My 1st Gold Star!

January 27, 2012 by DanicasDaily 17 Comments

Happy Friday Eve all!!!  I couldn’t resist sharing the picture of my Sis and her hilarious Husband in this week’s Wordless Wednesday.  What can I say ~ It totally runs in the family and we are all clowns like that who can’t resist walking past the “put your face here” signs LOL….

My day started off with one of the coolest things ever that we have at work ~ I got my first ever GOLD STAR!!! We have a program that you can nominate someone who goes above and beyond, then, send them a card plus a Gold Star Balloon……

It totally makes me happy to look up at this all day ~ and yup, it’s totally the little things….r

IMG_3474

Breakfast started with a Perfect Hard Boiled Egg (I have a post for you all that I will be doing on how I boil my eggs) for 2 points+.

IMG_2697

Followed up with the last 3 of our Apple Cinnamon Chip Muffins (he left me have them!) and a banana ~ LOVE! (4 points+)

IMG_3476

I actually made up a BIG Taco Salad for lunch before I headed out to catch the train this morning.

IMG_3485

I used all my of leftover Individual Bean Dip & Chips Leftovers to make up my mix:

  • Organic Romaine Lettuce
  • 3 oz Taco Meat (3 points+)
  • 1/2 oz Low-Fat Sharp Cheddar (2 points+)
  • Jalapenos, tomatoes, green onions
  • 1 Tbsp Olives (1 points+)
  • 1 Tbsp Corn Salsa (1 points+)
  • Hot Sauce…..

Plus, CRUNCH!!! 1/2 ounce Tostitos Mini Bite Sized Chips (2 points+)

IMG_3492

All packed up and ready to go in my super cool container!

IMG_3491

All mixed up ~ crunchy, spicy, sweet and this totally hit the spot!

IMG_3497

For snack I had an apple and a Cabot Cheese that somehow went unpictured (1 points+).

After work, I was off to Reflection Salon & Spa to see my FAVORITE hair dresser ever while The Husband headed over to play poker!  I honestly LOVE that you can have homemade STEAMED chicken potstickers ordered, delivered and waiting for you when you arrive.

I totally resisted eating the entire container.  (10 points+)

IMG_4838_thumb

I always bring her a Starbuck’s  and I got a Tall nonfat decaf latte to sip as we chatted the night away (3 points+)

Coming up tomorrow ~ are you all ready for it….I know you’ve asked…..

MY HEALTHY SUPER BOWL RECIPE SELECTION!

Night all!

    Danica,

How many points are the mini muffins? 2 pts each? 1 pt each? I’ve seen it listed differently in a couple of places. Still trying to find the cinnamon chips before I can make them, however. Thanks again for your fabulous website. I love it! So inspirational. Just wanted you to know I’ve lost 6.8 pounds in 2 weeks. It sure comes off more slowly as the weeks go by (only 1 pound last week), but I’m determined to stick with it, even if I gain weight. I know if I practice the discipline, the results will follow eventually. And, I know I can count on you for encouragement when it gets tough. Thank you!

      Hi Vonda,

This is the area I go back and forth with but usually tend to error on the high side. In theory, you should be able to eat each muffin for 1 points+ each. However, sometimes when you have more than one serving of the item, it can increase the points+ value more than the single serving. A good example of this is several of the 100 calorie bagels – have 1/2 a bagel and it’s 1 points+ but each the whole thing and it’s 3 points+.

There is part of me that says, well just eat them at different times and count them each as a single serving, but, there is part of me that says, count it for what it’s worth.

As with every recommendation I make, if you can count them as single servings (i.e. 3 points+) and lose, then, do it. If you notice you are not losing at a rate you like, then, count the points+ in total (4 points+).

      Does that make sense?

As far as the cinnamon chips go, I’ve heard people have found them at The Nugget and Amazon.com.

WTG on the loss – you are doing fantastic!!! Keep up the great work, I know you can do it!

      Thanks for asking,

      Danica

      Sally,

I googled Hershey to see where they were distributed in my area. Perhaps you can do the same. I didn’t find them in any of the stores I shopped, so my next stop is to see if I can find them in the stores Hershey recommended.

By the way, do you know how many points are in each of the mini muffins?

Thanks and good luck finding the chips in your area.

        Vonda,

See above, but, 1 points+ per muffin unless you have multiple servings.

    Hi Danica

made your Taco salad recipe last night for me and the kids. They were surprised with the presentation but finally found it easier to eat than the regular presentation.
With the corn chips, it even tasted a bit like ”cheating’,
    Thanks
