 2 points+
We shared a large Mary’s House Salad ~ I get the beats, he gets the salami and then, we share the rest. I had about half with ranch, fork dipped on the side 4 points+.
Then, we shared a small veggie pizza (he picked veggie ~ so proud of my meat lover!) I had two slices for 8 points+.
We figured we cap off our fun day with a stop at the yogurt shop. In today’s mix ~ strawberry, coconut and vanilla froyo topped with sprinkles, Captain Crunch!, a few white chocolate chips and a little whipped cream for no real reason at all. 5 points+
- STATS: 40 Daily Points+, 14 WPA used, 35 WPA remaining
- FB (worn for 3 hours): 2,232 steps, .96 miles, 1,653 calories burned and 1 sleep alarm tested just for fun!
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
How are you celebrating Memorial Day? And more importantly, what are you making?
We are heading over to our friends for a BBQ, Wine Tasting and Pool party. I am bringing the Healthy Potato Salad and Kale Chips (because they totally go together!) and we are grilling steak with salad.
Night all!

I did the same thing with a cheese burger yesterday. I just had to have one and it was worth every bite 🙂
I think garlic fries are tasty but you can smell them in the pores for the rest of the day. Stinky!
Robyn @ Blueberries and Oats says
Sadly I won’t really be celebrating Memorial Day since my boyfriend doesn’t have the day off and I’ll be stuck inside all day studying for exams. I also don’t have anything to cook in the fridge! Yikes….
Thanks for sharing your book finds! I’ve never even seen that one but I did just grab two other Sophie Kinsella books from the library. I just finished reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and wow was it a mind trip! Have you read it?
Congrats on the weight loss!
Staci says
I can’t stand apple jolly ranchers! I think I would enjoy burping up garlic fries all day, though. ROFL. Should you REALLY be proud of your 2-dogs-for-lunch man? He probably just couldn’t handle any more meat! Haha,

I have the fitbit one and really like it, but it is too easy to forget on your bra or pants and I am always worried I’ll wash it. I think I’ll try the flex, it is good to know they have it at Target! Good luck with your WW goals, I just started 3 weeks go and down 4 lbs.
Martina says
Looking forward to your updates on your FitBit Flex. I’m thinking of getting one but not available in the UK for a couple of weeks.

I had planned on making scones for breakfast, but now that I’ve seen your Kodiak cakes….not sure 🙂 I so love macaroons….they just opened a macaroon shop on the Ave here in Delray Beach…so today we’re hitting that today, AND the new Orange Leaf yogurt shop!! Sliders (lunch) and chicken (dinner) for us today…trying out a new recipe using one of my Vermont Harvest chutneys! Have a safe and happy Memorial Day!
Ann in Baton Rouge says
We’re having your Harvest Grain Salad with some grilled chicken today, along with some grilled asparagus.
As far as ‘celebrating’ the day, I’ll take some time out to say a few prayers in honor of those who drew their last breath in the defense of their country.
I have a question for you–why do you use a FitBit, and not Active Link?
Marne says
Can’t wait to hear your Fit Bit review! I have the WW AL but want to mix it up and see what’s out there. I like that this incorporates sleep into the picture.

Hi, Danica… Don’t be offended, but that was a hecka lot of food you ate in one day! I don’t recall having seen you at 40 pts. before…. A couple of questions. (1) What are Kodiak Cakes (they look good); and (2) curious how you would burn 1,600+ cals. by walking less than a mile (.96). Just asking because we use the XL Glider which tracks cals. burned, and a round trip walk to pick up our mail (all up hill on the way back) is 2.5 miles, and I don’t think I burn anywhere near 1,000 cals?

We don’t have Memorial Day in Canada. The week before (3rd Monday of every May) we have Victoria Day in celebration of Queen Victoria’s birthday and to honor her for the fact she allowed Canada to leave colony status and become a country on its own. We had lots of BBQ consisting of burgers, steaks, ribs, grilled pork, big leafy salads and sweet potatoes. It was a feast ^_^ I used the meats as a garnish to my salads. Kind of like meaty croutons.
My Mom got the Jawbone by Apple for Mother’s Day. It’s like the FitBit only there is no clasp to it. Kind of reminds me of a Q-Ray bracelet made out of rubber instead of metal. This syncs with her Samsung smartphone and tells her everything she might want to know about her body’s functions (steps, heart rate, caloric intake and output, and sleep paterns). So far she loves it and loves the fact that it’s so easy to use, being not the most technologically savvy person out there. I’m tempted to get one, but so far my 1st generation iPod Nano is doing the trick nicely.

I’m a two gadget girl – I’ve had the Fitbit Ultra for several years and the Active Link since last fall. I love them both, but they do totally different things. My favorite thing now on the Fitbit is being able to track how long and well I sleep, and AL has made me move more because what I thought was pretty good on Fitbit did not get me anywhere near 100% of my activity points.
Cindy says
Let me know what you think of the Flex, I’ve heard both + and – things. I have a FB One, which I LOVE! The – I’ve heard about the Flex is that it doesn’t count stairs and that if you’re pushing a cart in the grocery store it won’t count those steps. Let me know what you think!

A note to Karen and anyone else who wears a FITBIT ONE. I made a lanyard out of an old thin cloth hairband and looped it around my bra strap and tuck it inside my bra. It is very hard to miss when I get undressed unless I for some reason stuck it in my pocket, lol! Love all you can do with the FitBit gear.
Not celebrations here today but thanking those who gave all for our freedom.

I just purchased a fit-bit this weekend and am on my second full day using it. Mine is not a flex–it just clips on–but I am assuming it is similar. I use myfitnesspal so it is really cool to see it all link together. My husband got one as well so I see it becoming a competition to log the most steps!
Also, that burger looks incredible!
Shannon says
I love my FitBit. I have the FitBit One and I wear it on my bra. I can’t even tell it’s there. I must admit, I haven’t been great about wearing it to bed on my wrist but I love all of the features that comes with the FitBit. It is really easy to learn everything when you register your FitBit. They tell you everything you need to know as you are logging in for the first time.
Good luck!

Just wanted to say hi and thank you for having this awesome site, at this time I had to quit WW’s and have been having a bit of a struggle with gaining the weight back, but thanks to your site I am working on turning that around. Your the only site that speaks plain English and lets us know what a lot of the foods are, there are a lot out there I have never tried and don’t know if I will but your awesome page keeps it real and down to earth, Again thanks so very much. Have a great day!

I love Macarons! There is a bakery by work that makes the little colorful french cookies and they make a salted carmel that IS TO DIE FOR!!!! It is so unbelievably good!

Great site! I noticed your posting about the fitbit and weight watchers. I found an awesome app that converts fit bit activity into weight watcher points. Thought I would share. The app was released to sync Fitbit data and convert to Weight Watchers points. It is the activity conversion feature of the fitwatchr app http://www.fitwatchr.com I have been really happy with it. P.S. I love Trader Joes!!!
