Happy Sunday all! This morning started off with a quick weigh in at my Weekly Weight Watchers meeting. I usually do not get to stay for the meeting on the days we head to the antique fair because we go so early. I know I could skip it, but, there is just something with how that scale and being accountable works for me.
I guess I can’t be an inspiration to you all each week as much as I want to. I am choosing to NOT focus on the scale this week because I do not think it showed my effort. Instead I am focusing on what I did that was GOOD this week.
GOOD THINGS THIS WEEK:
* I worked out 5 times!
* I made HEALTHY choices and ate sensible portions every time I went out to eat this week (although I probably could’ve done it less).
* I drank my water and met almost every single healthy guideline each day!
* I tracked every single bite……
And, you know what….the scale showed me up .6 of a lb. I am OK with it because I think I already had a successful week based on all the GOOD things I did.
I have no doubt NEXT WEEK the scale is going to show my hard work because I plan to just Keep on Keeping On and working the program like I know how to.
Since I wasn’t hungry at all this morning, I never even brought breakfast with me. I did somehow manage to brew some coffee and get a Grande Dirty Latte with a banana (4 points+)
We spent the morning strolling through the Sacramento Antique Fair. I am pretty excited that I scored 9 magazines (all current issues ~ think Martha Stewart Living, Everyday Food, etc.) for $2.25 and an old Weight Watchers Cookbook for Pizza for $4!
DEAL!
I let The Husband pick lunch since I ALWAYS pick Jack’s Urban Eats. He was craving a BLTA so we headed over to The Joy of Eating.
I started with a simple side salad with Italian Dressing on the side (2 points+).
BACON ~ LETTUCE ~ TOMATO ~ AVOCADO ~ on Homemade Sweet Bread (10 points+)
I still wasn’t hungry much all afternoon ~ I WISH I KNEW what made me have days like this because I would definitely repeat them No worries, I am sure by tomorrow I will be back to my HUNGRY SELF.
Dinner tonight was awesome because it was GRILLED, involved 4 dishes and 2 AWESOME ingredients.
Remember this Smoky Apricot BBQ Sauce from last week?!
Plus my FAVORITE Trader Joe’s Peppered Turkey Bacon. I STILL LOVE TJ’s even if they changed their stats and their bacon. The one by me is ONLY selling the thick cut peppered turkey bacon now so it’s 1 points+ a slice versus 2
Bring back the THIN slices since they are 0 points+ a slice
It’s still not 100% perfect since my packet has 10 slices, but, that’s ok, I consider it the bonus plan – more for less LOL.
Are you all ready??? We BUILT BBQ BACON CHEESEBURGERS!
Toasted sesame buns with a little BBQ sauce.
Grilled TJ’s 96% Beef Burgers topped with BBQ sauce and 1 oz LF Sharp Cheddar Cheese.
All the “fixin’s” ~ lettuce, onion, tomato.
BACON!
BBQ, BACON, CHEESEBURGER ~ 10 points+
Dessert!
HERE IS WHAT IS ON THE MENU THIS WEEK
I struggled with ideas this week so you may see some new things in here not posted. I will post the recipes below as I make them.

Burgers look awesome!! Love your menu for the week! Just looked at the scale after my week-end “outing” and I was up 2; so again my mini goal is to “COOK AT HOME” and try not to go out to eat!! Also go for a walk at lunch, and drink my water! Yeah, I guess that’s more than 1, but I need to get back in control. LOVE your menu, and I really need to start planning better!

Oooooh that burger looks soooooo gooooood! Yum!

SO proud of you girl!!! I definitely have days like that too. I’m not trying to loose weight at all, but I confess that somedays, based on how much I work out and what I eat, why the scale doesn’t go down. In fact, it’s been going up. I need to look at it as a good thing, but it’s still hard because you look at everything you’re doing and realize that has to be enough. The scale does NOT measure our health, it’s just a number! 🙂

your menu sounds great this week!
and I think this week will be awesome – it always seemed to go in weird cycles for me when I was first losing with WW: a few good weeks, 1-2 weeks up, and then down again. Our bodies know what they’re doing – but the scale is definitely NOT The only measurement of success! 🙂

I just bought a new package of the peppered turkey bacon. I had used several in my freezer and now needed more. I was really bummed to see how thick the slices were and then to figure that EACH slice is now 1 point. Bummed!

You are and will continue to be an inspiration to us all, everyday, because you never give up, you are honest about your struggles and you keep moving forward even when it’s hard! We love and support you, Danica!

You make burgers look mouthwatering good, and I’m a vegetarian!

YOU are an inspiration. Every day. Every week. Scale or no scale 🙂
Thanks for the heads up on the turkey bacon!!! I noticed it was thicker the other day, but never thought to recheck the stats!

Way to be positive this week! I had the biggest gain I’ve had since I started, and I think it was because I had a big lunch the day before when I usually keep the day before weigh in kinda light, low sodium. Still, not fun when my progress is already so slow. But, hey, it could always be much worse, right? Keep our eyes on the prize!

I agree with Marisa, you are an inspiration every day ,every week. I bet next week the scale will show it, but regardless you are eating healthy and making great choices. Burger looks totally yum!!

The number doesn’t always tell the story but your positive attitude definitely does!
Have you tried the Philadelphia Cream Cheese cooking creme yet? We used it last night with chicken tenders, crushed tomatoes, diced chilis, garlic and onions. It was awesome and the cooking creme is only 3 points+ for 1/4 cup (we used the Santa Fe flavor).

This is the second time you have come to Sacto for fun on the weekends… Makes me laugh, because I live in the region and always complain there is nothing to do! Your food, as usual, looks delish!

I’m drooling over those burgers, they look perfect! Sorry about the gain, but you had such a great week; you should be so proud of yourself!!!
Roz says
HI Danica, GREAT score on those magazines. Don’t you HATE it when you are on track and the scale doesn’t reflect it. GRRRR!!!! Glad you are putting the number behind you and focussing on the big picture – which is healthy!! Have a good Monday.

I am making burgers tonight – with homemade pretzel rolls – 5 points a piece, but it will be worth it!
I did a sesame noodle salad for lunch today ( will post recipe tomorrow)
Also have a 6 point pulled pork sammie, a fried garlic, spinach and goat cheese quiche for one (haven’t figured out the points on that one yet), and greek chicken kabobs one night – lots of yummies!
I am a magazine whore too – no wonder I like you so much! 😀

My leader at WW said when you have a really good week like that it usually takes a couple weeks to reflect on the scale, so maybe you will have a better weigh in next week. I did really good at working out last week, made it 6 days to the gym and/or working out at home or work. I was proud of myself. In turn I did lose 2 lbs. Woohoo!!
I love magazines too! So score for you too!!
Those burgers looks so yummy, they make me wanna go buy some hamburger buns and make some tonight! lol. I gotta check my turkey bacon too. Thanks for the heads up.
Tami says
I have not tried that bacon, I usually buy regular center cut bacon because I don’t care for the turkey stuff but this one looks good! I was just there at TJ’s this afternoon – isn’t that how things go?
Love your attitude about the scale and focusing on all the good things you did this past week. In the end it’s those good habits that add up to weight loss!

Hi, I recently found your blog through Roni’s Weigh and I love it! Lots of great ideas and inspiration here. On Sunday, I tried your pancake recipe (using cottage cheese and oatmeal) and it was wonderful! I love an easy make-ahead breakfast with lots of protein. And the cheesy chicken spinach stuffed shells you linked to are definitely on the menu for the next time I have company. We have lots of company for meals and I struggle to find good, healthy, affordable recipes for company.

HI Frani,
I haven’t tried that cooking creme yet but I am liking the sound of the Santa Fe Flavor! Thanks for trying it out and letting me know it’s good.
