Happy Friday Eve all! As you all may have noticed, I am not a big cold cereal person ~ I love it (hello Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries and Raisin Bran Crunch!), but, it never really keeps me full for more than an hour or so. I do not think it’s always worth the points+ by the time you add in any toppings and milk.
One cool thing about the Simply Filling Technique is that you can have cereal with milk and toppings without having to count any points+. The trick is finding a cereal that is Whole-grain, ready-to-eat cereals without added sugar, dried fruits or nuts, and with 4g of fiber or more per serving”.
Most of the cereals that fall into this category include shredded or puffed wheat. However, there are a few cereals (like some bran flakes) that do.
I really wanted to buy Nature’s Path Bran Cereal, but, I couldn’t find it when I was at the store. I ended up with Organic Multi-Grain Oat Bran thinking it was the same thing.
It didn’t take until I looked this up in my tracker to realize this is not the same because it was not on the Simply Filling List (I am sure it’s that organic evaporated cane sugar that I missed when I looked at the box).
Side Note ~ Did you all know when you are searching for a food that you can type in something like “cereal” then, check on the “Power Foods Only” box to see what foods/brands are Simply Filling.
This is so cool ~ the Phone App lists Power Foods too under the find function.
I think I am having a not so hungry day because my cereal bowl kept me full for 4 hours.
Served up with fat free milk, a banana and raspberries.
I am so proud of my Non-Scale Victory today. My co-worker asked if I wanted to go to Pho, but, I declined and stuck to the plan by eating the lunch I made ~ SUCCESS!
Do you all remember the Kale with Cannellini Beans and Bacon that I made awhile back? I put a spin on this recipe by subbing out the real deal bacon for lean Canadian bacon to make it Simply Filling.
The Canadian bacon brought such a delicious sweet and smoky flavor that I didn’t miss the bacon Crazy but true….
I rounded it out with a Lite String Cheese and nectarine.
Mid afternoon power snack!
Part 2 of my afternoon snack was walking around the farmer’s market and sampling the fruits and veggies. I bought more fruit and these organic tomatoes for $1 per lb.
I also bought a new flavored oil and restocked my Pasta More White Balsamic with Pear Vinegar ~ I LOVE this stuff and use it instead of dressing.
For dinner, we decided on making big steak salads with our 4th of July leftovers. I started off with 4 oz BBQ Tri tip.
Added a small 1/4 cup scoop of Healthy Potato Salad making sure I got 0 olives
Then, piled it all on top of crunchy organic greens with leftover grilled corn.
I drizzled my White Balsamic Pear Dressing and added 1 Tbsp Sunflower Seeds for 1 WPA to finish it off.
STATS: Yesterday’s is now up to date ~ here is today’s:
- 2,367 calories burned
- 4,915 steps taken
- 1 WPA used, 14 WPA remaining (24 daily points+)

Is it like pastAMORE… like pasta love, instead of pasta MORE??? Not that it matters. It just hit me while I was trying to figure out how to pronounce it. LOL Looks like a great day! I think the lunch looks yummy.

Staci,
You are so funny! I never really thought of it and now I am not sure which one I’d want to say more….Pasta More – give me more pasta ha! or Past Amore – I LOVE pasta like you mention above. It’s probably option 2 but I am totally going to ask the lady next week at the farmer’s market 🙂
